(ESP-ENG) The Rip | An action plot that "never" fails - Movie Review!
Hello friends, good vibes to all.

Every now and then, Netflix decides to step up its game and release productions with well-known actors, especially knowing that they're going to make movies or series that will be watched by a wide audience, ultimately becoming mainstream. This is happening with His & Hers and now with this film starring Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, two Hollywood heavyweights. The movie is everything you'd expect: a kind of action thriller involving corruption, cops, and drugs—essential ingredients that guarantee a minimum level of entertainment. But there's another similarity with the series I mentioned earlier: plot twists will also be plentiful.
We find ourselves in Miami, where a police unit specializing in drug seizures and investigations discovers a large sum of money hidden in a house—millions of dollars, which is anything but common. When such large amounts of money surface, people's darkest instincts often come to the fore: betrayal, greed, mistrust, paranoia. What was once a close-knit group ends up becoming a group of strangers.

Dane (Damon) and JD (Affleck) are the leaders of the group and bear the brunt of the decisions made during the operation. From the beginning, they plant the idea that someone in the group is lying, that one of them is an informant, so the viewer's task is to discover, based on behavior, dialogue, and actions, which agent might be the one who's "turned on them." The problem with this film is that around the halfway point, they briefly reveal who that person could be, the one who could turn everything upside down. This has a negative effect on me because the intrigue or anticipation I might have is completely, or at least largely, extinguished, since I already know one of the legs of that corrupt table.
The plot itself is very simple; what makes it special is the way everything unfolds and how they discover who the "moles" are. I'm not going to say the movie is bad because I don't think it is; I just feel it's purely for entertainment, something to watch on a Sunday. Towards the end, these plot twists occur, with a narrative built up throughout the film. This undoubtedly made the story a bit more interesting, since at the end of the day, what you see is mere manipulation to reach a specific goal. I didn't feel like I wasted my time, but it wasn't the film I was expecting either. For me, it was very superficial and even predictable.

Being an action thriller, it's pretty good, or at least decent. There are shootouts, chases, and fights—all pretty average to make the film work; nothing too special. As for the acting, the chemistry between Affleck and Damon is undeniable; they work very well together, and we're talking about great actors. The supporting characters are there to complement and add depth to the story. I think this is a film I was drawn to because of the cast, but ultimately it didn't quite live up to expectations precisely because of the acting. For me, it's a 6/10. It could have been much better, but it ended up being just another run-of-the-mill plot, typical generic Netflix content. It's no wonder Matt Damon himself criticized the company for its approach to "filmmaking." It's just under two hours long; I've included the trailer below.
¡Un abrazo a todos, nos vemos en la próxima!
Well folks, that's all for today. I hope you enjoyed it.
¡Hugs to everyone, see you next time!
Me encanta Matt.
