This week, the nominations for the 2026 Emmy Awards were announced, an award that recognizes the best of American television. Or so they say. The ceremony will be in September, specifically on Monday the 14th. It's still a while away, but I wanted to share my favorites in some categories and who I think might win, which often doesn't coincide with what I'd like to see win, but that's how it goes—it's like gambling.

I didn't pay much attention to who will be hosting the ceremony; I didn't even look up that information. I even stumbled across the nominations by chance. I've been focused on other things, besides the daily grind, watching some World Cup matches, etc. But anyway, let's clear that up, and here are my favorites and predictions.

As always, I'll start by talking about almost everything in the drama category. I'm a bit of a cynic who doesn't watch much comedy. I prefer dramas. These categories will have a sure winner, a series that isn't one of my favorites; I couldn't even get past the first few episodes. But let's move on to the Best Actor in a Drama category. My favorite is Mark Ruffalo for his role in Task. It's one of the best series, although the actor is a progressive who, when he expresses left-leaning political opinions, makes you want to punch him. I like his performance, though. Look, how can I, being right-wing, support someone on the left? They'd be incapable of doing that. But he won't win; there's only one sure winner here, and that's Noah Wyle for The Pitt.

In the Best Actress in a Drama category, I have my favorite: Rhea Seehorn for Pluribus. She should win. Zendaya doesn't stand a chance; the only one who might come close is Keri Russell. It all depends on the members of this academy who decide the winners. Rhea Seehorn deserves it, period.

For Best Supporting Actor, Tom Pelphrey. Please, this actor should win. His character is the heart of Task. His performance was wonderful. He's one of my favorite actors. The problem is that there are three actors from The Pitt, and it seems like everyone is obsessed with that show. The Hispanic nominee, nominated for Pluribus, doesn't stand a chance; the nomination is already a guaranteed win for him.

For best supporting actress, there are three nominees from The Pitt. What a shame! I don't like that show, but it seems to fascinate Americans. So I see little chance for the other nominees. Allison Janney is the veteran actress who I think could snatch the award from one of the members of The Pitt cast, although I would love for Karolina Wydra to win for Pluribus.

In the best drama category, my favorite is Pluribus, but we shouldn't take it for granted. The big winner will be The Pitt. That award is practically a sure thing. They should save themselves the ceremony and just give it to them. I repeat, I don't like The Pitt, and I already explained my reasons in a previous post.

In the miniseries category, I have two series that I think have the best chances: Bronca and DTF St. Louis. Bronca, in its first season, was a hit. This time it was a different story with new characters; it was good, but not at the level of the first. So I'd like DTF St. Louis to win, since its story captivated me more. I recommend watching both. There are two others that I don't understand what they're doing here; I didn't like them: All Her Fault and The Beast Within. I already gave my opinion on these two in previous posts. The miniseries about Kennedy Jr. is good, but I don't see it having any chance against the first two I mentioned.

The category where the competition is fierce is Best Actor in a Miniseries. Charlie Hunnam did an extraordinary job as Ed Gein. Oscar Isaac is also a strong contender for the award. Jason Bateman is nominated, but for Black Rabbit, where I didn't like him as much as in DTF St. Louis. I would give it to Charlie Hunnam, but this category is very close.

There's also the Best Actress in a Limited Series category. Here, my favorite would be Sarah Pidgeon for her role as Carolyn Bassette. Claire Danes is repeating her stereotype of a woman with mental health issues; she's been typecast since Homeland. Sarah Snook is the only one who acts well in All Her Fault, but the series was a flop for me. It's difficult to predict the outcome of this category.

If these are difficult, the Best Supporting Actor in a Deleted Series category is even more so. They all deserve it. There are three nominees from DTF St. Louis who do excellent work: Richard Gadd, Charles Melton, and Nick Offerman for Half Man, Bronca, and Death by Lightning. This is exciting. There's nothing to miss in any of them. I'm rooting for them all; whoever wins, I'll be happy. In the Best Supporting Actress in a Deleted Series category, I think the winner will be either Youn Yuh-jung for Bronca or Linda Cardellini for DTF St. Louis. Although Joy Sunday could also be among the candidates, she's also from DTF Ft. Louis.

In the Best Supporting Actress for a Cancelled Series category, I think the winner will be either Youn Yuh-jung for Bornca or Linda Cardellini for DTF St. Louis. Although Joy Sunday could also be among the nominees, she's also from DTF Ft. Louis. I don't see the others having any chance.

In the comedy categories, I think Widow's Bay has a good chance. It's a new series, and although I couldn't stand it beyond the first episode, I liked it. Sorry, I didn't like it. Maybe I'll give it another chance in the future. We have to be careful because The Bear is nominated; I don't know if it's because it's its final season. If so, since it's the finale, they could win the award for that reason. I think Jean Smart will win again for Hacks, since it's also the finale. I liked Elle Fanning for Margo Has Money Troubles. I'm not going to speculate much about these categories because I haven't seen much of them. I'll let some of you make your own posts with your favorite comedies.
