A year later, the adaptation of the second novel in the saga of Inspector Elena Blanco is released. The successful novels written by three male writers under the pseudonym of a woman: Carmen Mola. I already commented on this in my review of the first adaptation. La novia gitana, which you can read here.
When I wrote about The Gypsy Bride, I had set out to read the novels, which I have in digital format, but unfortunately I didn't have time to sit down and enjoy that reading. This year I've gotten out of control with time. I have read very little. So it fell to me to watch this se-second installment without being able to compare to the source material.
If you haven't seen The Gypsy Bride, I recommend you do, so you can get familiar with the characters and have more context about the new case being investigated. I'm not going to do any spoilers, you can read along at your leisure. I never do plot spoilers, I want you to watch the series. If you have read any of my movie and series posts, you know I will never spoil your viewing.
La Novia Gitana left me with very good impressions. Paco Cabezas repeats again as director of four episodes and he is complemented by three other directors who perfectly fulfill the task of making La red púrpura, an intense story, raising the level a couple of steps higher.
Un año después se estrena la adaptación de la segunda novela de la saga de la inspectora Elena Blanco. Las exitosas novelas escritas por tres escritores masculinos bajo el seudónimo de una mujer: Carmen Mola. Esto ya lo comenté en mi crítica de la primera adaptación. Cuando escribí sobre La novia gitana, me había propuesto leer las novelas, que tengo en formato digital, pero desgraciadamente no tuve tiempo de sentarme a disfrutar de esa lectura. Este año me he descontrolado con el tiempo. He leído muy poco. Así que me tocó ver esta se-segunda entrega sin poder comparar con el material de origen.
Si no has visto La novia gitana, te recomiendo que lo hagas, para que te familiarices con los personajes y tengas más contexto sobre el nuevo caso que se investiga. No voy a hacer ningún spoiler, podéis leer tranquilamente. Nunca hago spoilers de la trama, quiero que veas la serie. Si has leído alguno de mis posts de películas y series, sabes que nunca te arruinare su visionado.
La Novia Gitana me dejó muy buenas impresiones. Paco Cabezas repite de nuevo como director de cuatro episodios y le complementan otros tres directores que cumplen a la perfección la tarea de hacer de La red púrpura, una historia intensa, subiendo el nivel un par de peldaños más.
The same BAC team will face a new case. They follow the clues of the mysterious purple net after the events that occurred in The Gypsy Bride. Now, the team is assigned to a hovel, as punishment for the disaster of the previous case. If in the previous installment the nordic noir influence in the story and the photography full of shadows and dark tones stood out, this time the darkness is greater, not only in image, but also in what each character transmits. The BACs now seem like outcasts of the system, where each character must struggle in their own personal hell and also pay the price of getting into something beyond their power, with tentacles everywhere.
Inspector Blanco is obsessed with uncovering the whole purple web. He has his personal motives. I'm not going to tell, you have to see it. He has already gone beyond certain limits in The Gypsy Bride. The problem is that now he will endanger his own life, as well as the lives of his colleagues. Although it is easy to understand her, anyone in her situation would hide everything she knows. Nerea Barros once again steps into the role of Blanco, combining toughness, coldness and fragility.
The character of Zarate, a member of the BAC. She is a prisoner of her addictions. She will make a serious mistake that will turn her life into hell. Mariajo, a computer expert, will see how everything is destroyed and fate will put her in a situation where she will have to make important decisions to save the brigade. Both she and the forensic expert Buendía become more relevant in the story.
Two characters are again my favorites. Orduño, played by the great Vicente Romero, the voice of reason on many occasions. Always humorous, he is loyal to his companions, but he will also make a serious mistake that will drag him into the pits of the devil. Finally, Chesca. This tough cop, who maintains a great friendship with Orduño. No one is prepared for the hell that is coming. Excellent interpretation of the actress Lucia Martin Abello. Nothing will be the same after what happens.
El mismo equipo de la BAC se enfrentará a un nuevo caso. Siguen las pistas de la misteriosa red púrpura tras los sucesos ocurridos en La novia gitana. Ahora, el equipo es asignado a un cuchitril, como castigo por el desastre del caso anterior. Si en la anterior entrega destacaba la influencia nordic noir en la historia y la fotografía llena de sombras y tonos oscuros, esta vez la oscuridad es mayor, no sólo en imagen, sino también en lo que transmite cada personaje. Los BAC parecen ahora unos parias del sistema, donde cada personaje debe luchar en su propio infierno personal y además pagar el precio de meterse en algo que va más allá de su poder, con tentáculos por todas partes.
El inspector Blanco está obsesionado con destapar toda la red purpura. Tiene sus motivos personales. No lo voy a contar, tienes que verlo. Ya ha sobrepasado ciertos límites en La novia gitana. El problema es que ahora pondrá en peligro su propia vida, así como la de sus colegas. Aunque es fácil entenderla, cualquiera en su situación ocultaría todo lo que sabe. Nerea Barros vuelve a meterse en el papel de Blanco, combinando dureza, frialdad y fragilidad.
El personaje de Zárate, miembro de la BAC. Es prisionera de sus adicciones. Cometerá un grave error que convertirá su vida en un infierno. Mariajo, experta informática, verá como todo se destruye y el destino la pondrá en una situación en la que tendrá que tomar importantes decisiones para salvar a la brigada. Tanto ella como el forense Buendía cobran mayor relevancia en la historia.
Dos personajes vuelven a ser mis favoritos. Orduño, interpretado por el gran Vicente Romero, la voz de la razón en muchas ocasiones. Siempre con su humor, es leal a sus compañeros, pero también cometerá un grave error que le arrastrará a las fosas del diablo. Por último, Chesca. Este duro policía, que mantiene una gran amistad con Orduño. Nadie está preparado para el infierno que se avecina. Excelente interpretación de la actriz Lucía Martín Abello. Nada será igual después de lo que suceda.
Crudity, blood, viscerality, pain. The plot demanded it and I'm glad they didn't hesitate to show the most sadistic scenes. In this series you have to show the vileness of the human being, because the protagonists have to suffer. They are at their lowest hour, with their spirits shattered. They have to receive a dose of suffering, they are tortured characters. All this plays in favor of the story.
Black chronicle. Perhaps the mystery to be solved may seem a bit exaggerated. It has also been dealt with in other series and movies. But among many black legends of Spain, the disappearance and death of young girls, especially from villages, is usually related to secret organizations of the elite to commit all kinds of aberrations. There are many cases of missing girls, never to be heard from again. Also of cases in which corpses are found. One of the most famous is the Alcàsser case.
The Purple Net is a solid police thriller. The sequel to The Gypsy Bride is much better. We'll have to wait for them to adapt the third book as well.

