Últimamente, he estado revisando varios films disponibles en Netflix de ciencia ficción, un género que me agrada y en el que siempre estoy buscando nuevas historias y contextos sobre un futuro que normalmente en este tipo de films es distópico o postapocalíptico, la raza humana está a punto de desaparecer o en algunos casos, ya no existe. En esta oportunidad quiero compartir con ustedes un filme que nos traslada en una era donde nuestra especie ya no es concebida de manera natural, es una película que capturó mi atención, luego de leer una reseña en esta comunidad, quiero comentarles sobre I Am Mother.
Este es un filme del 2019, podemos introducirlo en el género de Thriller dentro de un contexto postapocalíptico donde también tenemos como protagonista no solo a una persona, sino también a un robot, es una producción australiana, pero que a mi parecer no tiene nada que envidiarles a las producciones norteamericanas.
Sinopsis:
Luego de un evento apocalíptico se piensa que la raza humana ha dejado de existir, un robot con la programación de salvar a la especie humana, realiza una labor de madre en la crianza de una joven hasta que tienen contacto con otro ser humano.
Análisis de la Película
Desde mi punto de vista, la historia es cautivadora desde el póster y la sinopsis, un futuro donde dependemos de una inteligencia artificial para poder traer humanos al mundo, con ese contexto definitivamente captó mi atención, un futuro donde no se nace de manera natural, sino que somos horneados en una incubadora que suplanta en tan solo 24 horas lo que una madre tarde 9 meses.
Ya con este simple abreboca la película logra enganchar desde el principio al espectador, me parece que es una temática fresca en la que nos sumerge este film, no muy exagerada, alocada o distorsionada, una propuesta sobria con buen potencial dentro del género de ciencia ficción, específicamente en un mundo postapocalíptico.
Maternidad
La primera pregunta que nos hace pensar este film, es si un robot puede suplir a una madre, no solo en cuanto a enseñanza, también en amor y cuidado, el aspecto del robot madre es amigable, un modelo humanoide que incluso puede hacer gestos sutiles con unas pequeñas luces en lo que podría decirse es su cara. Este aspecto, en complemento a una voz suave y femenina, logra engancharnos y tener empatía por esta madre metálica. Todo es diseñado para captar la atención y lo más importante crear confianza con el humano que está completamente a su cuidado.
Confianza (Tema Central del Film)
Sin dudas este es el tema central, la película nos lleva a situaciones donde nos coloca sobre la mesa el tema de la confianza, nuestro instinto de supervivencia. No es Spoiler decir que la joven que es criada por el robot tiene un encuentro con otra mujer, otro ser humano, pero que en algunas ocasiones contradice algunas enseñanzas de su madre robot, por lo cual enfrentamos a un dilema sobre la confianza.
Confiar en una inteligencia artificial o en otro ser humano, si bien para muchos la respuesta puede ser obvia, hay situaciones en donde nos hace dudar hacia ambas partes, este es el aspecto más significativo de la película, pensar ¿Qué puede hacer la protagonista? ¿En quién debería confiar?, ¿en alguien que acaba de conocer, pero es de su misma especie? ¿O un robot que ha cuidado de ella desde su primer respiro?
Todo este dilema central hace que la película sea atractiva, todas las preguntas que nos surgen son respondidas sobre el final, solo debemos estar atentos a algunos detalles que surgen a lo largo del film.
Es de esas películas que poseen un buen giro, no tan brusco, pero que realmente hace que cambie la perspectiva del espectador y que nos haga unir piezas en un rompecabezas de casi dos horas de duración, si bien es una película de fácil comprensión, hay que recoger las pistas y unirlas sobre el final.
Ritmo
La película desarrolla un ritmo adecuado para el tema, mantiene una introducción correcta con un ritmo pausado que de a poco va subiendo de nivel hasta convertirse en un thriller, sin embargo, la trama está muy bien estructurada y podemos sentir curiosidad, intriga, enojo, incluso momentos de desesperación, un coctel de emociones que la verdad no esperaba de una película que tiene una sinopsis relativamente sencilla.
Efectos Especiales y Fotografía
El trabajo técnico en este filme es de excelente calidad, podría competir tranquilamente con algunas películas de Hollywood, la mecánica y movimientos del robot son fenomenales, así como también otras escenas que observaremos en la película, en cuanto a efectos especiales es un filme que no nos decepcionará, siendo la ciencia ficción, un género en el cual este tipo de trabajo técnico tiene un peso importante dentro del filme.
El trabajo de fotografía también es bueno, recurriendo en algunas escenas a técnicas muy utilizadas en el cine, pero que no decepcionan y que hacen que la trama siga por un buen camino.
Actuación
En este caso, solo hay dos personajes (humanos) al cual mencionar, ambas personas tanto Clara Rugaard e Hilary Swank hacen un trabajo decente, no decepciona, pero tampoco son actuaciones dignas de un Oscar desde mi óptica, sin embargo, logran ser esos personajes que no decepcionan, aunque uno de los puntos fuertes sin dudas es la voz de “madre” interpretada por Rose Byrne.

Opinión Final
Este film es original de Netflix, es de esas apuestas que no son de las superproducciones, pero que logra el objetivo, esta compañía puede crear buenas historias, sobre todo cuando crean un film para un segmento específico de público, normalmente las que son para todo público en lo particular me terminan decepcionando. Esta película es entretenida y logra transmitir correctamente las emociones al espectador, llevando un mensaje más que interesante sobre el final, seguramente luego de terminar de ver la película nos tomará algunos minutos digerir y comprender todo lo que ha ocurrido en el film, una sensación que me agrada luego de ver una película interesante.
¿La Recomiendo?
Es un film a tener en cuenta para los que les agrada la ciencia ficción, en combinación de pinceladas de acción, pero con un buen toque de suspenso e intriga, sin dudas no es una pérdida de tiempo. La recomiendo abiertamente.

