My Oxford Year | Netflix Movies Review
Let's talk a little about this film, which remains in Netflix's Top 10.
It's a comedy-romance film. As we all know, these types of films always come from a novel, and this one is no exception.

Es una película de comedia y romance, como bien sabemos, este tipo de películas siempre vienen de una novela y esta no es la excepción.

Checking the synopsis offered by the Netflix platform itself, we find something like: "While fulfilling her dream of studying at Oxford, an ambitious American falls in love with a charming Briton who hides a secret capable of turning her life upside down."
And that's right, Anna De La Vega's character, played by Sofia Carson, is an American student who puts off a job offered to her on Wall Street. She does so because one of her dreams and part of her list is to earn a Master's degree at Oxford University. It's there that she meets Jamie Davenport's character (Corey Mylchreest), who is also her tutor, and from here, a rather intense romance unfolds. But obviously, it's not all romance, as both characters must face difficult and painful situations.
Haciendo un repaso a la Sinopsis que nos ofrece la misma plataforma de Netflix tenemos: “Mientras cumple su sueño de estudiar en Oxford, una ambiciosa estadounidense se enamora de un encantador británico que esconde un secreto capaz de poner su vida patas arriba.”
Y así es, el personaje de Anna De La Vega quien es interpretado por Sofia Carson, es una estudiante americana que aplaza un trabajo que le ofrecieron en Wall Street, esto lo hace porque uno de sus sueños y parte de su lista es obtener un Master en la Universidad de Oxford. Ahí es donde conoce al personaje de Jamie Davenport (Corey Mylchreest) quién también es su tutor y de aquí, se desata un romance bastante intenso. Pero obviamente, no todo es romance porque ambos personajes deben afrontar situaciones difíciles y dolorosas.

I really didn't want to give any spoilers, but if you go past this point, it will be a spoiler because I'm going to give a comments about the plot.
To start with some positive things, I really liked the setting. I even saw on the actors' Instagram that the locations were real, so their work is greatly appreciated. I also thought Corey's performance was quite good, Sofia's not so much because I feel like she always gives us a bit of the same old story in her episodes. However, I don't consider it terrible; the romantic atmosphere was evident, at least.
What I consider quite negative is that it's always the same cliché, there's almost nothing innovative, and they take a rather abrupt turn, switching from romance to tragedy, so to speak, in a split second. There's no transition; everything is so fast, without anesthesia, one feels disoriented. Another thing I criticize a lot is the lack of originality because this is quite similar to other films that have certainly been a hit in their years of release. The ending, in particular, was very similar to a movie about "bee socks 🐝"
I do recommend watching it because it's a fun way to pass the time. Romance lovers will love this film. It has a beautiful setting, and you can feel some emotions. It also offers that typical invitation to reflection that these types of films leave us with.
La verdad no quería hacer spoiler pero si vas después de este punto, podría un spoiler porque voy a dar un comentario sobre la trama.
Para empezar con algunas cositas positivas, me gustó bastante la ambientación, hasta vi por instagram de los actores que las locaciones fueron reales, así que se aprecia bastante ese trabajo. Además la actuación de Corey me pareció bastante bien, la de Sofia no tanto porque siento que siempre nos da un poco de lo mismo en sus entregas, sin embargo, no lo considero pésimo, se vió el ambiente de romance, al menos.
Lo que considero bastante negativo es que siempre es el mismo cliché, no hay casi nada innovador, además de que dan un giro bastante abrupto, ya que cambian del romance a una tragedia por así decirlo, en un segundo, no hay como una transición, todo es así súper rápido, sin anestesia, uno se siente desorientado. Otra cosa que critico bastante, es la falta de originalidad porque esto se parece bastante a otras películas que ciertamente han sido un boom en sus años de lanzamiento. El final en especial particularmente se me pareció bastante a una donde hay unos “calcetines de abejas 🐝 “
Sí la recomiendo para verla porque es entretenida para pasar el rato, los amantes del romance estarán encantados con esta obra, tiene un bonito entorno y se pueden sentir algunas emociones, además también tenemos esa típica invitación a la reflexión que nos deja este tipo de películas.
I haven't watch the movie but I will try to watch it because I'm a fan of romantic movies.

STOPTe confieso que si me arrepentí de verla, porque no suelo ver películas sobre enfermedades debido a que me afectan, pero no sabía que iba de eso. Como dices carece un poco de originalidad, pero supongo que los que no vieron "Yo antes de ti" tal vez sean más receptivos y flexibles en ese sentido.
