Welcome my dear renegade internet travelers and thank you very much for having made a temporary stop in my post, series based on video games have never particularly caught my attention and on more than one occasion I have postponed watching them, that is exactly what happened to me with the "Arcane" series especially due to the fact that it is based on a game that is not of interest to me, however, I decided to give it a chance to see what it had to offer. Without further ado, prepare to face an unfair system because we are about to begin.
Bienvenidos mis queridos viajeros renegados del internet y muchas gracias por haber hecho una parada temporal en mi post, las series basadas en videojuegos nunca han llamado especialmente mi atención y en más de una ocasión he postergado el verlas, es exactamente eso lo que me pasó con la serie "Arcane" sobre todo por el hecho de que se encuentra basada en un juego que no es de mi interés, no obstante, decidí darle una oportunidad a ver que tenía para ofrecer. Sin más que agregar prepárense para enfrentarse a un sistema injusto pues estamos por comenzar.
Arcane was released in 2021, it is based on the video game "League of Legends" by Riot Games, created by Christian Linke and Alex Yee, directed by Ash Brannon, produced by Fortiche Production, currently has 1 single season of 9 episodes of 40 minutes long. It is an action and fantasy animation, the story takes place in both the city of Piltover and Zaun, the first is rich and privileged while the other is a disaster due to the amount of crimes, precariousness and misfortunes, all the tensions that exist between both cities are increased due to two creations, on the one hand, there is the "Hextech" that allows anyone to use magic through technology and on the other there is the "Shimmer" that transforms human beings into highly violent monsters; These advances being the fuel to create more friction between cities and increase the possibilities of conflict, this dispute is reflected in all citizens by denoting the aversion they feel towards each other. All this maelstrom of conflict and discontent will be what makes this story dense, complicated and with multiple unexpected twists.
Arcane fue estrenada en 2021, se encuentra basada en el videojuego "League of Legends" de Riot Games, creada por Christian Linke y Alex Yee, dirigida por Ash Brannon, producida por Fortiche Production, cuenta actualmente con 1 única temporada de 9 episodios de 40 minutos de duración. Es una animación de acción y fantasía, la historia se desarrolla tanto en la ciudad de Piltover como en Zaun, la primera es rica y con privilegios mientras la otra es un desastre debido a la cantidad de crímenes, precariedad y desgracias, todas las tensiones que existen entre ambas ciudades se incrementan debido a dos creaciones, por un lado, están las "Hextech" que le permite a cualquier persona utilizar la magia por medio de la tecnología y por el otro está el "Shimmer" que transforma a los seres humanos en monstruos altamente violentos; siendo estos avances el combustible para crear más fricciones entre las ciudades y acrecentar las posibilidades de conflicto, dicha disputa se ve reflejada en todos los ciudadanos al denotarse la aversión que sienten los unos con los otros. Toda esta vorágine de conflicto y descontento serán los que hagan de esta historia algo denso, complicado y con múltiples giros inesperados.

The animation is simply amazing, throughout it you can see its high quality and level of detail, from the beginning you can see a completely splendid level of fluidity, as well as a completely successful use of color palettes to make different elements and characters represent something only because of the color they contain; All of the above is great for all the dynamic and adrenaline scenes it has.
La animación es sencillamente alucinante, a lo largo de esta se puede denotar la alta calidad y nivel de detalle de la misma, desde el vamos se puede apreciar un nivel de fluidez completamente espléndido, así como un uso completamente acertado de las paletas de colores para hacer que diferentes elementos y personajes representen algo solo por el color que albergan; todo lo anterior le viene estupendo para todas las escenas dinámicas y adrenalínicas que posee.
I will only say 3 words "Enemies - Imagine Dragons" and with that you will know that the soundtrack of this series is simply excellent, in addition, it has other musical pieces that fit perfectly with the different scenes that the series has, the latter being what makes that you are brought to life and have a much more interesting meaning that ranges from making a scene more tragic or a moment of tension more intriguing, it is a section that is generally very well worked on.
