Today I want to talk to you about this movie I saw, and I'll tell you right away that I didn't like it and I wasn't waiting for it to end. I don't know how I resisted it for so long. Well, actually, a long time ago I said I would take the time to finish a movie so I could give my opinion, so it was necessary in this case.
Hoy les quiero hablar sobre esta película que vi y de una vez les comento que no me gustó y no esperaba el momento en que se acabara, no sé cómo resistí tanto. Bueno, realmente hace mucho tiempo atrás dije que me tomaría el tiempo de terminar una película para poder dar mi opinión, entonces era necesario en este caso.

Let's briefly talk about what this movie is about. To start, I already imagined it was based on a novel because it had that Wattpad feel, and I wanted to be proven wrong. After the movie ended, I decided to Google it to find out, and I was right...
Well, to find out what it's really about, here's a bit of the synopsis:
We have Reese Russell, a girl who leads a seemingly perfect life, but everything changes when she starts receiving anonymous threats. Her father, Bruce, decides to hire Eros Douglas, a young man with a criminal past, as her bodyguard. Despite coming from opposite worlds, a special connection develops between Reese and Eros that defies social expectations and norms.
Hablemos brevemente de que trata esta película. Para empezar ya me imaginaba que estaba basada en una novela porque tenía ese aire a novela de wattpad y quería estar equivocada. Al finalizar la película decir googlear para investigar y tuve razón…
Bien, para saber de que trata realmente aquí tienen un poco de la sinopsis:
Tenemos a Reese Russell, una chica que lleva una vida aparentemente perfecta, pero todo cambia cuando comienza a recibir amenazas anónimas. Su padre, Bruce, decide contratar a Eros Douglas, un joven con un pasado criminal, como su guardaespaldas. A pesar de provenir de mundos opuestos, entre Reese y Eros surge una conexión especial que desafía las expectativas y normas sociales.

Now that said, let's move on to my comments. To start, both are young people, teenagers around 17 years old. We have the same social class stereotypes: the protagonist comes from a wealthy family, attending a school for privileged youth. The one they hire as a bodyguard is also a young man, so they eventually enroll him in the school so he can better monitor her. This is a big big cliche, everything is too stereotypical, and it was impossible for me to establish a connection with the film; things happen from one moment to the next, and you don't even have time to feel an emotion. The cast gave a terrible performance, and I'm not one to criticize that, but it really felt like there was no connection; everything felt super forced. Imagine mixing all those things and adding the lack of originality because they're not bringing us something new, just more of the same. Terrible, really. I don't think even my 15-year-old self would have liked it.
On the other hand, it's understandable that they wanted to tackle a sensitive topic like bullying and the fact that there was a hidden crime, but they really failed to convey the message because they didn't know how to do it. Since they wanted to show a parallel teenage romance, a forbidden love between teenagers from different worlds... I think both themes lacked depth and were badly timed. I'm sorry, but this film is a resounding NO. I don't recommend it.
Ahora dicho esto procedo con mis comentarios. Para empezar ambos son jovenes, adolescentes entre los 17 años. Tenemos el chiclé de las clases sociales, la protagonista proviene de una familia con dinero, estudiando en un colegio para jóvenes privilegiados, al que contratan de guardaespaldas también es un joven por lo que eventualmente lo inscriben en el colegio para que pueda vigilarla mejor. Es un cliché andante, demasiado estereotipado todo, además de que me fue imposible establecer una conexión con la película, de un momento a otro pasan cosas y no tienes tiempo ni de sentir una emoción. Los artistas dieron una actuación pésima, y no soy mucho de criticar eso pero de verdad se sentía que no había conexión, todo se sentía super forzado, imagínate mezclar todas esas cosas y sumándole la falta de originalidad porque no nos están trayendo algo nuevo sino más de lo mismo. Pésima, la verdad. Creo que ni a mi yo de 15 años le hubiera gustado.
Por otro lado, se entiende que quisieron tratar un tema delicado como lo que es el acoso escolar y también el hecho de qué había un crimen encubierto pero realmente fallan mucho en transmitir el mensaje porque no supieron como hacerlo. Ya que quieren mostrar en paralelo un romance adolescente, un amor prohibido entre adolescentes de mundos diferentes… Creo que ambos temas carecían de profundidad y bad timming. Lo siento pero esta película es un rotundo NO, yo no la recomiendo.

Me daba curiosidad de que trataba esta historia y hasta quería darle una oportunidad para verla, pero leyendo lo que describes en el post se ve que es una historia muy cliché con la típica trama de una relación de adolescentes prohibida. Hay algunas historias de Wattpad que son rescatables pero la mayoría dejan mucho que desear. Gracias por compartir tu opinión 🤗
Ay amiga, la verdad no la recomiendos, carece muchísimo de profundidad y hasta pierde el sentido.
