Video game adaptations usually don't turn out as expected, I feel it's very complicated to replicate a game and bring it to the big screen but they keep trying. It is not that the record is negative either, there are some good things out there and I think this title is a good example. Until Dawn is a Playstation video game that came out back in 2015 and people liked it a lot, so why not make it into a movie? - The result was or is a gore horror plot with its touches of suspense that I assure you will keep you in tension during almost the entire film.

Las adaptaciones de videojuegos por lo general no salen como se esperan, siento que es muy complicado replicar un juego y llevarlo a la pantalla grande pero lo siguen intentando. Tampoco es que el récord sea negativo, existen sus cosas buenas por ahí y creo que este título es un buen ejemplo. Until Dawn es un videojuego de Playstation que salió por allá en el 2015 y que a la gente le ha gustado bastante, entonce, por qué no hacerlo película? - el resultado fue o es una trama de terror gore con sus pinceladas de suspenso que les aseguro los mantendrán en tensión durante casi todo el film.

We are facing 5 friends who decide to go on a trip to look for answers or traces of the missing Melanie, Clover's sister, who is one of the members of this group. The road takes them to a valley where Mel's disappearance supposedly occurred, it is an abandoned place where there is only a visitor's center. Very quickly they realize that things are not quite right, they begin to realize that something strange is happening in that place and above all that they are being harassed and they are definitely not alone. The reality is that these friends are being hunted by a masked killer. His intention? - To kill them as quickly as possible.

Estamos ante 5 amigos que deciden hacer un viaje con motivo de buscar respuestas o rastros de la desaparecida Melanie, hermana de Clover quien es una de las integrantes de este grupo. El camino los lleva a un valle donde supuestamente ocurrió la desaparición de Mel, es un lugar abandonado en donde solo hay un centro de visitantes. Muy rápidamente se darán cuenta de que las cosas no están del todo bien, comienzan a percatarse de que algo extraño pasa en aquel sitio y sobretodo de que están siendo acosados y es que definitivamente no está solos. La realidad es que estos amigos están siendo cazados por un asesino enmascarado. Su intención? - matarlos lo más rápido posible.

That intention has a reason for being and is that the only way in which these people could be saved is surviving all night until they see the light of dawn. But since that is complicated, they almost always end up dead, and once they all die, the night repeats itself, entering a kind of loop full of death and suffering. At first glance it may seem that the plot is repetitive, I also thought so when I started watching it but as the nights progress the violence and ways of dying always change for the worse which makes everything more entertaining to watch. Mind you, you have to like the slasher genre because this movie is 100% based on that.

Esa intención tiene una razón de ser y es que la única forma en la que estas personas se pudieran salvar es sobreviviendo toda la noche hasta ver la luz del amanecer. Pero como eso es complicado casi siempre terminan muertos y es que una vez mueren todos la noche se vuelve a repetir entrando en una especie de bucle lleno de muerte y sufrimiento. A primera vista puede parecer que la trama sea repetitiva, yo también lo pensé cuando comencé a verla pero a medida que avanzan las noches la violencia y las formas de morir cambian siempre para peor lo que hace todo sea más entretenido de ver. Eso si, les tiene que gustar el género del slasher porque esta película se basa 100% sobre eso.

As I was saying, this film is extremely graphic, lots of blood, dismemberments, deaths of all kinds, the truth is that they were very creative when it came to show them; in short, the gore is very heavy and you will only enjoy it if you appreciate the genre. The scenes where all these things happen are very well done, it is very easy for this to look fake or of poor quality but honestly on screen it looks very good. It's not just the violence of the plot that catches your attention, there's also a lot of suspense, tension and at times it seems like the paranormal has its moments on screen. Scary? - Not for me, but there are a couple of scenes where terror is palpable.

Como les decía este film es extremadamente gráfico, mucha sangre, desmembramientos, muertes de todo tipo, la verdad se pusieron muy creativos a la hora de mostrarlas; en fin, el gore es muy pesado y solo lo vas a disfrutar si aprecias el género. Las escenas en donde ocurren todas estas cosas están muy logradas, es muy fácil que esto se vea falso o de mala calidad pero sinceramente en pantalla se ve muy bien. No es solo lo violento de la trama lo que llama la atención, también hay mucho suspenso, tensión y a veces pareciera que lo paranormal tuviera sus momentos en pantalla. Asusta? - a mi no pero su hay un par de escenas en las que el terror se palpa.

If you ever played the video game you might get some lore in some scenes. But I'm telling you that the movie is not exactly faithful to the game, only a couple of characters are present. And that's not a bad thing because the intention is not to make a copy but an adaptation, as a movie it works perfectly. The characters and their performances are decent, nothing extraordinary. When it comes to show drama, terror, anguish or pain it must be said that they get it. This is a film for blood and slasher lovers, there is nothing deep here. So much so that there are deaths that made me laugh because of the unexpected, but a laugh in a good way.

Si jugaste alguna vez el videojuego puede que consigas cierto lore en algunas escenas. Pero ya les digo que la película no es exactamente fiel al juego, solo un par de personajes están presentes. Y eso no es malo porque la intención no es hacer una copia sino una adaptación, como película funciona perfectamente. Los personajes y sus actuaciones están decentes, nada extraordinario. Cuando hay que mostrar drama, terror, angustia o dolor hay que decir que lo consiguen. Esto es un film para los amantes de la sangre y el slasher, no hay nada profundo acá. Es tan así que hay muertes que me dieron risa por lo inesperadas, pero un risa en el buen sentido.

A good and fulfilling film, it has all the ingredients of the genre. I give it a 7/10. It's good to watch it one night when there's nothing to see. It lasts a little over an hour and a half. I leave the trailer below. Yes, I recommend it, it's worth it.

Un film bueno y que cumple, tiene todos los ingredientes del género. Le doy un 7/10. Está bueno para verlo una noche cuando no haya nada que ver. Dura poco más de hora y media. Les dejo el tráiler por acá abajo. Si, se las recomiendo, vale la pena.
