My problem with ‘Divine Influencer’
Let's talk today about Divine Influencer, this movie that's supposedly in Netflix's top 10... I don't know, Rick.
And without further ado, today we'll get to the point. The story is about an influencer who is accustomed to luxury, as her family is wealthy. When she loses her job, her family decides to punish her by cutting off her financial support, which later leads her to live and work in a shelter.

Y sin tantas vueltas al asunto, hoy vamos más al grano. La historia trata de una influencer que está acostumbrada al lujo, pues su familia es adinerada, al ella perder su trabajo su familia decide castigarla cortándole el apoyo económico, por lo qué más adelante la situación la lleva a vivir y trabajar en un refugio.

Let's start with what would be my review because I'd like to mention the positive and negative aspects. I had a hard time thinking about this movie because my thoughts were divided; I didn't know if I hated it or just felt "meh."
The positive thing is the message it tries to convey. If this movie were to reach a younger audience, the lesson would be to open our eyes more and start disconnecting from the virtual world to help more in reality. Not everything in life is based on appearances and popularity. Even here, they show us how all that popularity really feels like a huge void. It also deals a bit with people's purpose and faith, but without it being overly overwhelming.
The negative thing about this movie is that it's always the same cliché, the same type of protagonist. In this case, the rich, classist girl who really has no idea how the world works until she lives with other people for a couple of weeks. The same cliché is always exhausting to watch. It's the kind of movie you can predict from the first minute and decide to stop watching because you've already finished the story in your head.
Everything feels quite fake. It seems like the actors are forced to deliver their lines. Emotions were a feeling they had to pay for separately, and in this case, they didn't have enough money to incorporate them. Because of this same flaw, you don't even feel enough empathy for the characters. You can't even connect with the main character because of how fake everything feels. I understand that the story is really about learning to live with a good purpose in life, about redemption, and also about critiquing today's society, but... it's very difficult to reach this point if you always start from the same stereotype. You don't need to be a millionaire to suffer in life, to be left with nothing, to learn to value. It seems illogical to me that they try to humanize you, but they don't really give you the human side, the real side that you can connect with and deepen.
Empecemos con lo que sería mi critica porque me gustaría mencionar los aspectos positivos y negativos, me costó mucho pensar en esta película porque tenía los pensamientos divididos, no sabía si la odiaba o simplemente ‘meh’.
Lo positivo es el mensaje que trata de transmitir, si esta película llegase a tocar al público joven, la enseñanza seria abrir más los ojos y empezar a desconectarnos del mundo virtual para ayudar más en la realidad, no todo en la vida se basa en las apariencias y la popularidad, incluso aquí nos muestran como toda esa popularidad realmente se siente como un gran vacío. También que trata un poco del propósito de las personas y de la fe pero sin que sea exageradamente abrumador.
Lo negativo de esta película es que siempre es el mismo cliché, es el mismo tipo de protagonista. En este caso la chica rica y clasista que realmente no tiene ni idea de como funciona el mundo hasta que convive un par de semanas con otras personas. Siempre el mismo cliché es agotador de ver, es el tipo de película que desde el primer minuto puedes predecir y decidir dejar de verla porque ya en tu mente terminaste la historia.
Todo se siente bastante falso, parece que los actores están obligados a decir sus líneas, la emoción era un sentimiento que tenían qué pagar por separado y en este caso no les alcanzó el presupuesto para incorporarlo y por esta misma falla es que tampoco te alcanza para sentir empatía por los personajes, ni siquiera puedes conectar con el personaje principal de lo falso que se siente todo. Entiendo que la historia realmente es sobre aprender a vivir con un buen propósito en la vida, de la redención y también la critica a la sociedad actual, pero… es muy difícil llegar a este punto si partes siempre desde el mismo estereotipo, no necesitas ser una millonaria para sufrir en la vida, para quedarte sin nada, para aprender a valorar. Me parece ilógico que traten de humanizarte pero realmente no te dan la parte humana, la parte real con la que te puedes conectar y profundizar.
