Hello everyone, fans of good stories, I hope you are all doing super well, this time I want to give you my opinions on the movie “Inmaculada” the premise is the following: an American girl, all excited, arrives in Italy to start a new life and ends up pregnant in an old convent, out of nowhere.. from then on, the idea totally bought me, the thing is that it is controversial, mysterious and leaves you wondering what the heck is going on in a supposedly sacred place, it is interesting to see how horror gets involved with religious themes, this movie falls perfectly into that subgenre of horror about nuns that is super fashionable.. if you liked “The Nun” or “Sister Death”, here you will see something similar, it is great to see how they make nods to the horror classics, it has references to “The Exorcist”, “The Omen” and even “Rosemary’s Baby” .. these references are not gratuitous, they give more depth to the story, as if to say: “Yes, we know where we come from, but we are going to give it our touch”.

Another strong point is Sydney Sweeney, who not only stars as Cecilia—an innocent girl who transforms into someone brave—but also produced the film. For me, that's a huge plus. It's unusual to see an actress like her so involved in the production, especially when she's been pigeonholed into pretty girl roles. Here, Sydney breaks out of that mold and shows us she's truly talented. Her evolution in the film is, for me, one of the best parts.

Hola a todos, fanáticos de las buenas historias, espero que estén súper bien bien esta ocasión les quiero dar mis opiniones sobre la película “Inmaculada” la premisa es la siguiente: una chica gringa, toda ilusionada, llega a Italia para empezar una nueva vida y termina embarazada en un convento antiguo, de la nada.. ya desde ahí, la idea me compró totalmente, es que la cosa es controversial, misteriosa y te deja pensando qué rayos está pasando en un lugar dizque sagrado, es interesante ver cómo el terror se mete con temas religiosos, está película cae perfecto en ese subgénero de terror de monjas que está súper de moda.. si les gustó “La Monja” o “Hermana Muerte”, aquí verán algo similar, es genial ver cómo hacen guiños a los clásicos del terror, tiene referencias a “El Exorcista”, “La Profecía” y hasta “El Bebé de Rosemary”.. estas referencias no son gratuitas, le dan más profundidad a la historia, como diciendo: “Sí, sabemos de dónde venimos, pero le vamos a dar nuestro toque”.

Otro punto fuerte, Sydney Sweeney, que no solo actúa como Cecilia –una chica inocente que se transforma en alguien valiente– sino que también produjo la película, para mí, eso es un mega plus.. no es común ver a una actriz como ella tan metida en la producción, sobre todo cuando la han encasillado en papeles de chica linda. Aquí, Sydney se sale de ese molde y nos muestra que tiene mucho talento.. su evolución en la película es, para mí, de lo mejor.

And speaking of the convent, for me, the convent is like another character in the film... at first, they paint it as a place of peace, a place to pray and relax, but as the film progresses, it starts to feel heavier, stranger... the tension is cut like a knife, and there were moments when I truly felt like something bad was going to happen at any second... that contrast between the sacred and the murky is what gives "Inmaculada" its atmosphere. Now, it's not perfect either, let's be honest, sometimes they overuse the "jump scares" a little, those sudden scares that, yes, make you jump, but if you use them too much, the resource feels cheap. There were scenes where the tension was incredible, but suddenly, bam! An easy scare that kind of threw you off. It's as if the director couldn't decide whether he wanted to make psychological horror or pure scares and gore.

But leaving aside the fear and the gore, what I really found interesting is how it touches on strong themes, the film puts on the table things like unwanted motherhood, control over your body, misogyny in the Church and religious fanaticism... it doesn't give you easy answers, it just presents them to you and leaves you wondering what's up... Personally, I like films that go beyond the scare and leave you with something in your head, this one, although it doesn't always come out perfect, does leave you thinking for a long time after the credits end.

Y hablando del convento, para mí, el convento es como otro personaje más de la película.. al principio, te lo pintan como un lugar de paz, un lugar para rezar y estar tranqui, pero, a medida que avanza la película, se empieza a sentir más pesado, más raro.. la tensión se corta con cuchillo, y hubo momentos en los que de verdad sentía que en cualquier segundo iba a pasar algo feo.. ese contraste entre lo sagrado y lo turbio es lo que le da el toque a la atmósfera de “Inmaculada”. Ahora, tampoco es perfecta, seamos sinceros, a veces abusan un poquito de los “jump scares”, esos sustos de golpe que, sí, te hacen saltar, pero si los usas mucho, como que se siente barato el recurso, hubo escenas donde la tensión iba increíble, pero de repente ¡zas! susto fácil y como que te sacaba de onda, es como si el director no se decidiera si quería hacer terror psicológico o puro susto y sangre.

Pero dejando de lado el miedo y lo sangriento, lo que de verdad me pareció interesante es cómo toca temas fuertes, la película te pone sobre la mesa cosas como la maternidad no deseada, el control sobre tu cuerpo, la misoginia en la Iglesia y el fanatismo religioso.. no te da respuestas fáciles, solo te las plantea y te deja pensando qué onda.. a mí, personalmente, me gustan las pelis que van más allá del sustito y te dejan algo en la cabeza, esta, aunque no siempre le sale perfecto, sí te deja pensando un rato largo después de que terminan los créditos.

