I totally agree with you about the filler episodes. There was a moment in the middle of the season when I almost jumped ship because I felt like we weren't making any progress, but episode 9 more than paid the debt. The opening village scene you describe was chilling precisely because of what you say: there is no evil, just absolute indifference and efficiency. The goat thing broke my heart. 🐐💔

The goat really did break my heart lol. It's funny how a pet can have more impact on us than the millions of people that died in the early stages of the show.
I have a few friends who walked away from the show entirely in the middle because they got bored. I can completely understand why but I encouraged them to go back and finish it when they have time. They have a lot of time to get this done after all!
