I think most movie buffs have already seen The Maid, and I was the only one who hadn't seen it yet. I stayed away from any content or spoilers about this movie, although I saw very positive reviews on Twitter. Due to time constraints, I had postponed watching it until now, when I took advantage of this Carnival weekend to buy a bag of peanuts and sit down to watch the movie.

I enjoyed it. That's what matters. I liked the movie and couldn't take my eyes off it for a minute. Nothing distracted me. I didn't know it was an adaptation of a very successful novel. I had no idea that this writer has already written three books on this story, in addition to many other novels, most of which are apparently thrillers with twists and turns in their plots. I haven't read anything by this author, but from what I saw on the Internet, she's a best-selling writer.

The film has been so well received by audiences and critics alike that they have already announced that they are in pre-production for the sequel, which is an adaptation of the second book in The Housemaid series. It will once again be directed by filmmaker Paul Feig. They made the right choice with the director. This man knows how to get the most out of commercial stories and, of course, entertain audiences. My favorite of his is the movie Bridesmaids, which I found very entertaining, but he has also had some missteps in his career. For example, Ghostbusters was a movie I hated.

I don't want to give away any of the plot, but I can tell you that the story is about a woman named Millie, who is on probation and urgently needs a job. Luckily (or unfortunately), she gets hired as a maid for the Winchester family, consisting of Andrew, Nina, and their daughter Cece. They are a wealthy family, and it seems like a good job. Taking care of the house, cooking, looking after the girl, etc., but soon things start to go wrong, because nothing is what it seems. Be careful with this one, because the story has a couple of surprising twists in store for you.

The film has all the ingredients for success. It's an adaptation of a bestseller. The director knows how to entertain, and the cast serves the story well. It has its exaggerations and moments that make you go, “WTF?!” but everyone is perfect in their role. Sydney Sweeney is charming and also shows some skin here, much to the delight of us male viewers. Amanda Seyfried is another fabulous actress, and here she really made me hate her halfway through the movie. Brandon Sklenar has enough charm to fool us too. The Indian girl, on the other hand, I found somewhat unbearable.

La disfruté. Eso es lo que importa. Me gustó la película y no pude apartar la vista ni un minuto. No me distrajo nada. No sabía que se trata de la adaptación de una novela muy exitosa. No tenía ni idea de que esta escritora ya ha escrito tres libros sobre esta historia, además de muchas otras novelas, la mayoría de las cuales son aparentemente thrillers con giros y vueltas en sus tramas. No he leído nada de esta autora, pero por lo que vi en Internet, es una escritora superventas.

Sydney Sweeney es encantadora y también enseña algo de piel, para deleite de los espectadores masculinos. Amanda Seyfried es otra actriz fabulosa, y aquí realmente me hizo odiarla a mitad de la película. Brandon Sklenar también tiene suficiente encanto para engañarnos. La chica india, en cambio, me pareció un tanto insoportable.
