Hello everyone, my friends at Hive, I hope you're all feeling great today. On this occasion, I want to talk a little about the movie "Another Round" - it's one of those movies that really gets you going. If you haven't seen it yet, hold on because you're in for a crazy ride, filled with emotions, laughter, and some really deep questions about life. The plot is about a really weird but gripping experiment: four middle-aged teachers, all of them kind of down in their lives, decide to test out a crazy theory. They say that maintaining a constant, small level of alcohol in their blood - just a little, 0.05% - could improve their performance in life and even their will to live!

I know, it sounds totally crazy, but it makes you wonder: is there a secret formula to revive that spark we thought was lost? The heart of the film is Martin, played by the incredible Mads Mikkelsen. At first, you see him and he is the picture of total resignation: a teacher who gives boring classes because his personal life is just as dull: distant at home, his marriage lacks spark, even with his students, he shows his apathy. But this is where the film really hooks you: when Martin and his friends embark on this alcohol experiment, something in him begins to change. Watching Martin transform is like watching a caterpillar turn into a butterfly. Suddenly, the guy who seemed to have resigned himself to a boring life is full of energy and enthusiasm... it's not just being drunk, it's as if he's rediscovered life, passion, and, even if only for a little while, the hope that things can get better... I have to say, Mads Mikkelsen's performance is BRUTAL.

There's something about him that draws you in, showing you that perfect balance between feeling vulnerable and being on top of his game. His eyes, his small gestures, everything conveys a ton of emotions. One moment you see a spark in his eyes, as if he's rediscovering something he thought was dead; the next, you see a profound sadness as the problems of the experiment begin to emerge. For me, it's one of those performances that makes you forget you're watching a movie; you feel like you're seeing the soul of a guy searching for something without quite knowing what it is.

Hola a todos, amigos de Hive, espero que se encuentren súper bien hoy, en tsa ocasión quiero hablarles un poco de la película "Another Round".. es de esas pelis que te taladran la cabeza, si todavía no la han visto, agárrense porque se van a ir en un viaje loco de emociones, risas y unas preguntas bien profundas sobre la vida, la trama va de un experimento rarísimo pero que te atrapa: cuatro profes de mediana edad, todos medio bajoneados con sus vidas, deciden probar una teoría loquísima, dicen que mantener un nivel pequeño constante de alcohol en la sangre –así poquito, un 0.05%– ¡podría mejorar cómo rinden la vida y hasta las ganas de vivir!

Ya sé, suena a locura total, pero de una te deja pensando: ¿será que hay una fórmula secreta para revivir esa chispa que creíamos perdida? El corazón de la peli es Martin, que lo hace el increíble Mads Mikkelsen, al principio lo ves y es la imagen de la resignación total: un profe que da clases aburridísimas porque su vida personal es igual de apagada, distante en casa, su matrimonio sin chispa, hasta con los alumnos se le nota la apatía. Pero aquí es donde la peli te engancha de verdad: cuando Martin y sus amigos se lanzan con este experimento del alcohol, algo en él empieza a cambiar, ver cómo se transforma Martin es como ver una oruga volverse mariposa, de repente, el tipo que parecía que se había resignado a una vida aburrida, está lleno de energía y entusiasmo.. no es solo estar borracho, es como si redescubriera la vida, la pasión y, aunque sea por un ratito, la esperanza de que las cosas pueden mejorar.. tengo que decirlo, la actuación de Mads Mikkelsen es BRUTAL.

Tiene algo que te atrapa y te muestra ese equilibrio perfecto entre sentirse vulnerable y estar a tope, sus ojos, los gestos chiquitos, todo te transmite un montón de emociones.. en un momento lo ves con una chispa en los ojos, como si redescubriera algo que creía muerto; al siguiente, le ves una tristeza profunda cuando empiezan a aparecer los problemas del experimento. Para mí, es de esas actuaciones que te hacen olvidar que estás viendo una película; sientes que estás viendo el alma de un tipo que anda buscando algo sin saber bien qué es.

