An interesting film that tackles a rather sordid subject. That alone caught my attention, although it's not a perfect or complete film. It might put many people off, either because of its slow pace or because certain scenes are repulsive, since seeing psychopathy embodied in such a young person is unsettling.

The character named Fabián, a teenager who shows signs of being a monster, is a complete psychopath. We discover this unpleasant side of him little by little. Was he like that in the novel? I don't know. This film is an adaptation of a book, specifically one by an Argentinian writer, and from what little I could find online, the novel was successful and received awards when it was published.

This adaptation is by the Spanish filmmaker Fernando Franco. As a director, I saw and reviewed the film The Rite of Spring some time ago, which also dealt with a rather thorny and controversial topic that generates a lot of discussion. So it's clear that the filmmaker likes to tackle subjects that might be shocking for some viewers. He's also a screenwriter, and I've seen other films he's contributed to. I think he's an interesting filmmaker whose career is worth following.

Without giving away too much or any spoilers, I'll tell you that the film is about twin siblings Fabián and Eva. We're quickly drawn into the conflict. They're a middle-class family, doing well; they seem like the perfect family, the kind many dream of; they clearly live comfortably. Tragedy strikes, caused by a reckless act, a mistake. It's from that moment on that everything becomes quite murky.

Guilt, that human feeling that slowly consumes us. I think that's why Eva's character also remains silent about many of the horrible things she'll have to endure at the hands of the psychopath Fabián. I think she feels she deserves that awful punishment. Guilt also seems to eat away at the siblings' mother, a woman now living drugged and imprisoned by the lies she's forced to repeat.

The atmosphere is unsettling, especially with Fabián's behavior. That character perfectly embodies what a high-functioning psychopath is. Deep down, he feels nothing. He enjoys abuse, mistreatment, and humiliation, and he's a complete psychopath who makes you want to kill him. By pretending to be a good person, and with that innocent face of a young victim, most people would fall for his manipulations and lies.

Although it has a slow pace, I wasn't bored. I paid attention to everything. I just didn't like the ending. I wanted something more explicit and definitive for that part that wrapped up the story. I liked the film, but at the same time, it left me a little unsatisfied. It's still an interesting option and offers a break from Hollywood blockbusters.

Podría desanimar a mucha gente, ya sea por su ritmo lento o porque ciertas escenas provocan repulsión, ya que ver la psicopatía representada en un ser humano tan joven resulta repulsivo.

Como director, vi y reseñé la película La consagración de la primavera hace un tiempo, que también abordaba un tema bastante espinoso y controvertido que genera mucha discusión. Así que es evidente que al cineasta le gusta abordar temas que podrían resultar impactantes para algunos espectadores. También es guionista, y he visto otras películas en las que ha colaborado con su obra. Creo que es un cineasta interesante cuya carrera merece la pena seguir.

Sin desvelar demasiado ni spoilers, les diré que la película trata sobre los hermanos gemelos Fabián y Eva. Rápidamente nos vemos arrastrados al conflicto. Son una familia de clase media, a la que le va bien, parecen la familia perfecta, la que muchos sueñan; claramente viven cómodamente. La tragedia golpea, causada por una imprudencia, un error. Es a partir de ese momento que todo se vuelve bastante turbio.

La culpa, ese sentimiento humano que nos consume poco a poco. Creo que por eso el personaje de Eva también guarda silencio sobre muchas de las cosas horribles que tendrá que soportar con el psicópata Fabián. Creo que siente que merece ese desagradable castigo. La culpa también parece carcomer a la madre de los hermanos, una mujer que ahora vive drogada y prisionera de las mentiras que debe repetir.

La atmósfera es inquietante, con la actitud de Fabián. Ese personaje representa a la perfección lo que es un psicópata de alto rendimiento. En el fondo, no siente nada. Disfruta del abuso, el maltrato y la humillación, y es un completo psicópata que te dan ganas de matarlo. Fingiendo ser una buena persona, y con esa cara inocente de joven víctima, la mayoría caería en sus manipulaciones y mentiras.

Aunque tiene un ritmo lento, no me aburrí. Presté atención a todo. Simplemente no me gustó el final. Quería algo más explícito y definitivo para esa parte que cerraba la historia. Me gustó la película, pero al mismo tiempo me dejó un poco insatisfecho. Sigue siendo una opción interesante y te da un respiro de las superproducciones de Hollywood.
