[Animation revie] [Eng | Esp] Moana 2
Welcome my dear Hawaiian travelers of the internet and thank you very much for making a temporary stop in my post, Moana is one of my favorite current Disney movies because as a whole it is very well made from its soundtrack to its premise, that is why when its sequel came out I knew that it was a more than obligatory appointment. Without further ado, get ready to go and challenge a God because we are about to begin.
Bienvenidos mis queridos viajeros hawaianos del internet y muchas gracias por haber hecho una parada temporal en mi post, Moana es una de mis películas actuales de Disney favoritas debido a que como un todo está muy bien hecha desde su banda sonora hasta su premisa, es por ello que cuando salió su secuela sabía que era una cita más que obligatoria. Sin más que agregar, alístense para ir a desafiar a un Dios pues estamos por comenzar.
Moana 2 was released in 2024, directed by David Derrick, Jason Hand and Dana Ledoux, produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios, has a duration of 1 hour and 39 minutes. It is an adventure and comedy animation, the story focuses again on Moana who is sailing freely, however, she receives a warning from her ancestors that she needs to embark to distant lands if she wants to preserve the well-being of her people, however, this whole adventure will be plagued by new and old threats.
Moana 2 fue estrenada en 2024, dirigida por David Derrick, Jason Hand y Dana Ledoux, producida por Walt Disney Animation Studios, cuenta con una duración de 1 hora y 39 minutos. Es una animación de aventura y comedia, la historia se enfoca nuevamente en Moana la cual se encuentra navegando libremente, no obstante, recibe una advertencia por parte de sus ancestros de que necesita embarcarse a tierras lejanas si desea preservar el bienestar de su pueblo, sin embargo, toda esta aventura se encontrará plagada de nuevas y viejas amenazas.

The animation is quite nice, from the very beginning it feels very fluid, however, something that the first installment did very well was to feel extremely vibrant with its color palette and a spectacular amount of details, something that is not appreciated in this film, it could be argued that it seeks to have a more "gloomy" theme but that is no excuse to ignore the details that make the animation stand out.
La animación es bastante agradable, desde el vamos la misma se nota muy fluida, no obstante, algo que la primera entrega hizo muy bien fue el sentirse sumamente vibrante con su paleta de colores y una cantidad de detalles espectacular algo que no se aprecia en este filme, se podría argumentar que se busca tener una temática más "lúgubre" pero eso no es excusa para obviar los detalles que hagan destacar a la animación.
The soundtrack is very forgettable, this is a section that is quite painful especially for a Disney animation in which the musical accompaniment is always treated with great affection, no piece feels catchy or with a significant weight in the plot, they feel more like a way to consume time than as an interesting addition.
La banda sonora es muy olvidable, esto es un apartado que resulta bastante doloroso sobre todo para una animación de Disney en la cual siempre se le trata con mucho cariño al acompañamiento musical, ninguna pieza se siente pegadiza o con un peso significativo en la trama, las mismas se sienten más como una forma de consumir tiempo que como un añadido interesante.
The construction of the world is inefficient, it is a recycling of ideas in the best of cases and the world is never explored in any interesting way, this is an absolute waste because it is supposed that the theme of it consists of expanding the horizon and discovering new things, being that both elements remain as ideas in the inkwell and never really get consolidated in any way. Something funny is the apathy and lack of personality of the protagonist"s people, they literally tell them that they can all die and they remain very calm without flinching, nothing to do with the paranoia and general crisis that there was in the first installment.
La construcción de mundo es ineficiente, la misma es un reciclaje de ideas en el mejor de los casos y nunca se explora el mundo de alguna forma interesante, esto es un desperdicio absoluto debido a que se supone que la temática de la misma consta de expandir el horizonte y descubrir nuevas cosas, siendo que ambos elementos se quedan como ideas en el tintero y nunca llegan realmente a consolidarse de ninguna forma. Algo gracioso es la apatía y la falta de personalidad del pueblo de la protagonista, literalmente les dicen que pueden morirse todos y estos se quedan bien tranquilos sin inmutarse, nada que ver con la paranoia y crisis general que hubo en la primera entrega.
The plot is extremely insipid, it lacks a really striking motivation, it is supposed that in this installment a new threat of equal or greater danger than in the prequel is faced, however, the film does not know how to convey this threat. Narratively there is not much, apparently what moves the plot is the risk of death of both the protagonist and her people, something that never becomes palpable in any way, on the other hand, both the comedy and the moments of tension feel empty, the same happens with the final confrontation that lacks emotion and seems a poorly made rehash of what the first installment presented; Its message that sometimes it is necessary to let go and change in order to move forward is beautiful and quite philosophical although it is worked on in a rather pathetic way, this accumulation of failures makes it very tedious to watch even for the little ones.
La trama es sumamente insípida, la misma carece de una motivación realmente llamativa, se supone que en esta entrega se hace frente a una nueva amenaza de igual o mayor peligro que en la precuela, no obstante, la cinta no sabe transmitir dicha amenaza. Narrativamente no hay mucho, aparentemente lo que mueve a la trama es el riesgo de muerte tanto de la protagonista como de su pueblo, algo que nunca llega a ser palpable de ninguna forma, por otro lado, tanto la comedia como los momentos de tensión se sienten vacíos, lo mismo sucede con el enfrentamiento final que carece de emoción y parece un refrito mal hecho de lo que presentó la primera entrega; su mensaje de que a veces es necesario soltar y cambiar para poder avanzar es lindo y bastante filosófico aunque es trabajado de forma bastante patética, este cúmulo de fallos hace que se haga muy tediosa de ver incluso para los más pequeños.
This is one of the most inconsequential sections that animation has, despite the fact that the concept of change is implicit in the narrative it is not transmitted in any way to its characters, from the beginning to the end the characters already known are exactly the same, they do not present any kind of progression or anything that resembles it, On the other hand, the new additions go unnoticed. The villain is the great failure of this section, if there is something that the first installment made evident is that they can make antagonists with a good motivation and with whom despite everything you can empathize, here that does not happen, a generic villain is exposed that is only bad because yes, it is a quite remarkable setback if compared to its predecessor.
Este es uno de los apartados más intrascendentes que tiene la animación, pese a que el concepto de cambio este implícito en la narrativa este no se transmite de ninguna forma a sus personajes, desde el inicio hasta el final los personajes ya conocidos son exactamente los mismos, no presentan ninguna clase de progresión ni nada que se le asemeje, por otro lado, las nuevas incorporaciones pasan sin pena ni gloria. El villano es el gran fracaso de este apartado, si hay algo que dejo en evidencia la primera entrega es que pueden hacer antagonistas con una buena motivación y con el cual pese a todo se puede empatizar, aquí no sucede eso, se expone un villano genérico que solo es malo porque si, es un retroceso bastante denotable si se le compara con su predecesora.
Moana 2 is one of those sequels that forgot to keep the good things of its predecessor, in general terms, it feels less personalized, less interesting and more tedious. It is for all of the above that it deserves 2 stars out of 7, although it does not commit such horrible sins, it has behind it a prequel that made it infinitely better, this drop in quality is something quite sad for this interesting franchise.
Moana 2 es de esas secuelas que se les olvidó mantener las cosas buenas de su predecesora, en líneas generales, se siente con menos personalidad, menos interesante y más tediosa. Es por todo lo anterior que merece 2 estrellas de 7, si bien no comete pecados tan horribles, tiene a sus espaldas una precuela que lo hizo infinitamente mejor, este bajón de calidad es algo bastante triste para esta franquicia tan interesante.
