After some time, I recently got to watch Twisters and what can I say, it was quite an experience… so I’ll tell you a little bit about my opinions… if you grew up watching the classic 96 movie, you’ll know that that movie changed everything, it revolutionized how we experience storms on screen, with a sound so precise that it made every hair on your back vibrate with the roar of the wind, and special effects that, for that time, were from another planet! With this new movie, you can see that they are giving a nod to that magic, to that legacy, but also that they want to make their own path, mark their own essence… from the beginning, the movie throws you a nostalgic little detail, a nod to those from the old school: the famous Dorothy Machine appears, although they mention it just like that, that detail surely reminds them of the old days.

This confirms that, although Twisters is not a remake or a direct reboot, it does remember and respect what happened in the original film, what made it so epic... it's as if the creators were telling us: "Yes, we know where we came from, but now get ready because we're going to take you on a new journey, to blow your mind with emotion!".. one of the great successes of the film, without a doubt, are the characters, how they developed them... that's where Glenn Powell steals the movie, his charisma, his natural style and his contagious energy make his character the soul of the story, the heart of it all!

Every phrase he says, every look, shows you that the guy knows how to convey the tension of the moment, but also the human, the real, that the situation needs. Meanwhile, Daisy Edgar Jones brings Kate to life, a girl who has a personal history marked by a hard blow from the past... that emotional wound not only gives depth to the character, but also makes you connect with her immediately, you feel empathy... seeing her face her own ghosts, while fighting against the unstoppable fury of nature, was truly exciting, it touches your soul! It made me think about how strong we can be when life tests us, when it gives us terrible low blows.

Hola a todos! Amigos de Hive, espero que se encuentre genial! Después de algún tiempo, recientemente pude ver Twisters y qué les digo, fue toda una experiencia.. así que les hablaré un poco de mis opiniones.. si creciste viendo la peli clásica del 96, sabrás que esa película cambió todo, revolucionó cómo vivimos las tormentas en la pantalla, con un sonido tan preciso que te hacía vibrar hasta el último pelo con el rugido del viento, y unos efectos especiales que, para esa época, ¡eran de otro planeta! Con esta nueva peli, se nota que le hacen un guiño a esa magia, a ese legado, pero también que quieren hacer su propio camino, marcar su propia esencia.. desde el principio, la peli te tira un detallito nostálgico, un guiño para los de la vieja escuela: aparece la famosa Dorothy Machine, aunque la mencionan así nomás, ese detalle seguro les hace acordar a los viejos tiempos.

Esto confirma que, aunque Twisters no es un remake ni un reboot directo, sí se acuerda y respeta lo que pasó en la peli original, lo que la hizo tan épica.. es como si los creadores nos dijeran: “Sí, sabemos de dónde venimos, pero ahora prepárense porque los vamos a llevar a un viaje nuevo, ¡a volarles la cabeza de emoción!”.. uno de los grandes aciertos de la peli, sin duda, son los personajes, cómo los desarrollaron.. ahí es donde Glenn Powell se roba la película, su carisma, su estilo natural y su energía que te contagia hacen que su personaje sea el alma de la historia, ¡el corazón de todo!

Cada frase que dice, cada mirada, te muestra que el tipo sabe cómo transmitir la tensión del momento, pero también lo humano, lo real, que la situación necesita. Mientras tanto, Daisy Edgar Jones le da vida a Kate, una chica que tiene una historia personal marcada por un golpe duro del pasado.. esa herida emocional no solo le da profundidad al personaje, sino que también hace que uno conecte con ella inmediatamente, que sientas empatía.. verla enfrentar sus propios fantasmas, mientras pelea contra la furia imparable de la naturaleza, fue de verdad emocionante, ¡te llega al alma! me puso a pensar en lo fuertes que podemos ser cuando la vida nos pone a prueba, cuando nos da unos golpes bajos terribles.

And speaking of tests, every tornado that appears on the screen feels like another character... the story becomes almost an explosion of emotions, every time the wind blows hard, it brings something new, a different tension that makes you think that at any moment everything goes to hell, it's so much like that that, at times, I was laughing at a great comment from Powell and, the next second, I was holding my breath because a tornado was unleashed! That roller coaster of emotions is the best thing about the movie, although I have to say that sometimes they go a little overboard with the exaggeration, almost like a cartoon. Could it be that they went overboard wanting to be too spectacular? It may be, but those small flaws are quickly forgotten with the intensity and how creative the scenes are.

The special effects are on another level, impressive! The mix of modern CGI with practical effects creates images that make you feel, really, like you could run out and hug the tornado (or hide under the bed, it depends on each one, hahaha!). Each tornado seems to have its own vibe, almost as if nature itself had been transformed into a villain with bad intentions. That idea of ​​showing the tornado not just as a natural phenomenon, but as something almost evil, gives an extra touch of tension and drama to the story, elevating it a lot. Now, be careful, although visually it blows your mind, I have to say that the sound, which was so key in the 96 film, here it kind of falls behind. Before, every creak of the wind, every thunder, felt like a warning of imminent danger, creating an atmosphere of tension that is now lost a little with a sound that is louder, yes, but that loses that subtlety that marked us so much, do you understand?

