RE: NOOB FILM REVIEW - HUNGRY GHOST DINER directed by We Jun Cho

I love it when genre films (like this one, with supernatural touches) use magical elements to tell a very human story with deep roots. Using the pandemic as a catalyst for Bonnie to reconnect with her past and her gift is very clever on a narrative level. What captivates me most is the subtle criticism you mention: that of trying to modernize the family business at all costs (instead of honoring its “charm, romance, and soul”. That's a universal conflict! You see the protagonist trying to create a modern franchise, but the real answer lies in ancient wisdom, in the roots of her parents' store. I'll make a note of that right away!