Another point the film has is the connection between the four teachers... you can tell there's real chemistry between them; they're not just coworkers, they're partners in this somewhat crazy adventure! An adventure born from laughter, yes, but also from that quiet desperation to get away from the routine. I swear I laughed a lot at the crazy things they did, I felt the good vibes between them, and I even got a little creeped out when they messed up. But it's not just about alcohol, but about a small group of friends who, without realizing it, are experimenting with life itself. Now, let's talk about how great and at the same time hard this movie is. On the one hand, they show you the euphoria of the beginning, that idea that with a few drinks a world of possibilities opens up. Martin feels more alive, more charismatic, more self-confident...

His classes get better, his students love him, and even his marriage seems to have a new spark... but just when you're letting this magic take over, the film hits you with a cold shower. It's not all rosy, my people... as the story progresses, it shows you that the line between having control and losing it is thinner than it seems, a brutal reminder of how easy it is to fall into a hole from which you may not be able to get out. And I loved that the film doesn't give you the simplistic message of "alcohol is bad, bad, bad." On the contrary, it leaves you thinking, filling your head with questions instead of giving you answers. It invites you to reflect on the role alcohol plays in our lives. Is it just a bane, or can it really help us connect with parts of ourselves we thought were lost? That ambiguity is what makes it so refreshing and interesting... it doesn't tell you what to think, it shows you both sides of the coin and leaves you with a dilemma that will turn your head.

Otro punto que tiene la película, es la conexión que tienen los cuatro profes.. se nota que hay química de verdad entre ellos, no son solo compañeros de trabajo, ¡son compinches en esta aventura medio loca! Una aventura que nace de las risas, sí, pero también de esa desesperación callada por salir de la rutina, te juro que me reí un montón con las locuras que hacían, sentí la buena onda que había entre ellos, y hasta me dio cosita cuando metían la pata. Pero no solo se trata de alcohol, sino de un grupito de amigos que, sin darse cuenta, están experimentando con la vida misma, ahora, hablemos de lo genial y a la vez lo dura que es esta peli. Por un lado, te muestran la euforia del principio, esa idea de que con unas copitas encima se te abre un mundo de posibilidades, Martin se siente más vivo, más carismático, con más confianza en sí mismo..

Sus clases se vuelven mejores, los alumnos lo aman, y hasta en su matrimonio parece que hay una chispa nueva.. pero justo cuando te estás dejando llevar por esta magia, la película te pega un baldazo de agua fría. No todo es color de rosa, mi gente.. a medida que avanza la historia, te muestra que la línea entre tener el control y perderlo es más fina de lo que parece, te recuerda de una manera brutal lo fácil que es caer en un pozo del que quizás no puedas salir. Y me encantó que la peli no te venga con el mensaje facilista de "el alcohol es malo, malo, malo".. al contrario, te deja pensando, te llena la cabeza de preguntas en lugar de darte respuestas.. te invita a reflexionar sobre el papel que juega el alcohol en nuestras vidas, ¿es solo una perdición o de verdad nos puede ayudar a conectar con partes de nosotros mismos que creíamos perdidas? Esa ambigüedad es lo que la hace tan refrescante e interesante.. no te dice qué pensar, te muestra las dos caras de la moneda y te deja con un dilema que te va a dar vueltas en la cabeza.

The film, directed by Thomas Vinterberg, is insane. He has a knack for blending comedy and drama that I swear never feels forced! His way of telling the story, which takes you from super light and almost absurd moments to others that touch your soul, makes the film a roller coaster ride. It always surprises you... and when I found out that Vinterberg was going through a really tough time with the death of his daughter while filming the movie, it all hit me even harder! Knowing that this story was born in the midst of a real tragedy gives it an extra thrill. It's not just a movie about drunks; it's a reflection on how fragile life is and how we try to deal with the ugly things that happen to us, with those disappointments that bring your spirits down. This film was nominated for an Oscar, not just for Best International Film, but also for Best Director. Beyond the awards, this shows the impact it had, how the story reached people and critics alike.

