Hello everyone, fellow fans of good stories. Today it’s time for a new review. I’m going to talk about an animated flick that has become one of my favorites... what an insane movie. You know that feeling when you leave the theater and the real world just feels… gray, like something is missing? Well, that's me right now. Let's be honest, with DreamWorks you never know what to expect; their filmography is a rollercoaster. They give you gems and then suddenly… poof, they release a dud. This one is so, so good it makes you want to scream, "DreamWorks is back, dammit!" But then you calm down and think… "hold on, they never really left." That's just how they are, what can you do? It seems like they gather all their talent and save it to unleash it all at once in a single film that leaves us all speechless. But what honestly blew my mind the most is that this movie feels more like old-school Pixar than DreamWorks itself.

And I think, aside from The Prince of Egypt—which is in a league of its own, a truly epic thing—this is the first film of theirs I can say that about. Because think about it, their other blockbusters like Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, or How to Train Your Dragon are incredible, but they all have that very distinct DreamWorks DNA, you know, that vibe of slightly ironic humor, full of pop culture references... it suits a character like Shrek perfectly. This movie… has none of that. It has a different soul, a different heart, and thank goodness for that, because that style wouldn't have worked here at all. Like, AT ALL.

Hola a todos, amigos fanáticos de las buenas historias, hoy toca contarles una nueva reseña, les voy a hablar de una peli animada que se convirtió en una de mis favoritas.. qué locura de película. ¿Ubican esa sensación de salir del cine y que el mundo real se siente… gris, como si le faltara algo? Bueno, así estoy yo ahorita mismo.. es que, seamos honestos, con DreamWorks uno nunca sabe qué esperar, su filmografía es una montaña rusa, te dan joyas y de repente… puf, te sacan un. Es tan, pero tan buena que te provoca gritar: "¡DreamWorks regresó, carajo!". Pero luego te calmas y piensas… "aver, es que nunca se fueron".. así son ellos, qué le vamos a hacer.. parece que juntan todo su talento y lo guardan para soltarlo de golpe en una sola película que nos deja a todos con la boca abierta, pero lo que más me voló la cabeza, honestamente, es que esta película se siente más del Pixar de la vieja escuela que del propio DreamWorks.

Y creo que, fuera de El Príncipe de Egipto —que esa ya juega en otra liga, es una cosa épica—, esta es la primera película de ellos de la que puedo decir algo así. Porque piénsenlo, sus otros peliculones como Shrek, Kung Fu Panda o Cómo entrenar a tu dragón son increíbles, pero todas tienen ese ADN de DreamWorks muy marcado, ya saben, esa onda de humor medio irónico, lleno de referencias pop.. un personaje como Shrek le queda perfecto. Esta película… no tiene nada de eso.. tiene otra alma, otro corazón, y menos mal, porque ese estilo no habría funcionado aquí para nada, pero para NADA.

And let's talk about the voices, because the cast is star-studded, but I swear you won't even notice. I had absolutely no idea I was listening to Pedro Pascal or Mark Hamill until I saw their names in the credits. They completely disappear into their characters, blending in perfectly, you know? Just like a good voice actor is supposed to do. Lupita Nyong'o's performance as the robot, Roz… my God. What a level of acting. You hear her deliver these super simple and repetitive lines, but somehow she infuses them with a growing sense of joy and curiosity, letting you see that there's something much deeper, an emotion the robot is just beginning to discover. It's an incredible acting balance, and she nails it.

But the heart of the film, what truly broke me completely—in a good way, of course—is the relationship between Roz and her adopted son, a little gosling. The entire movie is a beautiful and super powerful journey about motherhood and the whole debate of what carries more weight, nature or nurture. I’m talking about crying, twice. The script is so intelligent, so powerful in the way it places a robot's programming and animal instincts on the same level. You have this super-advanced piece of technology, whose sole purpose is to complete tasks, and suddenly it's faced with raising a living being. And all its technology and programming are useless when the gosling needs warmth, food, or… just love. She has to dig into her own circuits, improvise, and learn. She basically has to rewrite her own code to become a mom. It's a perfect metaphor for what it's like to be a parent in real life, where everything you thought you knew is useless when you see that little person who depends on you, and all you can do is learn as you go.

Y a ver, hablemos de las voces, porque el cast está plagado de estrellas, pero les juro que ni se van a dar cuenta.. yo no tenía ni la más remota idea de que estaba escuchando a Pedro Pascal o a Mark Hamill hasta que vi sus nombres en los créditos.. es que desaparecen por completo en sus personajes, se mezclan perfecto, ¿saben? Como se supone que lo tiene que hacer un buen actor de voz.. lo de Lupita Nyong'o como la robot, Roz… Dios santo. Qué nivel de actuación, la escuchas decir estas frases súper simples y repetitivas, pero de alguna forma les mete una sensación de alegría y de curiosidad que va creciendo, que te deja ver que hay algo mucho más profundo, una emoción que la robot apenas está empezando a descubrir, es un equilibrio actoral brutal, y la clava.