Crudeza, sangre, visceralidad, dolor. La trama lo exigía y me alegro de que no hayan dudado en mostrar las escenas más sádicas. En esta serie hay que mostrar la vileza del ser humano, porque los protagonistas tienen que sufrir. Están en su hora más baja, con el ánimo destrozado. Tienen que recibir una dosis de sufrimiento, son personajes torturados. Todo esto juega a favor de la historia.
Crónica negra. Quizá el misterio a resolver pueda parecer un poco exagerado. También se ha tratado en otras series y películas. Pero entre muchas leyendas negras de España, la desaparición y muerte de chicas jóvenes, sobre todo de pueblos, se suele relacionar con organizaciones secretas de la élite para cometer todo tipo de aberraciones. Hay muchos casos de chicas desaparecidas, de las que nunca más se supo. También de casos en los que se encuentran cadáveres. Uno de los más famosos es el caso Alcàsser.
La Red Purpura es un sólido thriller policial. La secuela de La novia gitana es mucho mejor. Habrá que esperar a que adapten también el tercer libro.

Saludos amigo, últimamente las adaptaciones están tomando mucha fuerza y muchas de ellas han sido un gran éxito, vi la primera luego de un tiempo que salió y me pareció muy buena, donde Elena Blanco realiza un estupendo trabajo, ahora con esta continuación y los nuevos caso, será toda una maravilla. Además estar en una situación como ese no debe ser nada fácil y se necesita de mucha valentía, sin duda la buscaré. Por las opiniones y lo que leí, habrá que esperar hasta el año que viene, para ver si sacaron otra continuación y ver que pasará con toda esa red. Gracias por compartirlo con nosotros.

Muy muy interesante JC, porque eso mismo que decís al final de la reseña es real, la cruda realidad. No sólo en mujeres sino en muchos niños. Lo que mencionas de las elites es real.
Me encantará esta parte pero primero veré la anterior, así puedo entender mejor como va la historia.
La realidad es la realidad y así se debe mostrar, que la gente abra los ojos.

Si, mira primero la anterior parte. la Novia Gitana. Esta es la continuación, igual que las novelas. Espero que también adapten la tercera. A mi gusto AL novia Gitana y aqui se superan, es mejor.
