(ESP-ENG) The Accountant 2 | One more sequel in Hollywood - Movie Review!

Como viene siendo costumbre Hollywood apela mucho a las secuelas, precuelas y spin-off a falta de la originalidad para crear historias nuevas. Hay películas que no son para nada necesarias pero hay otras que se pudieran salvar de ese juicio. Creo que de The Accountant 2 es un ejemplo de esos films que no pasa nada con que existan ya que la primera parte fue muy buena y por que había historia que podía seguir siendo contada. La combinación entre Affleck y Bernthal es muy buena, como personajes obviamente se complementan muy bien y como actores de acción también, los dos hicieron un buen trabajo acá.

As usual Hollywood appeals a lot to sequels, prequels and spin-offs for lack of originality to create new stories. There are films that are not at all necessary but there are others that could be saved from that judgment. I think The Accountant 2 is an example of those films that are fine to exist because the first part was very good and because there was a story that could continue to be told. The combination between Affleck and Bernthal is very good, as characters they obviously complement each other very well and as action actors as well, they both did a good job here.

Tenemos a Christian Wolff (Affleck) quien es una persona que está en el espectro, es alguien especial. Él es un contador pero secretamente es una máquina de matar. Después de los sucesos de la primera parte Wolff se entera de la muerte de un conocido el cual pidió expresamente que lo buscara para resolver un caso de personas desaparecidas. Cuando este contador se da cuenta de que este trabajo no será tan sencillo decide llamar a su hermano Braxton (Bernthal), quien es incluso más letal que Christian, para que lo ayude en el camino de encontrar a la familia perdida. La realidad es que los criminales que están detrás de esto parecen ser miembros de un cartel junto a organizaciones que se encargan del trata de blancas (mujeres).

We have Christian Wolff (Affleck) who is a person who is on the spectrum, he's someone special. He's an accountant but secretly he's a killing machine. After the events of the first part Wolff learns of the death of an acquaintance who expressly asked to look for him to solve a missing persons case. When this accountant realizes that this job will not be so simple he decides to call his brother Braxton (Bernthal), who is even more lethal than Christian, to help him on the road to find the missing family. The reality is that the criminals behind this seem to be members of a cartel along with organizations that deal with white slavery (women).

La comparación es odiosa pero hay que hacerla y es que si vemos los dos films en lo personal me quedo con el primero. Esto no quiere decir que esta secuela sea mala, no lo es, pero para mi esta segunda entrega fue una película de acción más, ya el factor novedoso que en este caso era la condición de Wolff pasa a un segundo plano y la trama se centra en el desarrollo de la relación entre los hermanos y es que ellos tuvieron muchos años separados por lo que hay cosas que resolver. Hablando expresamente de eso la forma en cómo interactúan los dos es muy cool y hasta natural, hay una comedia implícita que hace que te rías con los diálogos y el trato entre ellos.

The comparison is odious but it has to be made and if we see the two films personally I'm left with the first one. This does not mean that this sequel is bad, it is not, but for me this second installment was another action movie, and the novelty factor that in this case was the condition of Wolff goes to the background and the plot focuses on the development of the relationship between the brothers and is that they had many years apart so there are things to solve. Speaking expressly of that the way the two interact is very cool and even natural, there is an implicit comedy that makes you laugh with the dialogues and the treatment between them.

La segunda parte de la trama es sin dudas la acción. Hay que decir que esperaba un poco más, no es que sea inexistente pero si fue muy genérica, extrañé la pelea cuerpo a cuerpo que se dio en la primera. Lo único que se ve interesante es el típico intercambio de disparos en una zona desértica entre estos dos y un grupo de hombres. Y es como dije, la película puede que se vuelva un poco más lenta producto de la profundización en la relación entre los hermanos. La trama es básica y lineal, es verdad que hay par de plot twist interesantes siendo uno de ellos realmente inesperado mientras que el segundo si era algo más esperable. Ese plot del que les hablo abre mucho el film y nos ayuda a entender muchas cosas tanto de Wolff como de su forma de operar.

The second part of the plot is undoubtedly the action. I have to say that I expected a little more, not that it is nonexistent but it was very generic, I missed the hand to hand fight that happened in the first one. The only thing that looks interesting is the typical exchange of gunfire in a desert area between these two and a group of men. And it's like I said, the movie might get a little slower as a result of the deepening relationship between the brothers. The plot is basic and linear, it is true that there are a couple of interesting plot twists being one of them really unexpected while the second one was more expected. The plot I'm talking about opens up the film and helps us to understand many things about Wolff and the way he operates.

En fin, es una buena secuela pero personalmente venía con expectativas más altas, le doy un 7.5/10. Les dejo el tráiler por acá abajo. Dura más de dos horas, eso es otro punto no tan agradable, creo que es innecesariamente larga. De todas maneras si les gustó la primera, hagan el cierre y vean esta segunda.

Anyway, it's a good sequel but personally I came with higher expectations, I give it a 7.5/10. I leave the trailer below. It's over two hours long, that's another not so nice point, I think it's unnecessarily long. Anyway if you liked the first one, make the closure and watch this second one.