When I looked it up, I was curious, yes, but also kind of not really looking forward to it. I didn't know if the movie was going to blow my mind or if I was going to be disappointed. Luckily, there were several parts that I liked. There's a plot twist that, without spoiling too much, I didn't expect at all, and that, in these kinds of movies, is greatly appreciated. But of course, there were things that didn't quite fit me, some parts of the story I sort of saw coming, and some secondary characters were left in limbo... there were people in the convent who promised more, but they stayed there, like ornaments, without really contributing much to the plot. I'm not the only one who says this. I've seen several reviews that say the same thing, that the movie had a lot more to offer.

Now, speaking of blood and violence, I can tell you that the film doesn't hold anything back. If you like movies with a lot of blood and intense scenes, you'll find plenty of them here. The effects are well done, but for me, personally, at times, I felt the violence was more of a shock value trick than something that truly disturbs you. Don't get me wrong, there are scenes that make you uncomfortable, but in others, the blood feels more like a quick scare than something key to the story.

Cuando la busque, tenía curiosidad, sí, pero también como que no tenía muchas ganas, no sabía si la peli me iba a volar la cabeza o si iba a salir decepcionado, por suerte, hubo varias partes que me gustaron, hay un giro en la trama que, sin spoilearles mucho, no me lo esperaba para nada, y eso, en este tipo de pelis, se agradece un montón. Pero claro, hubo cositas que no me cuadraron tanto, algunas partes de la historia como que ya las veía venir, y algunos personajes secundarios quedaron medio en el limbo.. había gente en el convento que prometía para más, pero se quedaron ahí, como adornos, sin que realmente aportaran mucho a la trama, no soy el único que lo dice, he visto varias reseñas que comentan lo mismo, que la peli tenía mucho más jugo que sacarle.

Ahora, hablando de sangre y violencia, les digo que la peli no se guarda nada, si les gustan las pelis con mucha sangre y escenas fuertes, aquí van a encontrar varias.. los efectos están bien hechos, pero a mí, personalmente, a veces sentía que la violencia era más como un truco para impactar que algo que realmente te perturba. No me malinterpreten, hay escenas que te incomodan, pero en otras, la sangre se siente más como para el susto fácil que como algo clave para la historia.

It's not one of those movies that you quickly forget, although it sometimes falls into clichés, that mix of horror with social criticism gives it a different touch, I liked that it doesn't treat you like an idiot and that it dares to touch on topics that make you think and discuss... that, for me, always adds points to a horror movie. After seeing it, I was debating what it meant, what's up with the symbols and what will happen to Sydney Sweeney as an actress and producer... it's one of those movies that gives you something to talk about, and I like that a lot, obviously, it has its flaws - easy scares that are too much, characters that didn't take advantage of themselves, and the story could have been better told - but in the end, it delivers what it promises: to make you uncomfortable, to provoke you and to have you there, glued to the screen until the end.

If you like horror that makes you think and also delivers a few good scares, it deserves a chance. I give it a 7/10, it's not a masterpiece, and in some parts I was left wanting more, but the ambition that is seen and Sydney Sweeney's commitment make it different from other horror movies, in a world where many horror movies are more of the same, it's refreshing to see one that tries to do something different, even if it doesn't always turn out perfectly. So, tell me, would you dare to enter a convent where nothing is what it seems, where every shadow hides something and where what is faith and what is terror are all confused? No es de esas pelis que se te olvidan rápidamente, si bien a veces cae en clichés, esa mezcla de terror con crítica social le da un toque diferente, me gustó que no te trate como tonto y que se anime a tocar temas que te hacen pensar y discutir.. eso, para mí, siempre suma puntos en una peli de terror. Después de verla, estuve debatiendo qué significaba, qué onda con los símbolos y qué va a pasar con Sydney Sweeney como actriz y productora.. es de esas pelis que te dan tema de conversación, y eso a mí me gusta mucho, obvio, tiene sus fallitas – sustos fáciles de más, personajes que no aprovecharon, y la historia pudo estar mejor contada – pero al final, cumple lo que promete: incomodarte, provocarte y tenerte ahí, pegado a la pantalla hasta el final.

Si a ti te gusta el terror que te hace pensar y también pegar unos buenos sustos, merece que le des una oportunidad.. Le doy un 7/10, no es una obra maestra, y en algunas partes me quedé con ganas de más, pero la ambición que se ve y el compromiso de Sydney Sweeney la hacen diferente a otras pelis de terror, en un mundo donde muchas pelis de terror son más de lo mismo, es refrescante ver una que intenta hacer algo distinto, aunque no siempre le salga perfecto. Así que, díganme ustedes, ¿se animarían a entrar a un convento donde nada es lo que parece, donde cada sombra esconde algo y donde lo que es fe y lo que es terror se confunde todo?
