Debo decir que GOT es de las series que sumergieron a gran parte del mundo en su historia, es inolvidable como tantas personas esperaban sus capítulos cada semana, es de mis series favoritas y de las que recuerdo con mucho cariño, ya que me emocionaba con cada episodio, el cual siempre terminaba por sorprenderme, al menos en su mayoría. Que hoy podamos disfrutar de una serie, en donde nos introducimos en ese universo ciento de años antes de esta historia original de GOT es algo que esperaba desde hace mucho tiempo. Aunque para este post decidí hacer algo distinto a la típica reseña, quiero enfocarme principalmente en un solo personaje que sin dudas muchos de esta comunidad reconocerán a simple vista, escribiré sobre Viserys, aunque evitaré escribir muchos spoilers, deseo mencionar algunas características y escenas de este personaje.
Desde GOT nos hemos enfocado en un molde para los que se sientan en el trono de hierro, escuchamos en su momento las despiadadas hazañas de un "rey loco", además, reyes que lograron obtener el odio de muchos espectadores como Joffrey Baratheon, así que nuestra percepción de aquel que se sienta en el lugar donde muchos desean estar, debe ser una persona sencillamente despiadada, cruel y hasta inhumana, sin embargo, todo cambia al observar desde los primeros capítulos el desenvolvimiento del personaje del rey Viserys.
Ciertamente, House of the Dragon no ha comenzado ritmo vertiginoso con el que recordamos los primeros capítulos de GOT, sea para alargar la serie o simplemente para mostrar una introducción con un mejor contexto, lo cierto es que nos llevamos la sorpresa de que la serie busca un enfoque diferente para atrapar en sus garras a los espectadores, entre esos aspectos interesantes está Vicerys, en el que en un principio dudamos de su capacidad de este rey que le gusta la paz, ama a su familia y desea que todos a su alrededor se la lleven como buenos hermanos.
Confieso que las primeras impresiones sobre Viserys era sobre un personaje que no estaba adecuado a la trama que esperaba, realmente sentía que era un personaje tosco o torpe que de cierta manera era un obstáculo para el verdadero "juego de tronos" que ansiaba ver desde hace algún tiempo, sin embargo, su desenvolvimiento se mantuvo y su evolución hace que sea para muchos uno de los mejores personajes de esta serie (al momento de esta redacción). En mi caso, le tenía poca fe a este personaje, sin embargo, en sus últimos episodios podemos decir que es un personaje digno de recordar en esta serie ¿Estás de acuerdo?.
¿Qué hace tan Diferente a Vicerys?
Una de las características más interesantes de este rey se van construyendo sobre la marcha en cada capítulo, observamos varios rasgos psicológicos que son adoptados por el personaje, la necesidad de un heredero varón que posteriormente se vuelve en una culpa aplastante, culpa que le hace tomar decisiones muy cuestionadas por todo el reino. Esto, de hecho, le abre el camino a la posibilidad de que su hija Rhaenyra pueda ser la primera reina en sentarse en el trono, algo que los conocedores de esta historia saben si realmente ocurrirá.
Otro rasgo característico de este rey es su capacidad para perdonar, un personaje que parece más un rey al estilo de GOT es Daemon, quien en un principio veía con muy malos ojos el reinado de su propio hermano, a quien llegó a molestar en un par de ocasiones. Por momentos pensamos que le cortarán la lengua, la cabeza o mínimo lo enviarán a lejos donde no moleste, y aunque esto último llega a cumplirse, el amor que le tiene a su hermano es tan grande que decide perdonarlo una y otra vez, siempre invitándolo a una silla en su corte.
La Paz
Recuerdo una escena en donde el mismo Vicerys dice que nunca se cantará una canción con su nombre, puesto que nunca ha sido un héroe de guerra, tampoco conquistado territorio o ganado una guerra importante, la paz sepultará su nombre en los libros de historia, sin embargo, logró prevalecer la paz en una gran parte de su reinado y manteniendo la ilusión de una unión entre familias, que hasta los momentos de esta redacción ha funcionado y ha hecho algo mucho más difícil que ganar una gran batalla, mantener la paz en el reino por tanto tiempo.
Este rey no es tonto, sin embargo, sus emociones y culpa le hacen ignorar aspectos que obviamente afectarán el reino luego de su muerte, sin embargo, hace su mayor esfuerzo por mantener su propuesta de una heredera mujer para el trono de hierro hasta el final, ese esfuerzo del personaje es digno de admiración.
Un Rey Enfermo
Desde el principio de la serie notamos la extraña enfermedad del rey, pero no es hasta sus últimos capítulos que notamos un gran cambio en su imagen, un deterioro impactante, aunque paradójicamente, las mejores escenas y donde realmente se hace un lugar en la apreciación de los espectadores en justamente en estos momentos de deterioro significativo.
Personalmente, me gustó mucho la escena en donde el deteriorado y gravemente enfermo rey utiliza sus pocas fuerzas que le restan en su cuerpo cuando nadie pensaba que era capaz, pero con una voluntad sostenida desde los primeros episodios, logra llegar a sentarse en el trono ante la mirada incrédula de todos en el palacio, su objetivo, mantener sus decisiones y defender a su familia de las pretensiones de otros lores.
Esta escena es muy bien diseñada desde un punto de vista emocional, hace que el personaje suba de nivel a un punto de admiración, colocando sus valores sobre el dolor que le causa su angustiado cuerpo, protegiendo a los suyos con sus últimas fuerzas, algo que realmente hace colocar al personaje en un sitio especial en la serie.
Además, podemos recordar que seguidamente es ayudado por su hermano Daemon a cambiar y sentarse en el trono, un momento de reconciliación y sobre todo de respeto por parte de Daemon, sintiendo quizás por primera vez admiración por su enfermo hermano, una secuencia realmente interesante y que con el juego de colores y una fotografía estupenda logrará ser recordada por muchos amantes de la serie House of the Dragon.
Es tal la voluntad y la determinación de Viserys por mantener unida a su familia que logra reunirlos a todos en una última expresión de amor, aunque por momentos se sale de control, todos parecen captar el mensaje de este agonizante rey y proponen que la velada sea agradable, algo que le hace tener una paz importante y que sobresale de la pantalla.
Conclusión
Este personaje logra escalar un tramo significativo en la percepción de los espectadores, al menos ese fue mi caso, en un principio pensé que ese personaje torpe y sin malicia, el cual no era propio de esta serie, sin embargo, logra subir a un nivel impresionante, quizás es mucho decir que es el mejor personaje de la serie, sin embargo, desde mi punto de vista es el más sorpresivo, ya que desde mi óptica lo veía como un estorbo a la trama.
Desde cierto punto de vista, muchos hemos pensado que cuando muera este rey empezaría el verdadero "juego de tronos", y en ese sentido, la vida de Viserys nos otorga un contexto introductorio amplio y con mucho que analizar, aspectos y decisiones que repercutirá sin dudas en las siguientes temporadas de House of the Dragon.

