[Animation review] [Eng | Esp] Nimona | The weight of rejection is incalculable
Welcome my dear internet travelers gentlemen and thank you very much for making a temporary stop in my post, there are projects that overcome all the existing obstacles and for having, the present film that brings us together today has overcome all the obstacles that have been placed and is that "Nimona" is an interesting proposal that puts on the table a futuristic medieval fantasy with more than one interesting twist. Without further ado, get ready to change shape because we are about to begin.
Bienvenidos mis queridos caballeros viajeros del internet y muchas gracias por hacer una parada temporal en mi post, existen proyectos que se sobreponen a todas las trabas habidas y por haber, el presente filme que hoy nos reune ha sorteado todos los obstáculos que le han puesto y es que “Nimona” es una propuesta interesante que pone sobre la mesa una fantasía medieval futurista con más de un giro interesante. Sin más que agregar prepárense para cambiar de forma pues estamos por comenzar.
Nimona was released this year, it is based on the webcomic of the same name, directed by Nick Bruno and Troy Quane, produced by Annapurna Pictures, it has a duration of 1 hour and 39 minutes. It is a comedy and adventure story, everything takes place in a medieval world in which knights represent a vital figure in society since they are in charge of protecting people in the event of an attack by a monster, this responsibility has been delegated by generations of warriors who received the teachings of the warrior who saved her people more than a thousand years ago, that is why when a commoner decides to become a knight everyone turns against him, suspiciously he is accused of a crime that he did not he committed and his only ally will be a rebellious little girl with shapeshifting powers who will be the only one to help him clear his name and find the truth.
Nimona fue estrenada este año, se encuentra basada en el webcomic homónimo, dirigida por Nick Bruno y Troy Quane, producida por Annapurna Pictures, cuenta con una duración de 1 hora y 39 minutos. Es una historia de comedia y aventuras, todo se desarrolla en un mundo medieval futurista en el cual los caballeros representan una figura vital en la sociedad puesto que son estos los encargados de proteger a las personas en caso del ataque de algún monstruo, esta responsabilidad ha sido delegada por generaciones de guerreros que recibieron las enseñanzas de la guerrera que salvo a su pueblo hace más de mil años, es por ello que cuando un plebeyo decide volverse un caballero todos se ponen en contra, de forma sospechosa es inculpado de un crimen que no cometió y su única aliada será una pequeña niña rebelde con poderes de metamorfos que será la única que lo ayude a limpiar su nombre y hallar la verdad.

The animation is simply fantastic, it has a very well achieved style with a handling of heavy and vibrant colors mixed with shadows that is simply wonderful, its fluidity is indisputable which goes hand in hand with a different way of animating that seems to be inspired by works in the style of Tim Burton, enchants the viewer without any problem.
La animación es sencillamente fantástica, está posee un estilo muy bien logrado con un manejo de colores pesados y vibrantes mezclado con sombras que resulta simplemente maravilloso, su fluidez es indiscutible la cual va de la mano con una forma distinta de animar que parece estar inspirada en obras al estilo de Tim Burton, deja encantado al espectador sin ningún problema.
The soundtrack is quite nice, it gives a very good character to the film with a simply wonderful musical accompaniment which is dominated by instrumental music that is hard not to love.
La banda sonora es bastante agradable, la misma le da un carácter muy bueno al filme con un acompañamiento musical sencillamente maravilloso el cual se encuentra predominado por música instrumental que es difícil no amarla.
The world building is interesting due to the combination of a society that has certain medieval and futuristic nuances making it look good, however it is not something that is explored or on which much emphasis is placed but it still looks good. The society that it raises has fear in its nexus, which puts them in a submissive and manipulable position, this is exposed in a certain way with their culture, although it is not greatly deepened either, being something that could have given a lot of play. Finally, I have to highlight how disappointing it is that fantasy does not have a greater presence in its setting since it is supposed to play an important narrative role but at a contextual level it does not feel that way.
La construcción de mundo es interesante debido a la combinación de una sociedad que tenga ciertos matices medievales y futuristas haciendo que quede bien, no obstante no es algo que se explore ni en lo que se haga mucho énfasis pero pese a ello queda bien. La sociedad que plantea posee en su nexo el miedo lo que los pone en una posición sumisa y manipulable, esto se expone de cierta forma con su cultura aunque tampoco es profundizado de sobremanera siendo algo que pudo haber dado mucho juego. Por último he de destacar lo decepcionante que es el hecho de que la fantasía no tenga una mayor presencia en su ambientación puesto que se supone que está juega un papel narrativo importante pero a nivel contextual no se siente así.
