Recalling my secondary school days emerged when I discovered the topic for today's prompt; my mind took me back to when we had extracurricular activities during the post examination period. Out of all the exciting activities that were initiated by my prefects, the film show happens to be the best session. Why? Here is the essence of the article.

Those who were raised in African boarding schools would agree with me that relationships with senior colleagues are often parallel; but when it's time for a film show, communal living, no one happens to be superior than the other. This built a strong bond amongst us; I can recall when we got to the hostel, we argued amongst ourselves (both junior and senior) about the movie we just finished watching.

For me, and many of my fellow students, film shows were not just about watching the latest blockbuster. They were about coming together, escaping the pressures of academic life, and building togetherness amongst ourselves. Oftentimes, seniors and juniors sat side by side, engaging in debate about the movie, and also engrossed in the narrative.

These film shows were organized everyday aside from weekends. The impact of the movie nights extended far beyond the entertainment aspect. They became a source of solace and support for those in need of it. As a senior, I often found myself consoling junior students who were emotionally engrossed in the characters; some movies related to what they are passing through, so I offer some words of encouragement and empathy as though they were my own younger siblings. In those moments, film shows evoked empathy and understanding.

My dear readers, the significance of film shows in my secondary school cannot be overstated. They were more than just a weekly ritual; they were moments to share experiences in building a sense of community and belonging. In a world often characterized by division, these moments of unity and connection served as a signal of hope and togetherness.

So, in those days, as we eagerly await the release of our examination results, I find myself enjoying every moment in the post examination activities especially secondary school movie nights. Though our paths may diverge in the years to come, the memories we created together will forever remain etched in the annals of our collective experience, an indication to the enduring power of friendship and the magic of cinema.