I must say that GOT is one of the series that immersed a large part of the world in its history, it is unforgettable how so many people waited for its episodes every week, it is one of my favourite series and one that I remember with great affection, as I was excited with each episode, which always ended up surprising me, at least most of them. That today we can enjoy a series, where we are introduced in that universe a hundred years before this original story of GOT is something I've been looking forward to for a long time. Although for this post I decided to do something different than the typical review, I want to focus mainly on a single character that no doubt many of this community will recognize at a glance, I will write about Viserys, although I will avoid writing spoilers, I want to mention some characteristics and scenes of this character.
Since GOT we have focused on a mold for those who sit on the iron throne, we heard at the time the ruthless deeds of a "mad king", in addition, kings who managed to get the hatred of many viewers as Joffrey Baratheon, so our perception of the one who sits in the place where many want to be, must be a person simply ruthless, cruel and even inhuman, however, everything changes when watching from the first chapters the development of the character of King Viserys.
Certainly, House of the Dragon has not started the dizzying pace with which we remember the first chapters of GOT, whether to lengthen the series or simply to show an introduction with a better context, the truth is that we are surprised that the series seeks a different approach to catch the viewers in its clutches, among those interesting aspects is Vicerys, in which at first we doubted the ability of this king who likes peace, loves his family and wants everyone around him to get along like good brothers.
I confess that the first impressions about Viserys was about a character that was not suited to the plot I was expecting, I really felt that he was a clumsy or awkward character that in a way was an obstacle to the real "game of thrones" that I was longing to see for some time, however, his development was maintained and his evolution makes him for many one of the best characters of this series (at the time of this writing). In my case, I had little faith in this character, however, in his last episodes we can say that he is a character worth remembering in this series, do you agree?
What makes Vicerys so different?
One of the most interesting characteristics of this king is built as he goes along in each episode, we observe several psychological traits that are adopted by the character, the need for a male heir that later turns into a crushing guilt, guilt that makes him make decisions that are highly questioned by the whole kingdom. This, in fact, opens the way for the possibility that his daughter Rhaenyra could be the first queen to sit on the throne, something that those familiar with this story know will actually happen.
Another characteristic trait of this king is his ability to forgive, a character who seems more like a GOT-style king is Daemon, who initially took a very dim view of his own brother's reign, even upsetting him on a couple of occasions. At times we think he will have his tongue cut out, his head cut off or at the very least be sent away where he won't be a nuisance, and although the latter comes to pass, the love he has for his brother is so great that he decides to forgive him time and time again, always inviting him to a seat in his court.
Peace
I remember a scene where Vicerys himself says that a song will never be sung with his name, as he has never been a war hero, nor conquered territory or won a major war, peace will bury his name in the history books, yet he managed to prevail peace for a large part of his reign and maintain the illusion of a union between families, which until the time of this writing has worked and done something far more difficult than winning a great battle, maintaining peace in the kingdom for so long.
This king is no fool, however, his emotions and guilt make him ignore aspects that will obviously affect the kingdom after his death, however, he does his best to keep his proposal of a female heir to the iron throne to the end, that effort of the character is worthy of admiration.
A Sick King
From the beginning of the series we notice the king's strange illness, but it is not until the last chapters that we notice a great change in his image, a shocking deterioration, although paradoxically, the best scenes and where he really makes a place in the appreciation of the viewers are precisely in these moments of significant deterioration.
Personally, I really liked the scene where the deteriorated and seriously ill king uses his few remaining forces in his body when nobody thought he was capable, but with a sustained will from the first episodes, he manages to sit on the throne before the incredulous gaze of everyone in the palace, his goal, to maintain his decisions and defend his family from the pretensions of other lords.
This scene is very well crafted from an emotional point of view, it makes the character rise to a point of admiration, placing her values above the pain caused by her anguished body, protecting her own with her last strength, something that really puts the character in a special place in the series.
In addition, we can remember that he is then helped by his brother Daemon to change and sit on the throne, a moment of reconciliation and above all of respect on Daemon's part, feeling perhaps for the first time admiration for his sick brother, a really interesting sequence and that with the play of colours and a wonderful photography will be remembered by many lovers of the House of the Dragon series.
Such is Viserys' will and determination to keep his family together that he manages to bring them all together in a final expression of love, although at times it gets out of control, everyone seems to get the message of this dying king and makes for an enjoyable evening, something that gives him an important peace that stands out from the screen.
Conclusion
This character manages to climb a significant stretch in the perception of viewers, at least that was my case, at first I thought that this character clumsy and without malice, which was not typical of this series, however, manages to climb to an impressive level, perhaps it is too much to say that is the best character in the series, however, from my point of view is the most surprising, since from my point of view I saw him as a hindrance to the plot.
From a certain point of view, many of us have thought that when this king dies, the real "game of thrones" will begin, and in that sense, Viserys' life gives us a broad introductory context with a lot to analyse, aspects and decisions that will undoubtedly have repercussions in the following seasons of House of the Dragon.