Y hablando de pruebas, cada tornado que sale en la pantalla se siente como un personaje más.. la historia se convierte casi en un estallido de emociones, cada vez que el viento sopla fuerte, te trae algo nuevo, una tensión diferente que te hace pensar que en cualquier momento todo se va al carajo, es tan así la cosa que, por momentos, me estaba riendo con un comentario genial de Powell y, al segundo, ¡aguantando la respiración porque un tornado se desataba! Esa montaña rusa de emociones es de lo mejor de la peli, aunque tengo que decir que a veces se les va un poco la mano con lo exagerado, casi como de caricatura ¿Será que por ahí se pasaron de rosca queriendo ser demasiado espectaculares? puede ser, pero esas pequeñas fallas se olvidan rapidísimo con la intensidad y lo creativas que son las escenas.

Los efectos especiales son otro nivel, ¡impresionantes! La mezcla de CGI moderno con efectos prácticos crea unas imágenes que te hacen sentir, de verdad, que podrías salir corriendo a abrazar el tornado (¡o a esconderte debajo de la cama, depende de cada uno, jajaja!). Cada tornado parece tener su propia onda, casi como si la naturaleza misma se hubiera transformado en un villano con malas intenciones, esa idea de mostrar al tornado no solo como un fenómeno natural sin más, sino como algo casi malvado, le da un toque extra de tensión y drama a la historia, la eleva mucho. Ahora, ojo, aunque visualmente te vuela la cabeza, tengo que decir que el sonido, que era tan clave en la peli del 96, acá como que se queda un poco atrás, antes, cada crujido del viento, cada trueno, se sentía como una alerta de peligro inminente, creando una atmósfera de tensión que ahora se pierde un poco con un sonido que es más fuerte, sí, pero que pierde esa sutileza que tanto nos marcó, ¿me entienden?

One thing that caught my attention is that in the film they completely forgot about the issue of climate change... in the 21st century, with all the environmental stuff going on, one wonders, what's up? Why didn't they include it? It seems that the idea was not to get involved in politics, they wanted to focus only on the brute force of nature and that's it... at first, I confess that it shocked me a little, but then I realized that this decision gives the film a purer, more direct, and even liberating touch. The film focuses on showing you the anguish, the wonder, the pure adrenaline that you feel when you face something you can't control, without filling your head with ecological messages or anything like that. It's a risky move, yes, but for me it works really well: it invites you to enjoy the show without distractions, to live the storm without thinking about anything else.

Now, Twisters is not perfect, not even close. The story, although it moves quickly, sometimes feels a bit forced, like it lacks naturalness... some dialogues, well, they couldn't be more predictable, or even half-baked, lacking in jokes, some secondary characters, for example, are just there as decoration, without the vibe, without the spark that the protagonists have... and it shows, especially if you remember how well written the script of the original was. But well, those little stumbles are quickly forgotten because the pace of the movie is crazy and the action scenes are so spectacular that you stay glued to the screen without noticing those little flaws... one of the things that struck me the most was how, despite the script having its little things, the story gives you that feeling that we are nothing, how small we are before the force of nature, crazy stuff! Every scene, every tornado that appears, reminds you how small you are in the face of something so immense and chaotic, it makes you feel vulnerable... that feeling, combined with the adrenaline it injects into you, makes you live the experience to the fullest. Although some criticize that certain characters seem more like clowns than real, I felt that, in key moments, the story becomes truly exciting and human.

Una cosa que me llamó la atención, es que en la peli como que se olvidaron por completo del tema del cambio climático.. en pleno siglo XXI, con todo el rollo del ambiente a flor de piel, uno se pregunta, ¿qué onda? ¿Por qué no lo metieron? parece que la idea fue no meterse en política, quisieron enfocarse solo en la fuerza bruta de la naturaleza y ya está.. al principio, confieso que me chocó un poco, pero después caí en cuenta de que esa decisión le da a la peli un toque más puro, más directo, y hasta liberador. La película se centra en mostrarte la angustia, el asombro, la adrenalina pura que sentís cuando te enfrentas a algo que no puedes controlar, sin llenarte la cabeza con mensajes ecologistas ni nada de eso, es una jugada arriesgada, sí, pero para mí funciona súper bien: te invita a disfrutar del espectáculo sin distracciones, a vivir la tormenta sin pensar en otra cosa.

