The cool thing about looking for films among the sea of options is that there is always the possibility of getting that hidden diamond that unknowingly turns out to be a great film. Kagami no Kojou is a story that deals with the complicated reality of many young people who go to school and there have to suffer with a monster that has always been present and it seems that it always will be: bullying. The good thing about these films is that when they touch on these socially sensitive issues they usually end up being great films with a very emotional message at the end. It is a plot that is hardly bad or boring and even more in this case that there is a touch of fantasy and slightly mystery that makes everything very entertaining.

Lo cool de buscar películas entre el mar de opciones que hay es que siempre cabe la posibilidad de conseguir ese diamante oculto que sin saberlo resulta siendo un gran film. Kagami no Kojou es una historia que aborda la complicada realidad de muchos jóvenes que van al colegio y que allí tienen que sufrir con un monstruo que siempre ha estado presente y pareciera que siempre lo estará: el bullying. Lo bueno de estos film es que cuando tocan estos temas que son socialmente sensibles por lo general terminan siendo grandes películas con un muy emotivo mensaje al final. Es una trama que difícilmente sea mala o aburrida y más en este caso que hay un toque de fantasía y ligeramente misterio que hace muy entretenido todo.

We have Kokoro, she is the typical quiet and sweet girl who doesn't pick on anyone but because of her shyness and inability to defend herself she gets bullied daily by a group of girls who go to the same class as her. As it always happens, the harassment is for nonsense but in her world it is something terrible that she can't deal with to the point that she decides not to go to class anymore. One day, through the mirror she has in her room, a portal opens that teleports her to a world that consists of a huge castle where she is greeted by a girl with a wolf mask. The thing is that Kokoro is not the only one there, there are 6 other students with similar problems to her and they are now waiting for what will happen in this castle.

Tenemos a Kokoro, ella es la típica niña callada y dulce que no se mete con nadie pero que por esa timidez e incapacidad de defenderse recibe a diario mucho acoso por parte de un grupo de niñas que van a la misma clase que ella. Como siempre pasa el acoso es por tonterías pero en el mundo de ella es algo terrible con lo que no puede lidiar al punto de que decide no ir más a clases. Un buen día a través del espejo que ella tiene en su cuarto se abre un portal que le teletransporta a un mundo que está conformado por un inmenso castillo en donde la recibe una niña con máscara de lobo. La cosa es que Kokoro no es la única allí, hay otros 6 estudiantes con problemas similares a ella y que ahora están a la expectativa de lo que pasará en este castillo.

This undoubtedly changes everything because many of the decisions they make from now on is thinking about this because it is not at all a minor detail. For this they have a limited time and it is before the end of the school year. Being in the castle for all of them is a kind of escape and they all suffer in their world from different problems that make them unhappy in the place where they are.

Una vez en el castillo ellos tendrán que hacer una sola cosa: encontrar una llave. Aquel que la encuentre tendrá la opción de pedir un deseo, el que sea pero hay una condición muy importante: tendrán que ver la película para saberla (no quiero dañarles la sorpresa). Esto sin dudas lo cambia todo porque muchas de la decisiones que ellos toman de acá en adelante es pensando en esto ya que no es para nada un detalle menor. Para esto tienen un tiempo limitado y es para antes de que termine el año escolar. Estar en el castillo para todos ellos es una especie de escape y es que todos sufren en su mundo de diferentes problemas que los hacen infelices en el lugar en donde están.

That is why this castle has helped them to open up a bit, to tell their problems, to know what it is to have real friends and above all to feel safe and comfortable. The true value of the film is to understand that no one is ever alone enough to face a problem, you have to know how to surround yourself with the right people and of course, have the ability to empathize. This last word is key.

No solo es el bullying, que en este caso es lo principal, sino también problemas familiares, en sus casas, con maestros o tutores, alguna pérdida de un ser querido, una serie de cosas que desestabilizan a cualquiera y más aún sin son jóvenes. Es por eso que este castillo los ha ayudado un poco a abrirse, a contar sus problemas, a saber lo que es tener amigos de verdad y sobre todo a sentirse seguros y cómodos. El verdadero valor de la película es entender que nunca nadie está lo suficientemente solo para afrontar un problema, hay que saber rodearse de las personas correctas y claro, tener la capacidad de empatía. Esta última palabra es clave.

The plot is very entertaining to watch because it is a kind of story, in fact this story has a book that is said to be much more emotional. Details are always being revealed about each character, about the castle, which makes you very interested in continuing watching the film. There are several surprising plot twists, at least one of them I did not expect. It is a warm film, with a message, if you are sensitive you might shed a tear or two; it is a film that touches you and with which it is very easy to identify. The animation is special, the people at A-1 Pictures do it again. Very detailed, with good effects, good exteriors, a brutal use of 3D; this studio is very top in everything they do.

La trama es muy entretenida de ver porque es una especie de cuento, de hecho esta historia tiene un libro que según dicen es mucho más emocional. Siempre se van develando detalles de cada personaje, del castillo que hace que haya mucho interés en continuar viendo el film. Hay varios plot twist bien sorprendentes, por lo menos uno de ellos no me lo esperaba. Es un film cálido, con un mensaje, si eres sensible capaz sueltes una que otra lágrima; es una película que llega y con la que es muy fácil identificarse. La animación es especial, la gente de A-1 Pictures lo vuelve a hacer. Muy detallada, con buenos efectos, buenos exteriores, un brutal uso del 3D; este estudio es muy top en todo lo que hace.

Finally, I talk about the characters. They are all very well developed, they all have their magic and personality, none of them are filler, they are all there for a reason. The complementation between all of them is vital for everything to work out the way it ends up happening. When you see Kokoro you think: how can anyone mess with her? - Well, that's how special she is, well everyone really is. I highly recommend this film, very nice and heartfelt, I know you will enjoy it and suffer too. It lasts less than two hours. A real gem of a film. Here is the trailer.

Finalmente les hablo de los personajes. Todos están muy bien desarrollados, todos tienen su magia y personalidad, ninguno es de relleno, todos están ahí por algo. La complementación entre todos es vital para que todo salga como termina sucediendo. Cuando ves a Kokoro piensas: como alguien se puede meter con ella? - pues bueno, así de especial es ella, bueno todos la verdad. Les recomiendo mucho este film, muy bonito y sentido, se que lo van a disfrutar y sufrir también. Dura menos de dos horas. Una verdadera joya de película. Acá tienen el tráiler.

es una pelicula bonita, que te enseña que el como te traten cuando eres joven te puede afectar o no para cuando seas adulto, el bulling nunca a sido un juego, excelente post!

Esta película es muy especial, no solo tiene una animación muy buena, también su trasfondo es sentimental y cuando descubres el final y mas aun quien era la niña de la mascara Woow, una gran historia y como dices que nos muestra como todos pueden siempre deber enfrentar grandes problemas. una historia con muchos giros de trama inesperados en verdad.

This movie is very special, not only has a very good animation, also its background is sentimental and when you discover the end and even more who was the girl with the mask Woow, a great story and as you say it shows us how everyone can always have to face big problems. a story with many unexpected plot twists indeed.

I was a little surprised by that, I didn't expect him to be who he ended up being at all. Another cool thing was the post-credits images, they helped bring closure to several of those stories. Super complete film.

The story is mostly fantasy but touches on many issues of bullying in these young people. It's very interesting honestly, I didn't think the movie was going to be worth it in the end. Finding these hidden treasures will always be a win-win for me.
