RE: Went back to re-watch "The A-Team" series and it was a mistake

The truth is, I never actually watched the series (I think...). I found what you said about the explosions and "family-friendly" shootouts where nobody ever dies hilarious; it sounds totally surreal from today's perspective, haha. I guess it's a classic case of nostalgia playing tricks on us and making us idealize childhood memories. I'll take your advice and stick with the iconic image I have from afar without trying to watch it now, lest I find it ridiculous too. Thanks for the heads-up so I don't waste my time!

I think the rules changed a lot since those times. Back in those days you couldn't have a show on during prime time if there was so much as blood in it or any swearing at all. So in order to secure a good timeslot which I guess would have been 6-9 PM, you needed to make everything family-friendly. I was too young to really know what went on for TV past those hours because my parents were actually pretty strict about the sort of things we were allowed to see.
I recall that they knew I liked fantasy and really wanted to see Conan the Barbarian but my mom knew there was a bunch of boobs and sex in it so she rented another VCR and then meticulously went through the movie and paused the taping VCR during all the sex scenes. That woman was a saint to even bother letting me see the rest of it which was filled with loads of violence but I was a pretty good kid and read a lot of books and did well in school so I will be forever grateful that she sat through a 90 minute video pausing it just to skip the naughty parts but still letting me get the rest of the story.