This is a film of 2019, we can introduce it in the genre of Thriller within a post-apocalyptic context where we also have as protagonist not only a person, but also a robot, it is an Australian production, but that in my opinion has nothing to envy to American productions.
Synopsis:
After an apocalyptic event it is thought that the human race has ceased to exist, a robot with the programming to save the human species, performs a motherly task in raising a young girl until they have contact with another human being.
Film Analysis
From my point of view, the story is captivating from the poster and the synopsis, a future where we depend on an artificial intelligence to bring humans into the world, with that context definitely captured my attention, a future where we are not born naturally, but we are baked in an incubator that takes only 24 hours what a mother takes 9 months.
Already with this simple opening the film manages to hook the viewer from the beginning, it seems to me that it is a fresh theme in which this film immerses us, not too exaggerated, crazy or distorted, a sober proposal with good potential within the genre of science fiction, specifically in a post-apocalyptic world.
Motherhood
The first question that makes us think about this film is whether a robot can replace a mother, not only in terms of teaching, but also in love and care, the appearance of the mother robot is friendly, a humanoid model that can even make subtle gestures with small lights on what could be said to be its face. This appearance, complemented by a soft, feminine voice, engages and empathises with this metallic mother. Everything is designed to capture the attention and most importantly build trust with the human who is completely in her care.
Trust (Central Theme of the Film)
Undoubtedly this is the central theme, the film takes us into situations where it brings to the table the issue of trust, our survival instinct. It is not a spoiler to say that the young girl who is raised by the robot has an encounter with another woman, another human being, but that on some occasions she contradicts some of her robot mother's teachings, so we face a dilemma about trust.
Trusting an artificial intelligence or another human being, although for many the answer may be obvious, there are situations where it makes us doubt on both sides, this is the most significant aspect of the film, thinking what can the protagonist do, who should she trust, someone she has just met, but is of the same species, or a robot that has taken care of her since her first breath?
All this central dilemma makes the film engaging, all the questions that arise are answered by the end, we just have to pay attention to some details that emerge throughout the film.
It is one of those films that has a good twist, not so abrupt, but that really changes the viewer's perspective and makes us put together pieces in a puzzle of almost two hours long, although it is a film easy to understand, you have to pick up the clues and put them together at the end.
Pace
The film develops an adequate pace for the subject, it maintains a correct introduction with a slow pace that gradually rises to become a thriller, however, the plot is very well structured and we can feel curiosity, intrigue, anger, even moments of despair, a cocktail of emotions that I really did not expect from a film that has a relatively simple synopsis.
Special Effects and Cinematography
The technical work in this film is of excellent quality, it could easily compete with some Hollywood films, the mechanics and movements of the robot are phenomenal, as well as other scenes that we will observe in the film, in terms of special effects is a film that will not disappoint us, being science fiction, a genre in which this type of technical work has an important weight within the film.
The photography work is also good, resorting in some scenes to techniques very used in the cinema, but that do not disappoint and that make the plot follow a good path.
Acting
In this case, there are only two (human) characters to mention, both Clara Rugaard and Hilary Swank do a decent job, not disappointing, but neither are Oscar worthy performances in my view, however, they manage to be those characters that do not disappoint, although one of the strongest points is undoubtedly the voice of "mother" played by Rose Byrne.

This film is a Netflix original, it is one of those bets that are not of the blockbusters, but that achieves the goal, this company can create good stories, especially when they create a film for a specific audience segment, usually those that are for all audiences in particular end up disappointing me. This film is entertaining and manages to correctly convey the emotions to the viewer, carrying a more than interesting message about the end, surely after finishing watching the film will take a few minutes to digest and understand everything that has happened in the film, a feeling that pleases me after watching an interesting film.
Do I recommend it?
It is a film to keep in mind for those who like science fiction, in combination with touches of action, but with a good touch of suspense and intrigue, it is certainly not a waste of time. I highly recommend it.

Yo que no soy de ver muchas películas, si se me cruzará esta en el camino seguramente la vería por todo lo que medianamente cuentas de ella.
Seria algo extraño el debatirse por la atención de dos seres uno natural y uno artificial.
Quiero pensar que el robot es bueno con la niña, sino sería muy raro que la tuviera a su cargo. Aunque la humana tendría mucho que aportarle en su desarrollo.

Este film estuvo bastante bueno, lo ví en su momento cuando salió y la trama me pareció bastante interesante por toda la ciencia ficción y por los secretos que uno va descubriendo de esa supuesta "madre".

Yo la vi, creo que hice review, no lo recuerdo. a mi me agrado el film, donde involucre androides, inteligencia artificial, es un tema que me gusta y si la historia esta bien contada, como este caso, mejor.
Ya veo que te gustan los androides jajaja, a mi también, sobre todo ese tema de la inteligencia artificial, sobre todo cuando lleva a una situación donde hace cosas impensadas para nosotros pero que por razonamiento o estadísticas están fundadas, comparar el comportamiento del humano con la IA, un tema excelente, en esta película toca algo de eso.

Tuve la oportunidad de verla hace algún tiempo. El secreto que envolvió la trama me mantuvo en velo; madre deseaba proteger a su hija de su misma especie, y para ello tuvo que mentirle. Esa lucha entre ambas fue trascendental para luego revelar ese giro que no me esperaba. El hecho de que Madre haya sido, al parecer, culpable de la destrucción de la humanidad... Al final no supe si la forastera fue asesinada por madre, aunque dan a entender que si.