Solo diré 3 palabras "Enemies - Imagine Dragons" nada más con eso sabrán que la banda sonora de esta serie es sencillamente excelente, además, tiene otras piezas musicales que encajan perfectamente con las diferentes escenas que tiene la serie, siendo esto último lo que hace que estás cobren vida y tengan un sentido mucho más interesante que va desde hacer una escena más trágica o un momento de tensión más intrigante, es un apartado que se encuentra en líneas generales muy bien trabajado.
The construction of the world is exquisite, in the way in which it creates its context it makes it very clear that the bases of its world contain an endless number of different and amazing things ranging from interesting technology that marks a before and after in society like different fantasy elements that fit very well into that already quite intriguing environment, on the other hand, its scenarios stand out quite a bit because many of these have their own character that seeks to reaffirm a main idea from which they emerge, this is what makes the scenery as such have narrative meaning and an extremely interesting message.
La construcción del mundo es exquisita, de cara a la forma en que crea su contexto deja muy claro que las bases de su mundo contienen un sin fin de cosas diferentes y alucinantes que van desde tecnología interesante que marca un antes y un después en la sociedad como diferentes elementos de fantasía que encajan muy bien en ese ambiente ya de por sí bastante intrigante, por otro lado, sus escenarios destacan bastante debido a que muchos de estos tienen un carácter propio que busca reafirmar una idea principal de la cual estos se desprenden, siendo esto lo que hace que la escenografía como tal tenga significado narrativo y un mensaje sumamente interesante.

De cara a su sociedad hay mucha tela por cortar, desde el vamos se plantea un conflicto social importante que marcó un antes y un después entre las ciudades, y, a su vez, dejo el terreno allanado para que un nuevo conflicto pueda estallar en cualquier momento, esto que acabo de mencionar es solo la punta del iceberg debido a que producto de lo anterior mencionado se delinea una predisposición al odio por parte de su gente que es trabajado de forma excelente, por otro lado, su sociedad se siente viva debido a que los diversos acontecimientos tienen repercusiones interesantes las cuales tienen un efecto domino al producir múltiples consecuencias, todo lo anterior mencionado hace que su mundo sea perfecto debido a que absolutamente todo lo que ocurra que genere un impacto destacable será el inicio de algo o que se acreciente algo previamente establecido que hara que diversos individuos o grupos actuen de una u otra forma.
It is surprising how complex the plot of this series can be, this is due to the fact that it never focuses on a single character but rather the stories of multiple individuals develop in parallel, sometimes individually and become interconnected. In an extremely organic and natural way, all of the above means that the different conflicts that arise can be appreciated from different angles and positions. In addition, all of this is seasoned with various much larger conflicts that range from the economic to the social. They evolve as the various stories of the characters nourish them in one way or another. Its action scenes are completely dynamic and wonderful, however, what stands out most about them is not the level of violence they have but the repercussions that these conflicts bring because everything has a consequence.
Es sorprendente lo compleja que puede llegar a ser la trama de esta serie, lo anterior se debe al hecho de que nunca se enfoca a un solo personaje sino que las historias de múltiples individuos se van desarrollando paralelamente a veces de forma individual y se van interconectados de una forma sumamente orgánica y natural, todo lo anterior hace que los diferentes conflictos que se plantean se puedan apreciar desde diferentes ángulos y posturas, además, todo esto se encuentra sazonado con diversos conflictos mucho más grandes que van desde lo económico hasta lo social que van evolucionando conforme las diversas historias de los personajes los van nutriendo de una u otra forma. Sus escenas de acción son completamente dinámicas y maravillosas, no obstante, lo que más destaca de estas no es el nivel de violencia que tengan sino las repercusiones que estos conflictos acarrean debido a que todo tiene una consecuencia.
