The race for American film awards is already underway. A week ago, the nominees for the Critics Choice Awards were announced, and there are several pleasant surprises for me. These awards will be the first to be presented, starting in January, and the ceremony will take place during the first week. I don't intend to watch it; I'm currently too lazy to watch these award shows, but that doesn't mean I can't give my opinion and my favorites so far.

I'll start with the most important category, Best Picture. I like the nomination for Sinners, as I said in my post about that film. I liked that film and ranked it among the best of the year. As I saw on the day of the nominations, it is the film with the most categories nominated. Although I don't think it will win the award. First, there's the adaptation of Frankenstein, also nominated. I haven't written a post about it, but even though I saw the whole thing and think it's good, it didn't impress me. My favorite, the one I'd like to see win, is Train Dreams. I loved that movie, it moved me and made me cry. For me, it's the best, and I don't care that I haven't seen the other nominees. It's my favorite in my heart.

But we know how Hollywood progressives are. Although these awards are voted on by the critics' association, I have a small hope that they will choose Train Dreams, because the favorite of Hollywood wokists is One Battle After Another,
a progressive propaganda film. In the director category, Guillermo del Toro has a good chance of winning, but Anderson's ego is huge, and if they don't give it to Anderson for his communist propaganda film, he'll go home and break chairs, plates, everything! (That's just how this guy is.)

Best Actor: I'm going to go against the grain and say that my favorite is Joel Edgerton. He deserves it, and it's about time this actor received an award. I think the competition will be between him and Ethan Hawke, who is fantastic in Blue Moon. In the Best Actress category, I don't have a clear favorite, as I haven't seen some of them. I hope to see Bugonia soon. I like seeing Rose Byrne nominated. However, I would not like to see Chase Infiniti win. Sorry, I'm not going to support anything from that red propaganda movie.

As for supporting actor, I hope the critics have better judgment and don't give anything to Sean Penn for overacting, or to Benicio del Toro for a little dance that would be ideal for a TikTok clip. Give it to Stellan Skarsgård or Jacob Elordi. As for supporting actress, I have a feeling they'll give it to Teyana Taylor's unpleasant performance. These people hate conservatives so much that they will deify Anderson's film.

Best International Film holds another pleasant surprise for me: the Spanish film Sirat is in the running. I wrote a post about the film some time ago and also included it in my list of the best. It has some strong competitors. I think La Chica Zurda and Agente Secreto could be big rivals for Sirat.

In the series category, among the nominees for best drama, there are three that I love. Separation, Ploribus, and Task. I'm sorry for the first two, they're among my favorites, but this should be Task's year. It's the best, and I don't care what the rest of the world thinks. Separation will have another season and Ploribus has just started, so it will have its moment another year. By the way, I'm preparing a post about Ploribus. I don't understand what Alien: Earth is doing here; that series started well and ended up being nonsense.

My favorite actor in drama series is Mark Ruffalo. Without a doubt. As for actresses, I want Rhea Seehorn to win. She was great in Better Call Saul, and it's about time her acting talent was recognized. This is her chance with Ploribus, where she is the absolute star. I feel sorry for Britt Lower from Separation. Maybe none of them will win and they'll play it safe and give it to Bella Ramsey. As for supporting actor, my favorite is still Task, so I want Tom Pelphrey to win, who does an extraordinary job and brings a lot of humanity to his character.

I don't usually watch many comedy series, so I don't have any favorites in those categories, nor am I interested in them. I don't care about the technical categories either. I hope my favorites win at the awards ceremony, and in the meantime, I'm going to prepare my post of favorites for the Golden Globes, which have also announced their nominations.

La carrera por los premios cinematográficos estadounidenses ya está en marcha. Hace una semana se anunciaron los nominados a los Critics Choice Awards, y hay varias sorpresas agradables para mí. Estos premios serán los primeros en entregarse, a partir de enero, y la ceremonia tendrá lugar durante la primera semana. Mejor actor: voy a ir a contracorriente y decir que mi favorito es Joel Edgerton. Se lo merece, y ya es hora de que este actor reciba un premio. Creo que La Chica Zurda y Agente Secreto podrían ser grandes rivales para Sirat.

En la categoría de series, entre los nominados a mejor drama, hay tres que me encantan. Separation, Ploribus y Task. Lo siento por las dos primeras, están entre mis favoritas, pero este debería ser el año de Task. Es la mejor, y me da igual lo que piense el resto del mundo. Separation tendrá otra temporada y Ploribus acaba de empezar, así que tendrá su momento otro año. Por cierto, estoy preparando la publicación sobre Ploribus. No entiendo qué hace aquí Alien: Earth, esa serie empezó bien y acabó siendo un sinsentido.

No suelo ver muchas series de comedia, así que no tengo favoritos en esas categorías, ni me interesan. Tampoco me importan las categorías técnicas. Espero que mis favoritos ganen en la ceremonia de entrega de premios y, mientras tanto, voy a preparar mi post de favoritos para los Globos de Oro, que también han anunciado sus nominaciones.
