Desde hace meses no he estado muy pendiente de algunos filmes de terror que tengo pendiente por ver, es el tipo de película que debo ver tarde en la noche cuando ya todos están dormidos y en ocasiones con poco sonido, así que supone un mayor reto o mejor dicho un tiempo extra en comparación a otros géneros, entre esas películas que he deseado ver desde hace un tiempo está Barbarian, un filme del cual he visto varias reseñas en esta comunidad e inmediatamente captó mi atención, así que es momento de opinar sobre este filme del cual mucho se ha hablado.
Este filme se introduce dentro del género de terror, donde lo que ocurre es explicado de una manera racional (o al menos eso intenta), no es un fantasma o creatura paranormal, aunque ciertamente otorga algunas dudas que más adelante en el post comentaré.
Sinopsis:
Luego de rentar una casa, una joven que llega a la ciudad por una entrevista de trabajo, poco a poco va descubriendo que esa misteriosa vivienda esconde un oscuro secreto, el cual pondrá en peligro su vida y de cualquiera que se acerque a esa propiedad.
Análisis del Filme
Esta película posee un enfoque interesante y que también podríamos catalogar de sorpresivo, nos atrae con un misterio inicial del cual ciertamente realizamos nuestras conjeturas e hipótesis basadas en los guiones de otros filmes, es inevitable pensar en algunos clichés o historias repetidas sobre todo en las tramas de terror, todo para luego otorgar un poco de sorpresa y demostrar de que el filme ofrece un poco más allá de los guiones que todos sabemos, al menos, ese es el pensamiento que me otorga luego de la primera mitad del metraje.
Otra de esas características que me agradaron es que el filme se dividen en 4 segmentos, de los cuales en la última parte se entrelazan para otorgar una pequeña dosis de acción en sus minutos finales, este enfoque en el cual se perciben dos segmentos principales observamos protagonistas totalmente distintos, de hecho, comenzamos con una especie de misterio con algo de suspenso (el cual me parece estupendo) y posteriormente podemos incluso notar algo de comedia negra en algunos minutos. Lo que parece dos historias distintas, pero que sabemos que ocurre en el mismo lugar y espacio de tiempo, eso me agradó mucho del filme.
Fotografía y Efectos Especiales
Como un buen filme de terror sabe jugar con la oscuridad, luces y el repentino susto acompañado de efectos de sonidos que nos hacen brincar de la silla, podríamos decir que nos otorga un buen antagonista o bien lo podemos llamar monstruo que definitivamente es funcional en la trama, acompañado con efectos visuales hace que el espectador se envuelva en una muy interesante historia de terror.
Lógica en el Filme
Aunque me ha gustado la estructura, el "monstruo", actuaciones e incluso el suspenso que se percibe desde el primer minuto de película, no puedo dejar de pensar en que se escurre entre las manos de los guionistas un poco de lógica en cuanto a la construcción del contexto en que ocurren todos los hechos en esa misteriosa casa.
Uno de los aspectos en que esa lógica a mi parecer falla es el mismo antagonista, me parece que su construcción o nacimiento no es lógico, demasiado exagerado para la explicación tan simple a la que recurre el guion para darnos a entender el origen de esa creatura terrorífica, además, me parece que esta creatura posee una resistencia más allá de la lógica, resiste muchos golpes, velocidad descomunal entre otros rasgos que al compararla a la línea lógica o argumento sobre su origen, parecerá que no es tan factible, al menos a mi parecer, por lo cual , al saber la verdad responderemos con un dubitativo ¿es en serio?
Humanidad
Luego de ver el filme entenderemos la razón del título, ¿Cuál es el verdadero monstruo?, eso evidentemente lo contestará el filme sobre el final, esa característica en donde incluso se muestra un humano que solo desea salvarse a sí mismo me agrada, un ejemplo de lo que puede ser la sociedad en un momento crítico de alto estrés.
Actuaciones
Me agradaron las actuaciones, sobre todo, en ese primer segmento en donde se respiraba el misterio en cada minuto, un tramo muy bueno del filme sostenido por actuaciones que incluso le otorgaban una buena dosis de intriga en la primera parte del metraje, aun cuando estaba por fuera de la línea central del argumento, otro aspecto que me gustó bastante, pero que sin dudas no hubiese sido tan impactante sin la actuación de Bill Skarsgård y de Georgina Campbell, aunque la actuación y personaje de Justin Long en el segundo segmento también favoreció a la trama.

Opinión Final
Si bien a mi parecer la falta de lógica juega un papel negativo en el filme, termina siendo de lo mejor que he visto de este género en el año, la estructura me agrada, todo es muy bien encaminado con mucho misterio e intriga, sin embargo, sobre el final comienza a caerse algunos de sus argumentos saliéndose de esa lógica anteriormente descrita.
A pesar de ese punto negativo, siento que este filme es bastante terrorífico y misterioso, por momentos intentamos hacer una hipótesis basada en nuestra experiencia en el género, pero el filme nos termina sorprendiendo en varios aspectos.
Posee una mezcla más que interesante en donde existen algunas pinceladas de comedia (humor negro) que sirven como buen complemento a la historia. Esta mezcla, en combinación de la narrativa, es algo que me parece muy bueno del filme, añadiendo que hay algunos movimientos y efecto de cámaras bastante interesantes, un trabajo bastante completo, pero que le faltó un poco de lógica sobre el final.
¿La recomiendo?
A mi parecer, la combinación de un buen guion e interesantes efectos visuales que bien ya conocemos en este tipo de películas, que nos proponen una buena experiencia terrorífica y que seguramente mantendrá atento a cualquier espectador hasta el final, así como lo mencioné anteriormente, no he visto una gran cantidad de películas de terror, sin embargo, puedo decir que este filme es de lo mejor que he visto en el 2022 de dicho género, por lo cual, es totalmente recomendable para cualquier persona que le agraden los misterios y una interesante trama terrorífica. La recomiendo abiertamente.