It's unusual for a film about teachers experimenting with alcohol to receive this recognition, which makes it even more special. For me, personally, "Another Round" touched my heart in a way I didn't expect. I've always loved stories about change and transformation, and this film explores that in an honest, real way. It made me think about those little experiments we all do in life, those moments when we dare to break away from our routine, to try something different, to find the spark in life when everything seems the same. The film left me with a mixture of nostalgia, hope, and a touch of sadness, but a beautiful kind of sadness, it's rare, haha.

La película, la dirección de Thomas Vinterberg es una locura, el tipo tiene un don para mezclar comedia y drama que te juro, nunca se siente forzado, para nada! Su forma de contar la historia, que te lleva de momentos súper ligeros y casi absurdos a otros que te tocan el alma, hace que la peli sea una montaña rusa, siempre te sorprende.. y cuando me enteré de que Vinterberg estaba pasando por un momento durísimo, por la muerte de su hija, mientras filmaba la película, ¡todo me pegó todavía más fuerte! Saber que esta historia nació en medio de una tragedia real le da una emoción extra, no es solo una película sobre borrachos, es una reflexión sobre lo frágil que es la vida y cómo intentamos lidiar con las cosas feas que nos pasan, con esas decepciones que te bajan el ánimo. Esta película estuvo nominada al Oscar, y no solo a Mejor Película Internacional, sino también a Mejor Director, más allá de los premios, esto demuestra el impacto que tuvo, cómo la historia le llegó a la gente y a los críticos por igual.

No es normal que una película sobre profes que andan experimentando con alcohol reciba este reconocimiento, eso la hace aún más especial, a mí, personalmente, "Another Round" me llegó al corazón de una manera que no esperaba. Siempre me han encantado las historias de cambios, de transformaciones, y esta peli lo explora de una forma honesta, de verdad.. me puso a pensar en esos pequeños experimentos que todos hacemos en la vida, esos momentos en los que nos animamos a salir de la rutina, a probar algo diferente, a buscarle la chispa a la vida cuando todo parece igual. La película me dejó con una mezcla de nostalgia, esperanza y un toque de tristeza, pero de esa tristeza bonita, es raro jaja.

It's interesting to see how it plays with humor and simultaneously inflicts existential questions. I swear I laughed too much in some scenes, felt that wave of camaraderie between friends in others, and suddenly, a cold bucket of reality hits you. That roller coaster of emotions is what makes it so addictive, wanting to know how far these characters will go and how they will deal with the problems they bring upon themselves. It's great because the film captures that contradictory vibe of alcohol: it can make you feel alive, confident, even invincible for a while, but it can also get you into a mess that's hard to get out of. How far is it worth it? Where's the middle ground between having a good time and losing control?

If I had to give it a grade, I'd give it an 8.5/10. It's a film that dares to ask questions without giving you the answers pre-cooked, with performances that leave you crazy and a story that is personal but that we can all understand... there were a couple of moments where perhaps I would have liked it to be a little darker, and others where the humor was too much, but overall, it's a gem of a film! Es interesante ver cómo juega con el humor y al mismo tiempo te mete unas preguntas existenciales, te juro que me reí demasiado en algunas escenas, sentí esa onda de camaradería entre los amigos en otras, y de repente, te cae el balde de agua fría de la realidad. Esa montaña rusa de emociones es lo que la hace tan adictiva, queriendo saber hasta dónde van a llegar estos personajes y cómo van a lidiar con los problemas que se buscan, es genial porque la película capta esa onda contradictoria del alcohol: te puede hacer sentir vivo, confiado, hasta invencible por un rato, pero también te puede meter en un lío del que es difícil salir. ¿Hasta dónde vale la pena? ¿Dónde está el punto medio entre pasarla bien y perder el control?

Si tuviera que ponerle nota, le daría un 8.5/10. Es una película que se anima a hacer preguntas sin darte las respuestas masticadas, con unas actuaciones que te dejan loco y una historia que es personal pero que todos podemos entender.. hubo un par de momentos donde quizás me hubiera gustado que se pusiera un poquito más oscura, y otros donde el humor se pasó volando, pero en general, ¡es una joyita de película!
