(ESP-ENG) The Housemaid | A gripping psychological thriller - Movie Review!
Hello friends, good vibes to all.

Lately, I've been lucky enough to find series and movies with great plot twists. My most recent reviews have followed suit, and now with this film, I'm confirming the streak. The Housemaid is a movie from last year based on a novel of the same name, where the psychological thriller takes center stage. It's a story that truly keeps you glued to the screen, both because of how captivating and how unsettling it can be at certain moments. I confess that I finished it on my second try, as I turned it off after 25 minutes the first time because I couldn't connect with it. Thank goodness I gave it a second chance because it's really worth sitting down and watching.
This story follows three people. Millie (Sydney Sweeney), a young woman desperately seeking employment due to her less-than-stellar past, and Nina and Andrew Winchester (Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar), a wealthy couple looking for a nanny/housekeeper. Initially, everything seems to run smoothly, to the point that Millie believes it's the perfect job; however, that perception is about to change completely. As the days go by, conflicts begin to surface, with Nina exhibiting strange behavior and Andrew becoming overly accommodating; everything feels odd and out of place.

But because the need for money sometimes takes precedence, Millie decides to stay, despite the hell she's about to experience. She quickly realizes this family has secrets, to the point that intrigue and fear overwhelm her until it seems like it's all too late. I have to say I quite enjoyed the film. It took me a couple of times to get into it, but in the end, I was very pleased with the plot and especially with the plot twists, which, I must say, are insane. As a psychological thriller, it truly manages to completely captivate you. As the story unfolds, you increasingly want to know the truth behind it all; it can be both agonizing and intriguing at the same time.
It's not a horror film; that's not what it's about. It's an unsettling film where everything revolves around the protagonists' behavior, everything stems from their actions. There are no action scenes or anything like that, but there are a couple where eroticism comes to the fore. It's one of those stories that combines psychopathy with love, control, and power, which ultimately becomes a very dangerous cocktail. And yes, the plot has all those ingredients to create a true nightmare. But none of this would be possible without the excellent performances of its actors.

People often pigeonhole Sydney Sweeney, saying she's just all about looks, which is a huge mistake. In my opinion, she excels at drama and suspense. She's not an actress we'll see vying for an Oscar, or maybe she will, but she certainly handles herself very well on camera. And then there's Amanda Seyfried, a truly great actress who shines in every role she takes on. She always delivers excellent performances, and this film is no exception. I think these two actresses carry the film on their shoulders because, yes, Andrew is also key, but his performance isn't quite as spectacular. So yes, it's a film by two great actresses.
Un film al que le doy un 8/10. Atrapante, lleno de intriga y con un cierre que adelanto no se lo espera nadie. Recomendado, dura poco más de dos horas. Les dejo el tráiler por acá abajo.
I give this film an 8/10. It's gripping, full of intrigue, and has a completely unexpected ending. Highly recommended; it runs for just over two hours. You can find the trailer below.

Well folks, that's all for today. I hope you enjoyed it.
¡Hugs to everyone, see you next time!
