Missed Connections | Review & Critics
I was watching a Filipino movie on Netflix today, not sure if this is my first time watching something from a Filipino production.
This time I did read the synopsis offered by Netflix and it goes like this: After an unforgettable encounter, a hopeless romantic turns to an app to seek out a man she just met but is he really what she's looking for?
oy estuve viendo una película filipina en Netflix, no estoy segura si esta es mi primera vez que vea algo de una producción filipina.
Esta vez sí leí la sinopsis que ofrece Netflix y dice así: Después de un encuentro inolvidable, una romántica empedernida recurre a una aplicación para buscar a un hombre que acaba de conocer, pero ¿realmente es él lo que está buscando?

Today I really decided that I wanted to see something for teenagers because that's how the title and synopsis make it look, I thought I would see something cute and I would feel in love but it was nothing like that, it didn't make me feel anything, I think this production it's not enough.
Let's see this story begins with Mae who is the main protagonist, we see her in a store doing the shopping and we find out that she has a T-shirt business, unfortunately we see how she loses the only client she has had in months, and because she is arguing in the cell phone, she mistakes a young man for a salesperson from the store and asks him to pass her a can of sardines and from here her obsession begins.
Realmente hoy decidí que quería ver algo para adolescentes porque así es como lo hace ver el título y la sinopsis, pensé que vería algo tierno y me iba a sentir enamorada pero no fue nada de eso, no me hizo sentir nada, creo que esta producción no basta.
Veamos esta historia empieza con Mae que es la principal protagonista, la vemos en una tienda haciendo las compras y nos enteramos de que tiene un empredimiento de camiseta, desafortunadamente vemos como pierde el único cliente que ha tenido en meses, y por estar discutiendo en el celular, ella confunde a un joven con un vendedor de la tienda y le pide que le pase una lata de sardinas y desde aquí comienza su obsesión.

Like the title of the movie, there's an app called Missed Connections that's about people searching for others using a short description, and anyone can comment on that description. By logic I imagine that the application works by location and people nearby.
como en el título de la película, hay una app que se llama Missed Connections que trata de personas buscando a otras mediante una breve descripción, y cualquier persona puede comentar en esa descripción. Por lógica imagino que la aplicación funciona por ubicación y personas cercanas.

Anyway, this girl seems to fall in love at first sight with this boy and she does everything possible to find him, in the end they meet and he makes things clear.
En fin, esta chica pareciera que se enamora a primera vista de este chico y hace hasta lo imposible para encontrarlo, a fin de cuentas se encuentran y él deja las cosas claras.

The idea behind the film is to see some romantic scenes and think that it's about romance and perhaps a personal encounter, but no scene can really show that this is the case, there is nothing funny in the scenes and in fact I find Mae's insistence worrying since she seems not to be with her feet on the ground, and I understand that it is only a movie but sometimes we understand when a movie is science fiction, mythology, things that are unreal, but these themes about love that many young people observe, any teenager in the prime of their youth uses movies as examples to know what to do in situations.
All the scenes look too forced. Mae seems like a capricious girl and in fact there is a scene where her ex boyfriend tells her the same thing, that she acts like a baby, I wouldn't say exactly like a baby but in the movie she is 25 years old and acts like a 12 year old girl for the whole movie
Despite the fact that the film seems to me to be of a very low budget, that does not imply that it has to be a bad film, now what really makes it a bad film according to my own criteria is that the protagonist, trying to fight against her own loneliness, does things very despicable. She will become a stalker, even though she is struggling with unrequited love. Later she also does cyberbullying, and besides that she still shows that this society mostly humiliates women for almost anything, even so, Mae does not feel one bit of sympathy for the person she humiliated on social networks. She tried to force a love between the boy that she was looking for so much and she also tried to kiss by force.
Honestly I don't think any of this looks good in the real world, I don't think it's an example, I don't think that in the end everything is justified by saying that everything she did was because she didn't know how to accept being alone, it really is something quite crazy , and with which I am not going to agree because it is clearly seen that this film is aimed at that adolescent audience
La idea que supone la película es ver unas escenas románticas y pensar que va del romance y quizás del encuentro personal, pero ninguna escena puede realmente demostrar que sea así, no hay nada gracioso en las escenas y de hecho me parece preocupante la insistencia de Mae ya que parece ella no estar con los pies en la tierra, y entiendo que es sólo una película pero a veces entendemos cuando una película es de ciencia ficción, de mitología, cosas que son irreales, pero estos temas acerca del amor que muchos jóvenes observan, cualquier adolescente en la flor de su juventud usa películas como ejemplos para saber qué hacer en situaciones.
Todas las escenas se ven demasiado forzadas. Mae parece una niña caprichosa y de hecho hay una escena donde su ex novio le dice esto mismo, que ella actúa como un bebé, yo no diría exactamente como un bebé pero en la película tiene 25 años y actúa como una niña de 12 años durante toda la película
A pesar de que la película me parece de muy bajo presupuesto eso no implica que tenga que ser una mala película, ahora lo que realmente lo hace una mala película según mi propio criterio es que la protagonista por tratar de lucha contra su propia soledad hace cosas muy despreciables. Se convertirá en una acosadora, a pesar de que está luchando con un amor no correspondido. Más adelante también hace ciberacoso, y además de que aún muestra que esta sociedad humilla mayormente a la mujer por casi cualquier cosa, aún así, Mae no siente un poco de simpatía por la persona que humillo en redes sociales. Trató de forzar un amor entre el chico que tanto buscó y también trató de besar a la fuerza.
Honestamente no creo que nada de esto se vea bien en el mundo real, no creo que sea un ejemplo, no creo que al final todo se justifique diciendo que todo lo que hizo fue porque ella no sabia aceptar estar sola, realmente es algo bastante loco , y con lo que no voy a estar de acuerdo porque claramente se ve que está película está dirigida para ese público adolescente