The plot begins with an unexpected event that gives rise to a mystery, this makes the intrigue the first thing that is present when the question of what is happening and why it is happening arrives, thus giving it a strong starting point, outside of The rest is average with moments of comedy and action that are fine, the first ones are much better than the second ones because the type of comedy that he manages is more remarkable, which is quite stupid and very funny. Finally, there is the recurring theme that discriminating is bad, that you have to get to know people before judging them and so on, which is fine although it is already something repetitive that is not really that new, in this same situation are the twists Nut that are not bad but if they feel somewhat rushed by the short duration of the film.
La trama da inicio con un suceso inesperado que da pie a un misterio, esto hace que la intriga sea lo primero que se haga presente al llegar la pregunta de qué está pasando y por qué está pasando dándole así un punto fuerte de inicio, fuera de ello lo demás es promedio con momentos de comedia y de acción que están bien, los primeros son mucho mejores que los segundos debido a que es más destacable el tipo de comedia que maneja la cual es bastante estúpida y muy divertida. Por último está el tema recurrente de que discriminar es malo, de que hay que conocer a la gente antes de juzgarla y demás, que está bien aunque ya es algo repetitivo que no tiene realmente mucho de novedoso, en esta misma situación se encuentran los giros de tuerca que no son malos pero si se sienten algo apresurados por la corta duración que posee el filme.
This is the most lacking points in the film, the protagonist has a great personality and has a lot to contribute: She is funny, has charisma, a certain sad undertone, and, in general, stands out a lot because she is nice and has a certain degree of depth, the problem is that nothing is done with it, if it is given these elements it is expected that something will be done with it but in the end it just throws everything away and its outcome feels unsatisfactory. Although Nimona is excellent, Balliser has good moments and a relationship with another gentleman could have been an interesting interaction, however nothing remarkable is done with it, in fact, most of this is not worked on but is expected by the spectator assumes many things which is a blunder, added that his partner does not work at any time and only remains as filler. The rest of the characters are just there without really representing any weight and this includes the antagonist who is also not interesting in any way, she is just a hopeless jerk.
Este es en los puntos de mayor carencia del filme, la protagonista tiene una gran personalidad y tiene mucho que aportar: Es graciosa, tiene carisma, cierto trasfondo triste, y, en general, destaca bastante porque es agradable y tiene cierto grado de profundidad, el problema es que no se hace nada con ello, sí se le da dichos elementos se espera que se haga algo con eso pero al final solo se echa todo por la borda y su desenlace se siente insatisfactorio. Si bien Nimona es excelente, Balliser tiene buenos momentos y una relación con otro caballero lo podría haber sido una interacción interesante, sin embargo no se hace nada destacable con ello, de hecho, la mayoría de esto no se trabaja sino que se espera que el espectador asuma muchas cosas lo que es un fallo garrafal, sumado que su pareja no se trabaja en ningún momento y solo queda como relleno. El resto de personajes solo están ahí sin realmente representar algo de peso y esto incluye al antagonista que tampoco es interesante bajo ningún concepto, solo es una imbécil sin remedio.
Nimona is an interesting proposal that mixes concepts that could have turned out better, such as something medieval-futuristic but unfortunately it doesn't know what it wants to become at the end of the day, although the focal point of the film changes with respect to how they develop the different mysteries do not feel that there is really an objective point at any time, if we add to this that most of the characters are forgettable there is not much that can be done. It is for all this that it deserves 3 stars out of 7, it is not the worst, it is not the best either, it is simply something a little different that can be interesting to see it once, it has many things and little time to develop them, so it would have been better that it come out as a series rather than a movie in order to have the time it required to do things better.
Nimona es una propuesta interesante que mezcla conceptos que podrían haber resultado de mejor forma como es algo medieval futurista pero desgraciadamente no sabe que quiere llegar a ser al final del día, si bien el punto focal del filme va cambiando con respecto a cómo se van desenvolviendo los diferentes misterios no se siente que haya realmente un punto objetivo en ningún momento, si a esto le sumamos que la mayoría de personajes son olvidables no hay mucho que se pueda hacer. Es por todo ello que merece 3 estrellas de 7, no es de lo peor tampoco es de lo mejor simplemente es algo un poco diferente que puede resultar interesante para verla una vez, tiene muchas cosas y poco tiempo para desarrollarlas por lo que hubiese sido mejor que saliese como una serie más que como una película para así tener el tiempo que requería para hacer las cosas de mejor forma.
