It's been a while since I posted a review here, but today I saw a movie that I really wanted to share. It's called Charly, and although I stumbled across it on YouTube and didn't know much about it before watching it, it ended up leaving me with a lot to think about and cry about.

The film tells the story of a young woman who enters the life of a man whose worldview is quite different from her own. From this encounter, situations arise that bring to the forefront themes such as beliefs, interpersonal differences, prejudice, and, above all, the way we judge others without truly understanding the reasons behind their decisions.

I want to emphasize that it's a "Mormon" film; even I thought it would be religiously intense... but no, Charly is a film that doesn't try to present its characters as perfect. Quite the opposite. They are people who make mistakes, who have prejudices, who make bad decisions, and who, at certain times, have to face the consequences of their own actions.

And I think that's precisely one of the most beautiful things about the film, we are all human.

We often form an opinion about someone based solely on their beliefs, their religion, their way of life, or something we've heard about that group of people. We might even think we know someone perfectly without ever having truly listened to their story.

But at the end of the day, behind all those differences, we are still just people. People who make mistakes, who learn, who have good and bad qualities, and who, at some point, have to acknowledge their own errors.

I really enjoyed the movie, and Charly speaks to something I consider very important: being true to what we believe in our hearts, but without using our beliefs as an excuse to hurt others. We can have different convictions, belong to different religions, or see life in completely opposite ways and still choose to act with kindness, respect, and honesty.

Because having faith or believing in something doesn't make us perfect. We are still human. And precisely for that reason, we must also learn to own up to our mistakes.

Mistakes are part of our human experience, but acknowledging them requires humility. Regret doesn't mean we've never failed; it means we're able to look at our actions, acknowledge the harm we may have caused, and decide to do things differently.

I think that's one of the key takeaways from this film. We shouldn't let labels, prejudices, or our differences prevent us from seeing the person in front of us.

In the end, we're all learning. We all make mistakes. We all have room for improvement. And perhaps the most important thing isn't never making mistakes, but having the honesty and courage to acknowledge them, regret them, and keep trying to be better.