Narratively it is wonderful, all of this is due to the fact that it knows how to enrich its own narrative based on its different characters and their backgrounds, all this intelligent use of data makes the multiple conflicts that are put on the table coherent and logical, in turn, knows how to take its time so that the premise progresses as the actions of its characters allow, so it does not feel rushed in any way and many of the dilemmas it poses feel plausible and logical, things like corruption, addiction, laziness, nepotism, tragedies, among others, are some of the many interesting elements that are included in the narrative intelligently to the point that it gives the impression of not having a fixed direction and that it is its characters who go guiding the plot with his actions and not the other way around. Obviously there is not much to talk about its duration because it only has 1 season, the only thing that needs to be highlighted is that if this level of quality is maintained it could easily have 4 more seasons due to its narrative richness.
Narrativamente es maravillosa, todo ello se debe al hecho de que sabe enriquecer su propia narrativa a base de sus diferentes personajes y sus trasfondos, todo este uso inteligente de los datos produce que los múltiples conflictos que se ponen sobre la mesa tengan coherencia y sean lógicos, a su vez, sabe tomarse su tiempo para que la premisa avance conforme lo permiten las acciones de sus personajes por lo que no se siente apurada de ninguna forma y muchos de los dilemas que plantea se sienten plausibles y lógicos, cosas como la corrupción, la adicción, desidia, nepotismo, las tragedias, entre otros, son algunos de los muchos elementos interesantes que son incluidos en la narrativa de forma inteligente al punto de que da la impresión de no tener un rumbo fijo y que son sus personajes los que van guiando a la trama con sus acciones y no al revés. Evidentemente no hay mucho que hablar con respecto a su duración debido a que apenas lleva 1 temporada, lo único que es menester destacar es que si este nivel de calidad se mantiene fácilmente podría tener 4 temporadas más debido a que su riqueza narrativa da para ello.

Moving on to the most important characters, some can be highlighted such as: Jayce, a boy through whom you can see the levels of corruption that exists in Piltover in which political favors and looking the other way is the daily bread, In turn, it denotes her impotence in the face of a rotten system and all the difficulties that it means to guide her towards the correct path. As a character, it also denotes a certain degree of evolution both in her ideals and in her way of seeing the world, both elements They give an interesting background.
Hablar de sus personajes es un tema complicado debido a que existen muchos que son muy interesantes, como mencioné previamente las acciones de todos son importantes y repercuten de forma directa o indirecta para el avance de la trama, esto hace que de forma general todos puedan llegar a tener relevancia de una u otra forma, lo anterior es palpable de forma muy sencilla con sus personajes secundarios los cuales pese a su carácter complementario también poseen un peso destacable bien sea en la trama y/o en algún personaje principal. Pasando a los personajes más importantes, se pueden destacar algunos como: Jayce un chico mediante el cual se pueden ver los niveles de corrupción que existe en Piltover en la cual los favores políticos y el mirar hacia otro lado es el pan de cada día, a su vez, se denota su impotencia ante un sistema podrido y todas las dificultades que significa el poder orientarla hacia el camino correcto, como personaje también se denota cierto grado de evolución tanto en sus ideales como en su forma de ver el mundo, ambos elementos le dan un trasfondo interesante.
On the other hand, there is Mel, a member of the city council, this is another character who tries to do the right thing in a society that has a lot of garbage under the rug, although her conflicts are objectively the least explored because they are only slightly presented in order to leave it for later, despite this he shows a pleasant personality that was forged by a difficult past (There is a lot of this in this series). Going to the other side of the pond we have the sisters who grew up in Zaun, from the beginning it is made clear that their relationship will be complicated due to the very precarious circumstances in which they were raised and countless adversities that they had to face, all of this defines them and in turn defines the path they will take, both of them directly or indirectly causing many of the events in the series, as well as having their own personal problems as a result of the decisions they made, one of which presents so many mental problems that she is to a certain extent a very careful anarchic and unpredictable villain, and, despite this, you can empathize with her due to all the difficulties and fatalities she had to go through at a young age.