Pero el corazón de la película, lo que de verdad me rompió por completo —para bien, claro—, es la relación entre Roz y su hijo adoptivo, un gansito.. toda la película es un viaje hermoso y súper potente sobre la maternidad y todo ese debate de qué pesa más, si la naturaleza o la crianza.. Les estoy hablando de llorar, dos veces.. es que el guion es tan inteligente, tan poderoso en la forma en que pone al mismo nivel la programación de un robot y los instintos animales. Tienes a esta pieza de tecnología súper avanzada, cuyo único propósito es cumplir tareas, y de repente se topa con que tiene que criar a un ser vivo.. y toda su tecnología y su programación no le sirven de nada cuando el gansito necesita calor, comida o… simplemente amor. Tiene que escarbar en sus propios circuitos, improvisar y aprender, básicamente tiene que reescribir su propio código para convertirse en mamá, es una metáfora perfecta de lo que es ser padre en la vida real, donde todo lo que creías saber no te sirve de nada cuando ves a esa personita que depende de ti, y solo te queda aprender sobre la marcha.

And something I truly loved is that this is a children's movie that doesn't treat you like you're dumb. It refuses to soften the harsh realities of nature; it shows you in a super raw way what a bunch of animals on an island would be like, and that includes death. The movie is very direct about what happened to Brightbill's family, and they use that tragedy to create a drama that hits you hard. You know what the best part is? They don't save that card for the end, to drop a super cheap and manipulative plot twist on you to create a false conflict. No! They drop it in the middle of the film, and it feels like a moment of real, well-earned growth for the characters. It allows you as a viewer to process these more mature themes in a way that feels respectful, even for the little ones who might be learning about loss for the first time.

Even the humor plays with this. It's not the typical silly or pop-culture-filled joke; on the contrary, much of the humor comes from how cold and harsh nature can be. There was a joke with some possum babies... folks, I swear I laughed so hard precisely because it was super dry humor, completely grounded in the reality of the animal world. And the concept! I mean, a robot that gets shipwrecked on a wild island and starts raising a goose? It's such a weird but creative idea, the kind that seems to have come from a Pixar or Disney brainstorming session 20 years ago. Yes, it takes all those clichés we already know—the robot who learns to feel, the single dad who doesn't know what he's doing, the family you choose, the funny animal sidekicks, even the kinda meh villain at the end—but it mixes them in a way that feels completely new.

They took ingredients we already knew and baked us a cake with a flavor we'd never tasted before. And visually… uff, the movie is a feast for the eyes. The animation is insane, a thing of beauty, using that hand-painted style that mixes 3D and 2D that's become so trendy, and here it looks spectacular. Every scene is there to support the story, to give strength to the tone. It's not just animation for showing off; it's beautiful because the story needs it to be. The world feels lush, alive, and, at times, genuinely dangerous

Y algo que me encantó, pero de verdad, es que es una película para niños que no te trata como si fueras tonto, se niega a suavizarte las cosas duras de la naturaleza, te muestra de forma súper cruda cómo sería un montón de animales en una isla, y eso incluye la muerte. La película es súper directa sobre lo que le pasó a la familia de Piquillo, y usan esa tragedia para crear un drama que te pega durísimo.. saben qué es lo mejor? Que no se guardan esa carta para el final, para soltarte un giro de guion súper barato y manipulador para crear un conflicto falso, no! Lo sueltan a mitad de la película, y se siente como un momento de crecimiento real, bien ganado para los personajes.. te permite como espectador procesar esos temas más maduros de una forma que se siente respetuosa, incluso para los más chiquitos que quizás están aprendiendo sobre la pérdida por primera vez, hasta el humor juega con esto.

No es el típico chiste tonto o lleno de referencias pop, al contrario, mucho del humor viene de lo fría y dura que puede ser la naturaleza.. hubo un chiste con unas crías de zarigüeya... gente, les juro que me reí más fuerte, justo porque era un humor súper seco, súper plantado en la realidad del mundo animal.. el concepto! O sea, ¿un robot que naufraga en una isla salvaje y se pone a criar un ganso? Es una idea rarísima pero tan creativa, de esas que parecen salidas de una lluvia de ideas de Pixar o Disney de hace 20 años.. sí, agarra todos esos clichés que ya conocemos —el robot que aprende a sentir, el papá soltero que no sabe qué hacer, la familia que uno elige, los animalitos chistosos que ayudan, hasta el villano medio meh para el final— pero los mezclan de una forma que se siente completamente nueva.