This film is introduced within the horror genre, where what happens is explained in a rational way (or at least it tries), it is not a ghost or paranormal creature, although it certainly grants some doubts that later in the post I will comment.
Synopsis:
After renting a house, a young woman who arrives in the city for a job interview, gradually discovers that this mysterious home hides a dark secret, which will endanger her life and anyone who comes near that property.
Film Analysis
This film has an interesting approach and could also be classified as surprising, it attracts us with an initial mystery of which we certainly make our guesses and hypotheses based on the scripts of other films, it is inevitable to think of some clichés or repeated stories especially in horror plots, all to then give a little surprise and show that the film offers a little beyond the scripts that we all know, at least, that is the thought that gives me after the first half of the footage.
Another of those characteristics that pleased me is that the film is divided into 4 segments, of which in the last part are intertwined to give a small dose of action in its final minutes, this approach in which two main segments are perceived we observe totally different protagonists, in fact, we start with a kind of mystery with some suspense (which I think is great) and later we can even notice some black comedy in a few minutes. What seems like two different stories, but we know that they take place in the same place and time, I really liked this film.
Photography and Special Effects
As a good horror film knows how to play with darkness, lights and the sudden scare accompanied by sound effects that make us jump out of the chair, we could say that gives us a good antagonist or we can call it a monster that is definitely functional in the plot, accompanied with visual effects makes the viewer is involved in a very interesting horror story.
Logic in the Film
Although I liked the structure, the "monster", the performances and even the suspense that is perceived from the first minute of the film, I can't help but think that a little bit of logic slips through the scriptwriters' hands in terms of the construction of the context in which all the events occur in that mysterious house.
One of the aspects in which this logic fails in my opinion is the antagonist himself, it seems to me that his construction or birth is not logical, too exaggerated for the simple explanation to which the script resorts to give us to understand the origin of this terrifying creature, moreover, it seems to me that this creature possesses a very strong and powerful personality, it seems to me that this creature has a resistance beyond logic, resists many blows, enormous speed among other features that when compared to the logical line or argument about its origin, it will seem that it is not so feasible, at least in my opinion, so when we know the truth we will respond with a doubtful, is it really?
Humanity
After watching the film we will understand the reason for the title, what is the real monster, that evidently will be answered by the film at the end, that feature where it even shows a human who only wants to save himself I like it, an example of what society can be in a critical moment of high stress.
Performances
I liked the performances, especially in that first segment where the mystery was breathed in every minute, a very good stretch of the film sustained by performances that even gave a good dose of intrigue in the first part of the footage, even when it was outside the central line of the plot, another aspect that I liked a lot, but that certainly would not have been so impactful without the performance of Bill Skarsgård and Georgina Campbell, although the performance and character of Justin Long in the second segment also favored the plot.

Final Opinion.
Although in my opinion the lack of logic plays a negative role in the film, it ends up being one of the best I've seen of this genre this year, the structure pleases me, everything is very well directed with a lot of mystery and intrigue, however, at the end some of its arguments begin to fall out of the logic described above.
Despite this negative point, I feel that this film is quite terrifying and mysterious, at times we try to make a hypothesis based on our experience in the genre, but the film ends up surprising us in several aspects.
It has a more than interesting mix where there are some touches of comedy (black humor) that serve as a good complement to the story. This mix, in combination with the narrative, is something that I find very good about the film, adding that there are some interesting camera movements and effects, a very complete work, but that lacked a bit of logic at the end.
Do I recommend it?
In my opinion, the combination of a good script and interesting visual effects that we already know well in this type of films, which propose us a good terrifying experience and that will surely keep any viewer attentive until the end, as well as I mentioned before, I have not seen a lot of horror films, however, I can say that this film is one of the best I have seen in 2022 of that genre, therefore, it is totally recommended for anyone who likes mysteries and an interesting terrifying plot. I highly recommend it.

Hace unos días creo que, dedicatedguy habló de ella, le comenté que solamente llegué a la parte del DNI, la música de fondo del inicio me lo dijo todo, y como ver terror me resulta duro jajajaja, quiero verla y saber qué sucede en el sótano. Veo que matizas uno que otro desface con el guion, pero resulta atrayente igual. Quiero saber qué hay detrás de todo. Puede que el instinto de supervivencia aplique para esta película, quiero saber, tengo curiosidad, vamos a verla, pero de día jajajajaja. 😁

Justo la acabo de ver ayer y como dices es buena, pero tiene bastantes detalles que no tienen ningún tipo de explicación o lógica y eso me terminó desagradando mucho. El giro del "monstruo" creo que fue lo mejor de la película, aunque debo aceptar que cuando dicen que "hay algo peor si abajo" me imaginé otra cosa y me decepcionó un poco el resultado 😅
Pero bueno, son detalles que tampoco le restan el mérito de traernos algo diferente.

Gracias, estoy de acuerdo, la lógica escapa de este filme en algunas explicaciones, sin embargo, la trama me parece que tiene buena narrativa y se siente el suspenso además del terror otorgado por la creatura. En líneas generales, a pesar de esa falla en la lógica me parece un filme a tener en cuenta.

Hay o hubo mucho hate con esta película y está bien porque al final son opiniones, pero que honestamente no entiendo de donde viene. Este film me gustó muchísimo, es como dices de lo mejor del año porque la historia es atractiva, ese plot twist del origen de todo es bastante bueno y que al final la tensión del terror siempre está cosa que se agradece. Yo la disfruté mucho sinceramente!