Por otro lado, está Mel un miembro del consejo de la ciudad, este es otro personaje que intenta hacer lo correcto en una sociedad que tiene mucha basura bajo la alfombra, si bien sus conflictos son objetivamente los menos explorados debido a que estos solo son levemente presentados a fin de dejarlo para más adelante, pese a ello muestra una personalidad agradable que fue forjada por un pasado difícil (Hay mucho de esto en esta serie). Pasando del otro lado del charco tenemos a las hermanas que se criaron en Zaun, desde el vamos se deja claro que su relación será complicado debido a las circunstancias tan precarias en las que fueron criadas y un sin número de adversidades que debieron afrontar, todo esto las va definiendo y define a su vez el camino que tomaran siendo ambas causantes de forma directa o indirecta de muchos de los eventos de la serie, así como también tener sus propios problemas personales producto de las decisiones que tomaron, siendo que una de estas presenta tantos problemas mentales que es hasta cierto punto una villana anárquica e impredecible de mucho cuidado, y, pese a ello, puedes empatizar con ella debido a todas las dificultades y fatalidades que tuvo que atravesar a una corta edad.
Lastly I will mention Silco, the main villain, what makes him interesting as a character is not his cold and calculated actions (Although he is an expert in doing barbarism) but the fact that he is not the type of one-dimensional villain who is bad just because, the latter has a purpose and a reason for being which is based on the terrible conflict that he had to face in favor of the freedom of his people from the underground, this means that despite his Machiavellian methodology what he is doing makes sense because It is made clear what injustices he fights against, although his methods are quite questionable, it is undeniable that his intentions are noble. Apart from these, there are other characters that are very interesting and deserve to be highlighted as well, but if I mentioned all of them this would be very long, I will simply highlight that there are some characters that have so much influence on others that even after death they continue to have relevance in the narrative in one form or another.
Por último mencionaré a Silco, el villano principal, lo que lo hace interesante como personaje no son sus actos fríos y calculados (Aunque es experto en hacer barbaries) sino el hecho de que no es el tipo de villano unidimensional que es malo solo porque si, este último tiene un propósito y una razón de ser la cual se fundamenta en el terrible conflicto que debió afrontar en pro de la libertad de su gente del subterráneo, esto hace que pese a su metodología maquiavélica tenga sentido lo que está haciendo debido a que se deja bien presente cuáles son las injusticias contra las que lucha, si bien sus métodos son bastante cuestionables es innegable que sus intenciones son nobles. Aparte de estos existen otros personajes que son muy interesantes y merecen ser destacados también pero sí los mencionase a todos esto se haría muy largo, simplemente destacaré que hay algunos personajes que tienen tanta influencia en otros que incluso después de muertos estos siguen teniendo relevancia en la narrativa de una u otra forma.
Arcane is without a doubt the best series based on a video game that I have ever seen, the intelligent way in which it approaches its different conflicts is simply wonderful, and its well-defined characters are what cause its different events to have meaning. and a reason for being, in short, despite the short duration of this series, at the moment it can be clearly stated that its way of developing its society as a whole makes it feel like an entity in constant change just as ours is. society itself, it being this level of detail and realism that makes the different situations and conflicts feel so personal and keeps the viewer captivated in such a wonderful way. It is for all the above that it deserves 5.5 stars out of 7, if it develops in a good way all the conflicts raised in this first season I can assure you that it will be a series that marks a before and after, I recommend it to you no matter if they are not League of Legends fans.
Arcane es sin lugar a dudas la mejor serie basada en un videojuego que haya visto, la forma tan inteligente con la que aborda sus diferentes conflictos es sencillamente maravillosa, siendo que sus personajes tan bien definidos son los que provocan que sus diferentes acontecimientos tengan un significado y una razón de ser, en síntesis, pese a la corta duración que tiene esta serie de momento se puede sacar en limpio que su forma de desarrollar a su sociedad como un todo la hace sentir como un ente en constante cambio tal y como es nuestra propia sociedad, siendo este nivel de detalle y realismo lo que hace que las diferentes situaciones y conflictos se sientan tan personales y mantengan al espectador cautivado de una forma tan maravillosa. Es por todo lo anterior que merece 5,5 estrellas de 7, si desarrolla de buena forma todos los conflictos planteados en esta primera temporada les puedo asegurar que será una serie que marque un antes y un después, se las recomiendo no importa si no son fanáticos de League of Legends.
