Ya tenía tiempo que no me conseguía una película de estas características, una de esas que en vez de encontrarte con un film de acción y suspenso, como se supone que tendría que ser, resulta que estamos ante una película con una alta carga de momentos cómicos y toscos que al final pareciera que estuviéramos viendo una parodia de si misma. Me gusta ver películas al azar, que sean random y esta fue perfecta porque está dirigida por Mel Gibson y su protagonista es Mark Wahlberg, claramente dos nombres ultra conocidos en el mundo del cine. La verdad no sabía que me iba a encontrar, su sinopsis es muy común y cliché pero aún así le di una oportunidad únicamente por el par de nombres que estaban involucrados.
It had been a while since I got a movie with these characteristics, one of those that instead of being an action and suspense film, as it is supposed to be, it turns out that we are facing a film with a high load of comic and crude moments that at the end it seems that we were watching a parody of itself. I like to watch random movies and this one was perfect because it is directed by Mel Gibson and stars Mark Wahlberg, clearly two ultra well-known names in the world of cinema. I really didn't know what I was going to find, its synopsis is very common and cliché but I still gave it a chance just because of the couple of names involved.
Basicamente tenemos tres protagonistas en toda la película, no hay más. Un piloto (Mark Wahlberg) quien es el encargado de transportar a una alguacil de los Estados Unidos (Michelle Dockery) y a un testigo protegido (Topher Grace) que planea declarar en contra de una mafia en un jucio en Nueva York. Resulta que ellos salen de Alaska, ya que este testigo estaba huyendo de la justicia y es en ese lugar en donde estaba escondido, con la finalidad de llegar a tiempo a dicho juicio. Conforme van sobrevolando por las montañas nevadas de Alaska la situación se comienza a torcer un poco y es que no todos los que van en esa avioneta son los que dicen ser.
Basically we have three protagonists in the whole movie, that's all. A pilot (Mark Wahlberg) who is in charge of transporting a U.S. Marshal (Michelle Dockery) and a protected witness (Topher Grace) who plans to testify against a mob in a trial in New York. It turns out that they leave Alaska, since this witness was fleeing from justice and it is in that place where he was hiding, in order to arrive on time to the trial. As they fly over the snowy mountains of Alaska, the situation begins to twist a little and not everyone in the plane is who they say they are.
Cuando estaba por el minuto 10 de película comencé a notar ciertas inconsistencias en la forma en como estaban abordando la situación, no soy ningún experto en la materia pero considero que se cometieron un par de errores que me descolocaron un poco. Esto para mi es terrible porque ya uno se condiciona y predispone por el resto del film y la personalidad cínica y burlona que llevo dentro aparece y comienzo a criticar todo. La trama tiene la intención de ser una especie de thriller aéreo lo que hace que todo sea más riesgoso y tensionante porque sencillamente no hay escapatoria, repito, esa es la intención inicial. En cambio, que tenemos? - una imitación de lo que es un thriller. Al final todo es una serie de eventos desafortunados.
When I was about 10 minutes into the film I began to notice certain inconsistencies in the way they were approaching the situation, I am no expert on the subject but I think they made a couple of mistakes that threw me off a little. This is terrible for me because one is already conditioned and predisposed for the rest of the film and the cynical and mocking personality inside me appears and I start to criticize everything. The plot is intended to be a kind of aerial thriller which makes everything more risky and tense because there is simply no escape, I repeat, that is the initial intention. Instead, what do we have? - An imitation of what a thriller is. In the end it's all a series of unfortunate events.
A Mark Wahlberg uno está acostumbrado a verlo de cierta manera en sus películas, a veces de bueno, de justiciero pero siempre con un grado de comedia incluido. En este film todo es muy diferente en él y creo que es por eso que no conecté tanto, me reí mucho pero por razones equivocadas. Sin dudas es el centro de la trama, es lo que medio le dio chispa a la historia, como dicen por ahí, fue el pegamento para mantener todo "unido". No critico su actuación, al final es muy parecido a lo que siempre hace, pero si me causó ruido al tipo de personaje y la forma en como lo interpretó. Creo que se le pudo haber sacado bastante más provecho a todo.
Toda la trama se desarrolla en la avioneta por lo que todas sus escenas de acción se reducen a pocos metros de maniobra, esto con la finalidad de aumentar la necesidad de urgencia y agobio en el espectador. Obviamente no estamos ante grandes peleas ni forcejeos, solo los necesarios para darle más profundidad a la historia. La película aburre? - un poco pero porque estoy seguro de que sabes que va a pasar al final, hay un solo plot twist que puede que no te esperes pero a partir de ahí todo es sumamente lineal y sin desvíos. Creo que es un film que para haber sido dirigido por Mel Gibson es un tremendo fracaso, creo que es la muestra de que no siempre salen buenas películas del sombrero con todo y que La Pasión de Cristo sea suya.
The entire plot takes place in the plane, so all the action scenes are reduced to a few meters of maneuvering, this in order to increase the need for urgency and overwhelm in the viewer. Obviously we are not facing big fights or struggles, only those necessary to give more depth to the story. The film is boring? - A little but because I'm sure you know what is going to happen at the end, there is only one plot twist that you might not expect but from then on everything is extremely linear and without detours. I think it's a film that for a Mel Gibson directed film is a tremendous failure, I think it's the proof that good films don't always come out of the hat even though The Passion of the Christ is his.
Le doy un 5/10. Se puede ver en momentos de extremo aburrimiento pero si que es verdad que esperaba algo con mucha más sustancia teniendo en el lineup a tan importantes nombres de la industria. Dura hora y media, punto positivo. Les dejo el tráiler por acá.
I give it a 5/10. It can be seen in moments of extreme boredom but it is true that I expected something with much more substance having in the lineup such important names in the industry. It lasts an hour and a half, positive point. I leave the trailer here.