Ahora, Twisters no es perfecta, ni cerca, la historia, aunque se mueve rápido, por momentos se siente un poco forzada, como que le falta naturalidad.. algunos diálogos, bueno, más predecibles imposible, o hasta medio planos, sin chiste, algunos personajes secundarios, por ejemplo, quedan ahí como de adorno, sin la onda, sin la chispa que tienen los protagonistas.. y eso se nota, sobre todo si te acordás de lo bien escrito que estaba el guion de la original. Pero bueno, esos pequeños tropezones se olvidan rápido porque el ritmo de la película es una locura y las escenas de acción son tan espectaculares que te quedas pegado a la pantalla sin darte cuenta de esas fallitas.. una de las cosas que más me impactó fue cómo, a pesar de que el guion tiene sus cositas, la historia te transmite esa sensación de que somos nada, de lo pequeños que somos ante la fuerza de la naturaleza, ¡una cosa de locos! cada escena, cada tornado que aparece, te recuerda lo chiquito que eres frente a algo tan inmenso y caótico, te hace sentir vulnerable.. esa sensación, combinada con la adrenalina que te inyecta, te hace vivir la experiencia a flor de piel, aunque algunos critican que ciertos personajes parecen más payasos que reales, yo sentí que, en los momentos clave, la historia se pone de verdad emocionante y humana.

My experience was like riding a roller coaster. At first, I confess, I was a bit hesitant, because modernizing a classic makes it easy for them to fall into clichés or to try to do too much and screw it up. But as the movie progressed, I let myself get carried away by the thousand-mile-per-hour pace and by how well Powell and Jones act. There were times when I laughed alone, out of nowhere, at a comment I wasn't expecting, or when I held my breath watching the tornado threaten to destroy everything. Obviously, nostalgia hit me hard every time a little detail came up that reminded me of the previous movie. I would recommend that you watch it on the biggest screen you have, and with the most surround sound.. without a doubt, Twisters is one of those movies that, although it has its ups and downs, gives you first-class entertainment.

It's not the masterpiece that some expected, nor will it replace the special place that the 1996 film has, that's clear... but it is something fresh, something new, that gets going and that entertains and excites you in equal parts. It's a film to let yourself go, to immerse yourself fully in a world where nature is an incredible spectacle and a terrible threat at the same time, and where each character, although sometimes they are not perfect, plays a key role in this total chaos. I give Twisters a 7.5/10, that score is because I loved so many things: the visuals, which are crazy, how great Glenn Powell is in his role, and how they get you back into that wave of tension and adrenaline… but I also have to admit that the script has its flaws and that it lacked that touch in the sound… so you know, if you like big action movies, if you get excited seeing the force of nature on screen, and you love the idea of ​​reliving a bit of the magic of a classic disaster movie, get your popcorn ready, sit comfortably in your seat and let yourself be carried away by this whirlwind of emotions, where the old and the new come together to give you an awesome show… and well, that’s all for today! Mi experiencia fue como subirse a una montaña rusa, al principio, lo confieso, iba medio con dudas, porque modernizar un clásico hace que sea fácil que caigan en clichés o que quieran hacer demasiado y la embarren, pero a medida que la peli avanzaba, me fui dejando llevar por el ritmo a mil por hora y por lo bien que actúan Powell y Jones. Hubo momentos en que me reí solo, así de la nada, por un comentario que no me esperaba, o que aguanté la respiración viendo cómo el tornado amenazaba con destruir todo, obvio, la nostalgia me pegó fuerte cada vez que salía algún detallito que me hacía acordar a la peli de anted. Yo recomendaría que la vean en la pantalla más grande que tengan, y con el sonido más envolvente.. sin dudarlo, Twisters es de esas pelis que, aunque tiene sus altibajos, te da un entretenimiento de primera. No es la obra maestra que algunos esperaban, ni va a reemplazar el lugar especial que tiene la del 96, eso está claro.. pero sí es algo fresco, algo nuevo, que se anima y que te divierte y te emociona a partes iguales.

Es una peli para dejarte llevar, para meterte de lleno en un mundo donde la naturaleza es un espectáculo increíble y una amenaza terrible al mismo tiempo, y donde cada personaje, aunque a veces no sean perfectos, juega un papel clave en este descontrol total. Le doy a Twisters un 7.5/10, esa nota es porque me encantaron muchas cosas: lo visual, que es una locura, lo genial que es Glenn Powell en su papel, y cómo te meten de nuevo en esa onda de tensión y adrenalina.. pero también tengo que reconocer que el guion tiene sus fallas y que le faltó ese toque en el sonido.. así que ya saben, si les gustan las pelis de acción a lo grande, si les emociona ver la fuerza de la naturaleza en pantalla y les encanta la idea de revivir un poco la magia de un clásico de pelis de desastres, preparen las cotufas, acomódense bien en la butaca y déjense llevar por este torbellino de emociones, donde lo viejo y lo nuevo se juntan para darte un espectáculo genial.. y bueno, eso es todo por hoy!
