You have a friend who possesses something you desire, for example, a job that offers incredible financial benefits, a huge salary, and, in addition, luxury accommodations in different parts of the world, in paradisiacal locations. Furthermore, it's a job that offers plenty of free time to enjoy a life of luxury. That would be a dream for many... but be careful what you wish for, because something so wonderful can have a hidden, invisible side that you might regret.

That's what happens to Ryan, a chef who is going through financial difficulties. Apparently, he owes money to some unscrupulous people and has arranged to visit his good friend, also a chef, Jack. Jack has his dream job: he cooks for wealthy clients who pay him to travel to specific locations to prepare dinners for millionaires. Now that's winning the lottery. He earns up to $300,000, plus travel and accommodation expenses. Even I would want a job like that. Wouldn't you?

Fate (or Jack's decision) will place Ryan in a situation where he has to impersonate Jack, where, unfortunately, what he so desperately desires will turn into a true nightmare. It's a modest production, but that doesn't detract from its entertainment value. There's plenty of blood and a dark humor that I loved. I don't mind that some parts of the script have a few somewhat implausible moments. What the story exposes can be downright disturbing these days, with conspiracy theories about millionaires doing horrendous things proliferating online.

Filmmaker Nick Tomnay already impressed me with his debut film, The Perfect Host, and in this, his second film, he maintains his style, and the overall result is even better. Part of that credit also goes to Nick Stahl, an actor whose career seemed destined for great success, but after Terminator 3, things went downhill. In recent years, he's made a lot of terrible movies, but here he practically carries the film on his shoulders with remarkable results.

Without big movie stars or a million-dollar budget, it's a pretty sinister and entertaining story. I assure you, you'll want to watch it until the end, and of course, while you're watching what the chef has to do, even if you suspect something's up based on some clues at the beginning. The gory scenes are my favorite. I love stories that don't shy away from showing gruesome scenes.

Be careful what you wish for; it might come true, but not everything will be gold and luxury. There might be things you'll regret, and it will be too late, because there's no escape. Once you're in, you can never get out.

Además, es un trabajo que ofrece mucho tiempo libre para disfrutar de una vida de lujo. Jack tiene el trabajo de sus sueños: cocina para clientes adinerados que le pagan por viajar a lugares específicos para preparar cenas para millonarios. Eso sí que es ganar la lotería. Gana hasta 300.000 dólares, más gastos de viaje y alojamiento. Hasta yo querría un trabajo así. ¿Tú no?

El destino (o la desicion de Jack) pondrá a Ryan en una situación en la que tendrá que suplantar a Jack, donde, por desgracia, lo que tanto desea se convertirá en una auténtica pesadilla. Es una producción modesta, pero eso no le resta valor de entretenimiento. Hay mucha sangre y un humor negro que me encantó. No me importa que algunas partes del guion tengan algunos momentos algo inverosimiles. Lo que la historia expone puede ser francamente perturbador en estos tiempos, donde proliferan en internet teorías conspirativas sobre millonarios que hacen cosas horrendas.

En los últimos años, ha hecho muchas películas de mierda, pero aquí lleva la película prácticamente en solitario sobre sus hombros con resultados notables.

Sin grandes estrellas de cine ni un presupuesto millonario, es una historia bastante siniestra y entretenida. Les aseguro que querrán verla hasta el final, y por supuesto, mientras ven lo que tiene que hacer el chef, aunque sospechen algo por algunas pistas que dan al principio. Las escenas sangrientas son mis favoritas. Me encantan las historias que no se cortan a la hora de mostrar escenas truculentas.

Ten cuidado con lo que deseas; puede que se haga realidad, pero no todo será oro y lujo. Puede que haya cosas de las que te arrepientas, y será demasiado tarde, porque no hay escapatoria. Una vez que estás dentro, nunca podrás salir.