Agarraron ingredientes que ya conocíamos y nos hornearon un pastel con un sabor que nunca habíamos probado.. y visualmente… uff, la película es un manjar. La animación es una locura, una belleza, usando ese estilo como pintado a mano que mezcla 3D y 2D que tan de moda se ha puesto, y aquí se ve espectacular, cada escena está ahí para apoyar la historia, para darle fuerza al tono, no es animación para presumir nomás, es hermosa porque la historia necesita que sea así.. el mundo se siente frondoso, vivo y, por momentos, de verdad peligroso.

And this gets me thinking about something bigger, you know? Watching this movie made me reflect on the state of animation right now. I mean, this thing looks incredible, and they made it with about 78 million dollars. Meanwhile, you have Disney spending 200 or 300 million on movies that feel soulless, uncreative, and visually flat. The contrast is brutal. The Wild Robot is proof, people, that you don't need a fortune to make a beautiful movie that touches your heart. What you need is a clear vision, a kick-ass story, and the freedom to tell it without ten executives breathing down your neck to check off a list of requirements to ensure a billion at the box office. Studios like DreamWorks and Sony are killing it because they're proving that if you focus on quality and story, success will follow. And I'm thrilled about that.

Now, is the movie perfect? Mmm, not entirely. I found a couple of little things. There are moments when the pacing feels a bit off: some scenes are a mile a minute and others drag on a bit too long. The final conflict, while very well done, feels like they threw too much in at once. There's a villain who is actually quite good, but she's introduced so, so late that she doesn't have the impact she could have had. I have to admit that the adult gosling isn't as interesting as he was when he was little, nor does he grab you as much as Roz or the fox character. But look, these are just little details, minor things in a film that is otherwise a gem.

It trusts its audience, trusts that you'll connect with the characters and their journey. Seriously, folks, this movie is so full of life, of details… I loved it. Despite its small flaws, the heart, beauty, and intelligence it possesses are just insane. It's a film that earns every single one of its emotions. So, for me, The Wild Robot is a solid 9/10. Those minor pacing and climax issues just keep it from being perfect, but only by a tiny margin. Please, if you have even the slightest interest in animation, good stories, or if you just want to feel something, watch it! We need to support original films like this to show the studios that we want more heart and more creativity, not just endless sequels and remakes. And well, that's it for today's review! Y esto me pone a pensar en algo más grande, ¿saben? Ver esta película me hizo reflexionar sobre cómo está la animación ahorita.. a ver, esta cosa se ve increíble, y la hicieron con unos 78 millones de dólares, mientras tanto, tienes a Disney gastándose 200 o 300 millones en películas que se sienten sin alma, sin creatividad, visualmente planas.. el contraste es brutal.. The Wild Robot es la prueba, gente, de que no necesitas un dineral para hacer una película hermosa y que te llegue al corazón, lo que necesitas es una visión clara, una historia chingona y la libertad para contarla sin que diez ejecutivos te estén jodiendo con que cumplas una lista de requisitos para asegurar los mil millones en taquilla.. estudios como DreamWorks y Sony la están rompiendo porque están demostrando que si te enfocas en la calidad y en la historia, el éxito llega solito.. yo, feliz de la vida con eso.

Ahora, ¿la película es perfecta? Mmm, no, no del todo, le encontré un par de detallitos.. hay momentos en que el ritmo se siente medio raro: algunas escenas van a mil por hora y otras como que se alargan un poquito de más. El conflicto del final, aunque está súper bien hecho, se siente como que le metieron demasiadas cosas de golpe, hay una villana que la verdad está bastante bien, pero la meten tan, pero tan tarde que no te impacta tanto como podría haberlo hecho.. tengo que admitir que el gansito ya de adulto no es tan interesante como cuando era chiquito, ni te atrapa tanto como Roz o el personaje del zorro.. pero a ver, son detallitos, son pequeñeces en una película que, por lo demás, es una joya..

Confía en su público, confía en que vas a conectar con los personajes y su viaje.. en serio, gente, esta película está tan llena de vida, de detalles… me encantó, a pesar de sus pequeños defectos, el corazón, la belleza y la inteligencia que tiene son una cosa de locos. Es una película que se gana cada una de sus emociones. Así que, para mí, Robot Salvaje es un sólido 9/10. Esos detallitos del ritmo y el clímax nomás le impiden ser perfecta, pero por muy poquito.. por favor, si les gusta un mínimo la animación, las buenas historias, o si simplemente quieren sentir algo, veanla! Necesitamos apoyar películas originales como esta, para demostrarle a los estudios que queremos más corazón y más creatividad, no solo secuelas y remakes hasta el infinito.. y bueno, hasta aquí la reseña de hoy!
