The Lessons "All of Us Are Dead" Taught Me

Hello everyone! For today's blog, I'm gonna share my thoughts about the famous, coming-of-age, zombie apocalypse horror series "All of Us Are Dead".

Just over a week ago, when I finally decided to give the "All of Us Are Dead" series a shot. The drama series I have been watching lately were too heavy and I feel like I have absorbed the mood from them so well. So I thought maybe I'd switch genres for a time to set the tone lighter.

I bet most of you guys have already watched AOUAD but I'll still share my thoughts about it. To be honest, it's not my habit to join the hype when everyone goes crazy about a new series or movie to watch out for. I don't know, it's just my personality to be okay feeling left behind when everyone is having fun. Maybe I have my own definition of fun with the right mood, energy, and timing.

So to those who haven't watched it yet, I'll give you an overview of what the series is about.

The series is more than just a thrilling, zombie apocalypse situation. It also demonstrates how humanity, friendship, and loyalty, are being measured.

Here's the trailer:

All of Us Are Dead (Korean: 지금 우리 학교는) is a South Korean coming-of-age[2] zombie apocalypse horror streaming television series. The series mostly takes place at a high school in South Korea as a zombie apocalypse suddenly breaks out and threatens the safety of the students.

From Wikipedia

Train To Busan is the top-tier zombie apocalypse movie for me but this series hits differently for me too. It gives you a roller coaster experience-like while watching it. It has a touch of drama, comedy (surprisingly, they were able to pull off funny moments here which honestly I thought the viewers deserved because the situation itself is just too heavy to handle), romance, and thriller.

That being said, here are some of the lessons I learned while and after watching it:

Tough times bring out the best and worst in people

In times of crisis, whatever that may be, a zombie apocalypse, virus outbreak, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, or food and water shortage, that is the perfect time to see the true nature of a person. You know when you are desperate, you would do everything or anything to get what you need.

When it's survival mode, people would make sacrifices to save their loved ones, and some, sacrifice people to save themselves too. I believe that in times of crisis, the main cause of casualties is not just the catastrophe itself but treachery, selfishness, and greed instead.

I mean, if you're in a survival situation, you should save yourself, right? But not to the point that you put other people into harm to save yourself. That's not fair.

You are your own savior

In times like this, there's no one you can rely on to but yourself. It's just so ironic to know when the cause of one's death is not because of a catastrophe but because of betrayal. What hurts the most is that humans are supposed to help and survive together. However, there are just some of them who don't have a conscience and even attack each other for inconsiderable, illogical reasons.

Hatred is contagious, but so is trust.

Both of these strong emotions can create a ripple effect on a community. Hatred is so negative that it could be transmitted to those around them. It is important to monitor one's reason why they feel that emotion.

Trust is so precious but everyone gets tricked by it. It's crazy how someone could play with your emotions and earn your trust right away. These people have easy targets especially those who are gullible. Notice how manipulation is being portrayed here too, right?

Hatred can be damaging and destructive but on the other hand, trust could also foster positivity, empathy, and mutual respect to one another if carefully checked. It promotes a more harmonious and inclusive society.

Violence begets violence

The series clearly shows how bullying takes effect on a person. It is evident how long a person can go to get revenge. Bullying has been and is still a rampant issue in Korea, even in the entire universe I strongly believe. There are a lot of movies or series showing bullying as their theme, influencing a message that it's never acceptable to do such things like this.

I just don't get why they bully other people. Will that make them a great person? Are they so cool with themselves? I get that each person has inner struggles but it is wrong to bully or hurt other people as their avenue.

Nothing compares to a parent's love for their child

In the series, it can be seen how parents value their children so much. They would do everything to save their children in their own way. Their love is unconditional and they are willing to sacrifice themselves to save their children.

Overall, it was a great experience watching the series. One of the best zombie apocalypse series I have watched. Other than the thrill that it offers, it's a total experience of witnessing every scene with loyalty, betrayal, humanity, and revenge. If I were to give a rating to this series, I would rate this as 9.5/10.

And by the way, there's something we should watch out for because they're on the verge of preparing for Season 2 already. I'm so excited!

I know I learnt a lot from this series but I wouldn't have thought the lessons in it were this much, you outlined them rightly.

It's a series to remember, nice way of reviewing it 💯