Her death is the definitive beginning of the Dance of the Dragons, the Targaryen civil war that we will see unfold in the next season. The greens have the advantage, they will proclaim their new king and the blacks will do the same with their queen. War, betrayals, deaths, the next season will be exciting.
Paddy Considine is a British actor that I like, he always stands out in his interpretations, even if they are secondary characters. He is also a screenwriter and director, I recommend you to see other works of his filmography, either as an actor or as a director.
That last episode was touching, as I mentioned in the post, I didn't have much faith in this character, but he has ended up being a great character in this series, he puts us in a very good context for that dragon dance. I think he is a very good character and the scene where he enters to sit on the throne with all his ailments seems to me one of the best scenes of the series so far, it has no death or flames but catches in emotionality.

The last minute Appearance he made in episode 7 was wonderful no one expected it. The look on Otto's face was funny. In my opinion I'll say the king divided the kingdom. He made wrong decisions a lot and defended rhenyra a lot. The king was soft, like deamon said sometimes the "king has to be feared". I think the king got infected from sitting on the iron throne, those swords had injured him for a long time.
I also think the throne had something to do with it, he had a lot of wounds from small cuts, he had a strange illness. His appearance in that scene was very good, Otto's face was really funny.

En los primeros capítulos no me gustaba como rey, lo veía falto de espíritu y no poseía esa característica que imagino debían tener los reyes de esta casa. Sin embargo, él logro resaltar otros aspectos importantes en su reinado, si bien no hizo grandes cosas, fue el primer rey que nombro a una heredera mujer, eso debe sentar un precedente. Aparte gobernó con cierta justicia, nada más que fue mal aconsejado muchas veces por las personas a su alrededor. Pienso que fue un rey justo y no se puede decir lo mismo de muchos. Tuvo sus equivocaciones, pero ese amor incondicional que demostró al final de todo por su familia lo hacen admirable. La verdad que en esas ultimas escenas que vimos de él se pudo notar el gran trabajo que hizo con su personaje el actor, digno de llevarse algún premio.
Viserys, por más que no sea recordado por conquista, por derramar sangre o por locura, fue uno de los mejores reyes de esta casa. No leí los libros, así que solo tengo la serie para compararlos, pero leí hace poco que hasta el mismo George Martin dijo que le gusto el personaje que logro construir la serie. Al final lamente su partida. Ahora sí siento que se va a venir lo inevitable, la lucha de poder entre unos y otros y la hora de la masacre. Veremos cómo abordan todo. Pero sin dudas fue un personaje bien construido.
Totalmente de acuerdo, este personaje se corona como uno de los mejores de lo que va de serie, sobre todo por esa transformación física pero que no afecta el amor por su gente.

Si, al principio no cuadra este tipo de rey, sin embargo, se ha ganado un buen puesto dentro de la valoración de los espectadores, me gustó mucho la escena donde entra a sentarse en el trono a defender a su hija, realmente es un personaje que me sorprendió ya que en un principio no le tenía mucha fe.
