The story in film

The explosion of the first atomic bomb is an event that has obsessed me since I was a child, I have read all the articles and I have seen all the films and documentaries on the subject, basically I know what the film Openheimer is about,

It is a subject that I find terrifying, but at the same time fascinating, and it all started In the 20th century with the discovery of radiation, which are highly energetic particles emitted by natural elements such as mineral uranium, at first it seemed like magic, energy emitted by a stone, it sounds like magic, a way was found to concentrate these radioactive elements and we began to process them. use on everything.

In chocolates, toothpaste, condoms, revitalizing water, glow-in-the-dark watches, and many more lousy ideas, some people made a lot of money from these products before we realized that radiation is actually bad, because it destroys the tissues and our DNA.

The tiny particles that they emit shoot the molecules of our tissues, including the genetic material that, if damaged too much, causes cancer and these little "bullets" are too small to be observed, that is, the radiation is not only very dangerous, but it is invisible. It's not like other forces of nature that you can actually run away from, like a fire where you literally have to run in the opposite direction and you're safe.

But if radiation in itself is not good for health, at the beginning of the 20th century we took it to the next level, scientists who studied radioactive elements realized that in high concentrations they could be used to build bombs of unimaginable power. and this discovery occurred at the least opportune moment, the start of the Second World War.

The physicists Leo szilard and Albert Einstein wrote a letter to the president of the United States recommending that he build the atomic bomb before Germany because it was only a matter of time, then the race to build the first atomic bomb began, the Y project was created, a huge $2.2 billion top secret company that would involve dozens of factories and labs across the country with 130,000 employees who were told not to talk, silence means safety.

All this effort was used to build the two uranium nuclei that were used for the Hiroshima bomb and three 6-kilogram plutonium nuclei, one was used for the first atomic bomb detonated in the Chihuahuan desert, the second for the Nagasaki bomb. and the third one also called the core of the one that was going to be used in a third bombing raid on Japan that did not take place because Japan surrendered, but it has its history.

In the Openheimer movie, the capsule with the core is placed inside the bomb without problems, but in reality it got stuck because the plutonium it contained was too hot from its own radiation, so the capsule was more dilated than the metal of the bomb. hole that was cold from having spent the night outdoors, that was exciting because for a moment they believed that this small piece that had cost 400 million dollars had been manufactured with the wrong measurements.

The rest is history, I recommend the Openheimer movie, you won't regret it.

(Edited)

It is interesting to know they have built products with radiation on them. Sending people to their death!

That's right, I forgot to mention that even toys for children, such as the nuclear laboratory for children, with a sample of uranium U-238, how crazy!!
