[Movie revie] [Eng | Esp] Insidious: Chapter 2 | Evil spirits continue to stalk
Welcome my dear horror loving internet travelers and thank you very much for having made a temporary stop in my post, a few days ago I made a review of the first film in the "Insidious" saga and as promised, today we are reunited with the second installment of said saga which brings with it more paranormal moments and strange things that happen to the well-known terrified family. Without further ado, prepare to face the paranormal again because we are about to begin.
Bienvenidos mis queridos viajeros del internet amantes del horror y muchas gracias por haber hecho una parada temporal en mi post, hace unos días hice una reseña sobre la primera película de la saga "Insidious" y como lo prometido es deuda hoy nos reúne la segunda entrega de dicha saga la cual trae consigo más momentos paranormales y cosas extrañas que le suceden a la conocida aterrada familia. Sin más que agregar prepárense para enfrentarse nuevamente a lo paranormal pues estamos por comenzar.
Insidious: Chapter 2 was released in 2013, directed by James Wan and produced by Blumhouse Productions, it is a direct sequel to Insidious, it has a duration of 1 hour and 45 minutes. It is a supernatural horror film, the story continues focusing on the lives of Josh and his family who are still dealing with everything that happened in the previous installment, although it seems that they are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel Renai is still there cautious as she has many doubts about everything that happened, all these insecurities begin to become stronger when strange things happen again in her mother-in-law's house and when her husband's behavior changes, finding themselves once again involved with evil spirits who want to take away the peace and life of their family.
Insidious: Chapter 2 fue estrenada en 2013, dirigida por James Wan y producida por Blumhouse Productions, es una secuela directa de Insidious, cuenta con una duración de 1 hora y 45 minutos. Es un filme de terror sobrenatural, la historia continúa enfocando las vidas de Josh y su familia los cuales aún se encuentran lidiando con todo lo sucedido en la anterior entrega, pese a que parece que están viendo la luz al final del túnel Renai aún se encuentra cautelosa al tener muchas dudas sobre todo lo ocurrido, todas estas inseguridades se comienzan a hacer más fuertes cuando vuelven a suceder cosas extrañas en la casa de su suegra y cuando el comportamiento de su esposo cambia, viéndose nuevamente involucrados con espíritus malignos que quieren arrebatarle la paz y la vida a su familia.

The soundtrack is not the most memorable thing there is, it serves as an accompaniment but broadly speaking it has nothing that makes it stand out from the rest of horror films.
La banda sonora no es lo más memorable que hay, cumple como acompañamiento pero a grandes rasgos no posee nada que la haga destacar del resto de filmes de terror.
The world-building is not expanded at any time, ergo, everything remains exactly the same as its predecessor left it, which only reflects its lack of innovation and an apathy to expand the setting. The use of settings also declines greatly because the use of shadows and figures to generate intrigue decreases considerably when compared to the previous installment, which makes the settings feel even more boring and without anything interesting to contribute.
La construcción de mundo no es ampliada en ningún momento, ergo, todo se mantiene exactamente igual que como lo dejo su predecesora lo que solo refleja su carencia de innovación y una apatía por expandir la ambientación. El uso de los escenarios también decae mucho debido a que el uso de sombras y figuras para generar intriga disminuye considerablemente si se le compara con la anterior entrega, lo que hace que los escenarios se sientan aún más aburridos y sin nada interesante que aportar.
The plot also suffers from feeling repetitive, the film changes some things although it limits itself to following the pattern already set by its predecessor without the desire to dare to do more, and, furthermore, it ends up even sinning by ignoring the good things that had already been achieved. The moments of tension are a good example of the above because those used feel dissonant and lack good development, there being an absence of that element of anticipation that makes the hair stand on end and keeps the viewer on alert. Lastly, there is its duration. It has almost the same amount of time as its predecessor, but not having anything new of interest makes the film feel dull and lacking anything that attracts attention.
La trama también peca de sentirse repetitiva, el filme cambia algunas cosas aunque se limita a seguir el patrón ya marcado por su antecesora sin ánimos de atreverse a más, y, además, termina incluso pecando de obviar las cosas buenas que ya se habían logrado. Los momentos de tensión son un buen ejemplo de lo anterior debido a que los que emplea se sienten disonantes y carentes de un buen desarrollo, habiendo una ausencia de ese elemento de anticipación que ponga los pelos de punta y mantenga en alerta al espectador. Por último está su duración, está posee casi la misma cantidad de tiempo que su predecesor pero al no tener nada nuevo de interés hace que la cinta se sienta sosa y con ausencia de algo que llame la atención.
There is not much to highlight here, the characters are exactly the same, in some moments it even seems that the events of the prequel did not affect them, which damages the concept of "traumatic event" that was previously attempted to be constructed. The characters that are added lack personality, and in some cases feel more like plot conveniences than characters themselves, which is completely terrible.
No hay mucho que destacar aquí, los personajes son exactamente los mismos, en algunos momentos incluso pareciese que los acontecimientos de la precuela no les afectaron lo que daña el concepto de "evento traumático" que se intentó construir previamente. Los personajes que se añaden carecen de personalidad, y, en algunos casos, se sienten más como conveniencias argumentales que como personajes en sí mismo, lo que es completamente terrible.
Insidious: Chapter 2 is a sequel with many shortcomings that mostly fails to innovate and tries to unsuccessfully replicate all the good things that its predecessor did, it had several elements that it could have used to enrich both its narrative and its world but decides to ignore them and reuse a formula that already worked without interest in moving forward. It is for all the above that it deserves 2 stars out of 7, it is a second installment that is already beginning to show wear and tear from doing exactly the same thing, so I hope that the installments that remain to be reviewed have learned from this setback and do not fall in the same place .
Insidious: Chapter 2 es una secuela con muchas carencias que peca en su mayoría de no innovar y de tratar de replicar sin éxito todas las buenas cosas que hizo su predecesora, tenía varios elementos que pudo haber empleado para enriquecer tanto su narrativa como su mundo pero decide obviarlos y reutilizar una fórmula que ya funcionó sin interés en avanzar. Es por todo lo anterior que merece 2 estrellas de 7, es una segunda entrega que ya comienza a presentar desgaste de hacer exactamente lo mismo por lo que espero que las entregas que quedan por reseñar hayan aprendido de este tropiezo y no caigan en el mismo sitio.
