Parte de haber estudiado comunicación y que me cambió la vida, fue la manera en la que me enseñaron a ver el material audiovisual, cuando quiero ver una película simplemente la disfruto sin más, me da igual si hay explosiones, autos voladores o una historia rebuscada, sin embargo, cuando quiero ‘Ver’ una película, me centro mucho más en lo artístico de la misma, las tomas de la cámara, lo que transmiten los personajes, los colores, el vestuario, la forma de escribir y desarrollar una historia o personaje,

La película que quiero recomendarles hoy, no es nueva, no es novedosa y no va a cambiar tu forma de ver la vida, sin embargo, te pido que en la medida de tus posibilidades la mires con un ojo más critico, notes como los personajes transmiten sus emociones, notes las locaciones, notes el vestuario y todos aquellos detalles que conforman Troya, una película de 2004, pero que personalmente siempre he recomendado ver a los estudiantes de audiovisuales y comunicación.

[English Translation] Part of having studied communication and that changed my life, was the way I was taught to see the audiovisual material, when I want to see a movie I simply enjoy it, I don't care if there are explosions, flying cars or a far-fetched story, however, when I want to 'See' a movie, I focus much more on the artistic aspect of it, the camera shots, what the characters transmit, the colors, the costumes, the way of writing and developing a story or character,

The film I want to recommend today is not new, it is not novel and it will not change your way of seeing life, however, I ask you to look at it with a more critical eye, notice how the characters convey their emotions, notice the locations, notice the costumes and all those details that make up Troy, a film of 2004, but that I personally have always recommended to see to students of audiovisual and communication.

Últimamente me he fijado en que por diversos temas, las películas cada vez son más cortas y evidentemente por temas económicos, muchas veces se producen películas en dos o más partes cortas, e incluso algunos prefieren hacer series cortas de 6 capítulos y no se atreven a realizar una película completa, aunque las personas suelen consumir la serie en formato Marathon.

También, ya sea la historia de un videojuego (Halo, Mario Bross, Warcraft), inspiradas en un libro (Juegos del hambre, Harry Potter, Narnia) o simplemente un Remake (Dune, Tron, TopGun), las adaptaciones son cada vez más comunes y en ocasiones se siente como si el mundo se estuviese quedando sin ideas, ¿Cuántas películas de un ataque Zombie viste en la última década? ¿Cuántas nuevas versiones de la cenicienta? ¿Cuántas adaptaciones de los fantasmas de Scrooge animan tu Navidad?

[English Translation] Recently I have noticed that for various reasons, movies are getting shorter and shorter and obviously for economic reasons, many times movies are produced in two or more short parts, and even some prefer to make short series of 6 chapters and do not dare to make a complete movie, although people usually consume the series in Marathon format.

Also, whether it is the story of a video game (Halo, Mario Bross, Warcraft), inspired by a book (Hunger Games, Harry Potter, Narnia) or simply a Remake (Dune, Tron, TopGun), adaptations are becoming more and more common and sometimes it feels like the world is running out of ideas, how many Zombie attack movies did you see in the last decade? How many new versions of Cinderella? How many adaptations of Scrooge's ghosts cheer up your Christmas?

Aquí es donde digo que Troya no es novedosa, basada en la epopeya griega La Ilíada de Homero, una novela que muchos habrán leído y un momento de la historia de la humanidad que ya es cultura general, por lo que esta adaptación al cine es solo una de las más de diez adaptaciones que se ha hecho de esta historia, pero mi primer punto para recomendarla es que es una muy buena adaptación, no retiran parte de la historia para ahorrar tiempo de pantalla y logran mostrar a través de sus personajes acción, pasión, drama y demás elementos que Homero plasmaba en su poema.

Cabe destacar que si digo Brad Pitt y Orlando Bloom, conocerás a dos de las grandes figuras que participaron en este largometraje, pero están acompañados de actores como Eric Bana, Sean Bean, Diane Kruger o Brendan Glesson, que quizás por nombre te suenen menos, pero todos grandes actores consagrados tanto en cine como en series muy populares, por lo que puedo asegurarte que el reparto de este film es algo que no tiene desperdicio alguno, y como es de esperar, buenos actores se transforman en buenos personajes.

[English Translation] This is where I say that Troy is not new, based on the Greek epic The Iliad by Homer, a novel that many will have read and a moment in the history of mankind that is already general culture, so this film adaptation is only one of more than ten adaptations that have been made of this story, but my first point to recommend it is that it is a very good adaptation, they do not remove part of the story to save screen time and manage to show through their characters action, passion, drama and other elements that Homer captured in his poem.

