Let no one doubt that March 15th, what should be a celebration of cinema in Hollywood, will actually be a political propaganda rally for Hollywood progressives. If political proselytizing intensifies every year, this time, with all the events happening, I predict everyone will have some kind of badge against Trump, ICE, and, of course, something about Palestine and Iran.

These awards are now a showcase for millionaires living in a bubble, completely disconnected from the reality of the average citizen, to dictate moral dilemmas, try to convince people that if you don't do what they say, you're bad, and promote slogans against an apolitical trend. These people are mostly actors, many of whom didn't even finish college and who had the talent and luck to belong to the 1% of actors who earn a lot of money from it. They are, in reality, a privileged minority who dare to give advice to those who actually work hard.

Here it will be another shameful spectacle, like the Goya Awards in Spain. Selective activism is the order of the day, and speeches and struggles focus on causes dictated by the political movement that all these artists support. Here, the winners are already obvious; I know who will win Best Picture and Best Director, that much is clear. The Oscar is, in reality, for Best Activist of the Year.

As usual, I'll tell you my favorites, although it's highly unlikely they'll coincide with the actual winner. For example, of all the nominees for Best Picture, my favorite is Train Dreams. It's a classically styled film, beautifully photographed, with a message about life that touches the soul. If this film had been made about fifteen years ago, it would have swept the Oscars. It's the one I'd like to see win, but it won't; the winner will be Red Propaganda, by Paul Thomas Anderson. Although I'd love for them to spoil the filmmaker's party and give it to Sinners.

For Best Director, of the nominees, my favorite is Ryan Coogler for Sinners, but I think this film will only hold the record for most nominations. I'm sure they'll give it to Paul Thomas Anderson to inflate his ego. I adore this director, but with this film, which isn't the best of his career, I've already said it's a propaganda piece.

For Best Actor, I have several favorites; I wish I could split it among several, but I'm going with Timothée Chalamet. My other favorites are Ethan Hawke, and in third place, Michael B. Jordan. Sorry, Wagner Moura, but his performance doesn't strike me as that impactful. For Best Actress, my favorite is Rose Byrne; she certainly deserves it, but the Oscar will probably go to Jessie Buckley. I also love this actress, but her character is the only good thing about this film, which I recommend if you want to fall asleep quickly: Hamnet.

For Best Supporting Actress, my favorite is Inga Ibsdotter Lilleas. It's an intimate family drama, and she's phenomenal. I wouldn't mind so much if they gave it to Amy Madigan. Either one, but the Academy is going to reward political activism, so it's likely they'll give it to Teyana Taylor for Anderson's leftist film. For best supporting actor, my favorites are Stellan Skarsgård and Jacob Elordi, my second choice. Anyone, as long as they avoid giving it to Benicio del Toro or Sean Penn. By the way, even feminists now adore Penn; have they forgotten, or perhaps they don't know, that this man used to hit Madonna when they had a very toxic relationship?

For best international film, it will be a big duel between Sentimental Value and The Secret Agent. I liked both, but I think Brazil will win again. I feel sorry for Sirat, another film I liked, but the nomination is already its prize. It Was Just an Accident also deserves it, but the first two I mentioned are the ones up against it.

I don't want to get into the technical categories; there are too many. I'd love for the cinematographer of Dream of Trains to win the award. I think many of those categories will be decided between Sinners and Frankenstein. As for song, Las Guerreras K Pop are more than qualified in that category.

Que nadie dude de que el 15 de marzo, lo que debería ser una celebración del cine en Hollywood, en realidad será un mitin de propaganda política para los progresistas de Hollywood. Estas personas son en su mayoría actores, muchos de los cuales ni siquiera terminaron la universidad y que tuvieron el talento y la suerte de pertenecer al 1% de los actores que ganan mucho dinero con ello. Son, en realidad, una minoría que vive entre privilegios y que se atreve a dar consejos a quienes realmente trabajan duro.

Aquí será otro espectáculo vergonzoso, como los Premios Goya en España. Donde el activismo selectivo está a la orden del día, y los discursos y las luchas se centran en causas dictadas por el movimiento político que apoyan todos estos artistas. Aquí, los ganadores ya son evidentes; sé quién será la mejor película y el mejor director, eso ya está claro. El Oscar es, en realidad, para el Mejor Activista del Año.

Como casi siempre, les diré mis favoritas, aunque es muy poco probable que coincidan con el ganador real. Por ejemplo, de todas las nominadas a Mejor Película, mi favorita es Train Dreams. No quiero entrar en las categorías técnicas; hay muchas. Me encantaría que el director de fotografía de Dream of Trains ganara el premio. Creo que muchas de esas categorías se decidirán entre Sinners y Frankenstein. En cuanto a canción, Las Guerreras K Pop están más que calificadas en esa categoría.
