The question I always ask myself, how profitable is it to watch a movie without having previously seen the anime? - In this case it worked out pretty well for me. The reason, although a bit crazy for some, is to watch these films to see if I can get hooked by the plot and then sit down to watch the full anime. I had heard of this story, hence the curiosity to want to know more, so the surprise I get is that it is very interesting everything I get to see this film. Some humanoids that are actually yōkai monsters that what they seek is to defend humanity. The plot, as it is obvious, has many similarities with other things but the first impression was pretty good, the film is easy to watch.

La pregunta que siempre me hago, que tan rentable es ver una película sin haber visto previamente el anime? - en este caso me fue bastante bien. La razón, aunque algo loca para algunos, es ver estos films para ver si logro se enganchado por la trama y así sentarme a ver el anime completo. Había escuchado de esta historia, de ahí la curiosidad por querer saber más, por lo que la sorpresa que me consigo es que es muy interesante todo lo que llegue a ver este film. Unos humanoides que en realidad son unos monstruos yōkai que lo que buscan es defender a la humanidad. La trama, como es obvio, tiene muchos parecidos con otras cosas pero la primera impresión fue bastante buena, la película se deja ver.

Do you need to see the anime to understand the movie? - No. You may lack context for certain things but it's not essential, if you want to see it first it's better but it's not vital to do so, in the end I understood it perfectly. Having said that, this plot tells us about Bem, Bela and Belo, three humanoids who escaped to an island after the events of the anime, we are about 2 years after that. The thing is that they are being persecuted so they went to an island to go unnoticed. There is a company called Doraco Chemical, a company that Bem or rather Belm works for and we will soon find out that it is not what it seems to be.

Necesitas ver el anime para entender la película? - no. Puede que te falte contexto para ciertas cosas pero no es primordial, si lo quieres ver primero pues mejor pero no es vital hacerlo, al final yo la entendí perfectamente. Habiendo dicho esto, esta trama nos habla de Bem, Bela y Belo, tres humanoides que escaparon a una isla después de los sucesos del anime, estamos como 2 años después de aquello. La cosa es que ellos están siendo perseguidos por lo que se fueron a una isla a pasar desapercibidos. Allí hay una empresa llamada Doraco Chemical, empresa para la que trabaja Bem o mejor dicho Belm y que pronto sabremos que no es lo que aparenta ser.

Strange things happen in that company, Bem's behavior is not the same, it seems that he is living a life that is not his own. As I said all this is a facade that covers up the real plans of Doraco Chemical, plans that I will not tell you so you can watch the movie. The plot focuses on the “awakening” of Bem and with the help of Belo and Bela dismantle all that. It must be said that the relationship of the three of them is not the same but the cause is, so the understanding at the end is tacit. It is a film that explores several themes: acceptance as one is, emotional attachment, the comfort behind a certain identity and if we get more philosophical, one's place in the world.

En esa compañía pasan cosas raras, el comportamiento de Bem no es el mismo, parece que estuviese viviendo una vida que no es la suya. Como dije todo esto es una fachada que encubre los verdaderos planes de Doraco Chemical, planes que no les voy a decir para que así vean la película. La trama se centra en el "despertar" de Bem y con la ayuda de Belo y Bela desmontar todo aquello. Hay que decir que la relación de ellos tres no es la misma pero la causa si lo es por lo que el entendimiento al final es tácito. Es una película que explora varios temas: la aceptación tal y como se es, el apego emocional, la comodidad detrás de una identidad determinada y si nos ponemos más filosóficos, el lugar en el mundo de cada uno.

The plot is super entertaining, as the story progresses you feel that everything is wrong, that everything is artificial, you know that this is not the reality so discovering what really happens makes the film not boring. It's all very linear, I think from the beginning you probably know how everything is going to end. Basically the background of everything is the typical fight of good against evil, the plans of this company are contrary to the common good of humanity even though they sell something very different to people. It is evil through power and control. The film has its slow moments but it also has a lot of action.

La trama es super entretenida, a medida que avanza la historia se siente que todo está mal, que todo es artificial, se sabe que esa no es la realidad por lo que ir descubriendo que es lo que realmente pasa hace que la película no aburra. Eso si, todo es muy lineal, creo que desde que empieza es muy probable que sepas como va a terminar todo. Basicamente el trasfondo de todo es la típica lucha del bien contra el mal, los planes de esta empresa son contrarios al bien común de la humanidad a pesar de que le vendan algo muy distinto a la gente. Es el mal a través del poder y el control. El film tiene sus momentos lentos pero también tiene unas muy dosis de acción.

Seeing beings protect people so much knowing that their nature is not human is interesting, realizing that they value people and the world more than humans themselves is certainly food for thought. The film explores those feelings along with the sense of belonging, hence Bem has always wanted to be a human or at least felt like one many times. The ending goes that way, I liked it, I think it was a very cool way to end the story. Talking a little bit about the animation, the people from Production I.G. were in charge of this, the same people from Haikyuu, Psycho Pass, FLCL, Ghost in the Shell, etc. It's very good and I would say standard, I didn't notice it extraordinary, it has a top fluidity and it's very graphic but not more than that.

Ver a unos seres proteger tanto a las personas sabiendo que su naturaleza no es humana es interesante, darse cuenta que valoran más a las personas y al mundo que los propios humanos sin dudas es para pensar. La película explora esos sentimientos junto con el sentido de pertenecer, de ahí a que Bem siempre haya querido ser un humano o por lo menos se haya sentido como uno muchas veces. El final va por esa senda, a mi me gustó, creo que fue una forma muy cool de terminar la historia. Hablando un poco de la animación pues tenemos que la gente de Production I.G fueron los encargados de esto, los mismos de Haikyuu, Psycho Pass, FLCL, Ghost in the Shell, etc. Es muy buena y diría que estándar, no la noté extraordinaria, si tiene una fluidez top y es muy gráfica pero no más que eso.

Anyway, this sequel to the anime is good as a movie, we will have to see how someone who watched the complete anime will understand it. Personally I enjoyed it, the plot is interesting, simple, easy to understand, somewhat graphic, full of action and some sentimentality. When I said it looked like stuff to me there is a scene, towards the end, that is very similar to Shingeki no Kyojin, but a carbon copy. That's what happens when there are too many references. En fin, esta secuela del anime es buena como película, habrá que ver como la entiende alguien que se vio el anime completo. Personalmente me la disfruté, la trama es interesante, sencilla, fácil de entender, un tanto gráfica, llena de acción y de uno que otro sentimentalismo. Cuando dije que se me parecía a cosas hay una escena, hacia el final, que es muy similar a Shingeki no Kyojin, pero un calco. Eso es lo que pasa cuando hay muchas referencias.