It should be noted that if I say Brad Pitt and Orlando Bloom, you will know two of the great figures who participated in this film, but they are accompanied by actors like Eric Bana, Sean Bean, Diane Kruger or Brendan Glesson, who may sound less familiar by name, but all great actors acclaimed both in film and in very popular series, so I can assure you that the cast of this film is something that has no waste, and as expected, good actors are transformed into good characters.

Para quienes no conocen esta historia, en Troya nos cuentan la leyenda de Aquiles, un guerrero temido por muchos debido a sus hazañas en combate, y la historia de Héctor y Paris, príncipes de la ciudad de Troya, una ciudad deseada por el Rey de los reinos Griegos Agamenón, para expandir su dominio por la región y obtener control sobre el mar Egeo. Sin embargo, en Troya no hay un bueno o un malo, ya que como en todas las guerras puedes ser tú como espectador quien elija el bando de tu preferencia, y la forma en la que nos cuentan la historia, nos permite por momentos sentir más afinidad por Aquiles, o quizás por Héctor y su familia, incluso a empatizar y entender a Agamenón y su hermano Menelao, entender el amor a través de la mirada de Helena, Briseida o Andromaca, o aprender sobre la política a través de Príamo Rey de Grecia, todo esto siendo la historia que le contase Odiseo a Homero para que nunca fuesen olvidados los nombres de quienes participaron en esta batalla.

Aunado a los buenos personajes y como transmiten, Troya me recuerda aquella buena época del cine donde hay fuego, donde hay escenarios, donde hay tomas cinematográficas de bellos paisajes, y no se graba toda una película en una habitación verde, utilizando muy bien la mezcla entre CGI y extras, logran captar escenas totalmente épicas de combate y paisajes asombrosos a un nivel que solo el buen cine puede ofrecer, todo esto con un vestuario excelente en cuanto a armaduras y sus piezas, togas e incluso los detalles estéticos en el peinado de los artistas, y un acompañamiento musical que logra meterte y reforzar el sentimiento de cada escena.

[English Translation] For those who do not know this story, in Troy we are told the legend of Achilles, a warrior feared by many due to his feats in combat, and the story of Hector and Paris, princes of the city of Troy, a city desired by the King of the Greek kingdoms Agamemnon, to expand his dominion over the region and gain control over the Aegean Sea. However, in Troy there is no good or bad guy, as in all wars you as a spectator can choose the side of your preference, and the way in which we are told the story, allows us at times to feel more affinity for Achilles, or perhaps for Hector and his family, even to empathize and understand Agamemnon and his brother Menelaus, to understand love through the eyes of Helen, Briseis or Andromache, or to learn about politics through Priam King of Greece, all this being the story that Odysseus told Homer so that the names of those who participated in this battle would never be forgotten.

Together with the good characters and how they transmit, Troy reminds me of that good time of cinema where there is fire, where there are scenarios, where there are cinematic shots of beautiful landscapes, and not a whole movie is recorded in a green room, using very well the mix between CGI and extras, they manage to capture totally epic scenes of combat and amazing landscapes at a level that only good cinema can offer, all this with an excellent costumes in terms of armor and its pieces, togas and even the aesthetic details in the hairstyle of the artists, and a musical accompaniment that manages to get you and reinforce the feeling of each scene.

Para terminar, Troya es una película que quizás no te parezca la mejor, pero donde claramente se hicieron bien las cosas, y entiendo que no a muchos les gusta este género cinematográfico, pero viendo el filme con ojo crítico, te aseguro vas a poder disfrutar de la magia que esta película transmite.

No es una película que debas ir corriendo a ver, pero es una película que te recomiendo ver al menos un par de veces en tu vida, una historia para devorar uno de esos domingos donde no hay otra cosa para hacer, una historia que puede llegar a ser divertida o reflexiva dependiendo de como la consumas y que sin duda va a cambiar tus exigencias para con el cine en la actualidad.

[English Translation] To conclude, Troy is a film that may not seem like the best, but where things were clearly done well, and I understand that not many people like this film genre, but watching the film with a critical eye, I assure you that you will be able to enjoy the magic that this film conveys.

It is not a film that you should rush to see, but it is a film that I recommend you see at least a couple of times in your life, a story to devour one of those Sundays where there is nothing else to do, a story that can be funny or thoughtful depending on how you consume it and that will certainly change your demands for movies today.
