Four years have passed since that final scene in which Ginny and Ciro reached the end of their story. A sad but fitting end for two characters who, without sharing blood ties, were like siblings whose circumstances forced them to confront each other. Gomorrah was a series that gave me great satisfaction. I love stories about the mafia, and in this case, it was the television adaptation of Roberto Saviano's novel, which had already been adapted into a highly successful film.

From the beginning, Gomorrah captivated me, especially the way it expanded the entire Camorra universe, with its clans, families, and conflicts among the powerful, focusing on the Secondigliano neighborhood, where the most denigrated and those of lowest rank within the mafia pyramid yearned to become great bosses, with power and money, just as Pietro Savastano had achieved.

This new series is a prequel that will show us Pietro's origins: from his adolescence, amidst the poverty of Secondigliano, he became involved with the Camorra, forging his personality and rising through the ranks. We'll see, if they manage to complete all the planned seasons, how he became the most powerful and feared man in Secondigliano.

Set in the 1970s, it retains the spirit and style of the original series, which I consider a great success. It makes Gomorrah fans feel immersed in the same universe and, at the same time, serves as an entry point for those who haven't seen the original series. It could be a springboard for new viewers who get hooked on this prequel and are then encouraged to watch the original series.

The new characters and storylines quickly capture our interest. A cast of new faces portrays these criminals who earn their living and answer to the powerful, but who maintain the ambition to one day possess what they consider rightfully theirs. Pietro, a teenager, wants to be like Angelo, whom he sees as a free spirit, even though he's really just a pawn who must follow orders but is determined to forge his own path. This character will be Pietro's first influence, showing him the darkest side of everything.

Love also has its place, and Pietro will meet the woman who will be the love of his life, with whom he will build his empire and have his son, Gennaro. Here we will also see her evolution, and how behind that apparent innocence and sweetness she exudes, hides a woman who will become ruthless. His dreams of being a musician in the United States will be shattered, because fate has another path in store for him, one full of luxury, but also stained with blood.

Another character from the original series, but here in her youth, is Annalisa. We will discover more about her beginnings, how she went from being a submissive woman abused by her husband to becoming the despicable Annalisa of the original series. A woman who will also rise to power from the bottom.

This first season only has six episodes, and I hope it's well-received so they make more. As many as necessary—four, five, I don't care—as long as they maintain the quality. I know many characters will die; only the most well-known from the original series will survive. And although we already know the fate of Pietro, Inma, and Annalisa, I want to see how their path to absolute power unfolded.

Han pasado cuatro años desde aquella última escena en la que Ginny y Ciro llegaban al final de su historia. Un final triste pero apropiado para dos personajes que, sin compartir lazos de sangre, eran como hermanos cuyas circunstancias los obligaron a enfrentarse. Gomorra fue una serie que me dio mucha satisfacción. Me encantan las historias sobre mafias, y en este caso, se trataba de la adaptación televisiva de la novela de Roberto Saviano, que ya había sido adaptada al cine con gran éxito.

Desde el principio, Gomorra fue una serie que me cautivó, especialmente la forma en que expandieron todo el universo de la Camorra, con sus clanes, familias y conflictos entre los poderosos, centrándose en el barrio de Secondigliano, donde los más denigrados y los de menor rango dentro de la pirámide mafiosa anhelaban convertirse en grandes jefes, con poder y dinero, tal como lo había logrado Pietro Savastano.

Los nuevos personajes y tramas captan rápidamente nuestro interés. Un elenco de nuevos rostros para esos criminales que se ganan la vida y rinden cuentas a los poderosos, pero que mantienen la ambición de poseer algún día lo que consideran suyo por derecho. Pietro, un adolescente, quiere ser como Angelo, a quien ve como un espíritu libre, aunque en realidad no es más que un peón que debe recibir órdenes pero que está dispuesto a seguir su propio camino. Este personaje será la primera influencia de Pietro, ya que le mostrará el lado más oscuro de todo.

El amor también tiene su lugar, y Pietro conocerá a la mujer que será el amor de su vida, con quien forjará su imperio y tendrá a su hijo, Gennaro. Aquí también veremos su evolución, y cómo tras esa aparente inocencia y dulzura que transmite, se esconde una mujer que se convertirá en alguien despiadada. Sus sueños de ser músico en Estados Unidos se verán truncados, porque el destino le tiene reservado otro camino, lleno de lujos, pero también teñido de sangre.

Otro personaje de la serie original, pero aquí en su juventud, es Annalisa. Descubriremos más sobre sus inicios, cómo pasó de ser una mujer sumisa maltratada por su marido a convertirse en la despreciable Annalisa de la serie original. Una mujer que también ascenderá al poder desde cero.

Esta primera temporada solo tiene seis episodios, y espero que tenga buena acogida para que hagan más. Tantas como sean necesarias —cuatro, cinco, me da igual— con tal de que mantengan la calidad. Sé que muchos personajes morirán; solo sobrevivirán los más conocidos de la serie original. Y aunque ya sabemos el destino de Pietro, Inma y Annalisa, quiero ver cómo se desarrolló su camino hacia el poder absoluto.
