[Movie review] [Eng | Esp] Equilibrium
Welcome my dear insensitive internet travelers and thank you very much for having made a temporary stop in my post, I like to review your recommendations because it is interesting not to know anything about a film apart from its name, the day brings us together a film that me recommended the friend @soltecno entitled "Equilibrium" which came with the premise of being a film with a high degree of violence and both a psychological and philosophical nuance. Without further ado, prepare to let go of your emotions because we are about to begin.
Bienvenidos mis queridos viajeros insensibles del internet y muchas gracias por haber hecho una parada temporal en mi post, me gusta reseñar recomendaciones de ustedes debido a que es interesante no saber nada de un filme aparte de su nombre, el día nos reúne una cinta que me recomendó el amigo @soltecno titulado "Equilibrium" la cual venía con la premisa de ser una película con alto grado de violencia y un matiz tanto psicológico como filosófico. Sin más que agregar prepárense para desprenderse de sus emociones pues estamos por comenzar.
Equilibrium was released in 2002, directed by Kurt Wimmer and produced by Dimension Films, it has a duration of 1 hour and 47 minutes. It is a dystopian action film, the story takes place in a world that is recovering after the 3rd world war, in order to prevent another war a new power rose to maintain peace, the point is that to achieve this it decides to eliminate all human emotions as well as prohibiting books, music, art and anything that can produce any emotion, those who break the rules will be executed without hesitation, the latter being what Clerick John Preston is dedicated to, who is entirely dedicated to punish the offenders, however, one day they begin to question if a life without emotions is really worth it and if the regime in which they live is really good, all this will begin a new path to travel.
Equilibrium fue estrenada en 2002, dirigida por Kurt Wimmer y producida por Dimension Films, cuenta con una duración de 1 hora y 47 minutos. Es un filme de acción distópica, la historia se desarrolla en un mundo que se encuentra recuperándose tras la 3ra guerra mundial, a fin de prevenir otra guerra un nuevo poder se alzó para mantener la paz, el asunto es que para conseguirlo decide eliminar todas las emociones humanas así como prohibir los libros, la música, el arte y todo aquel elemento que pueda producir alguna emoción, aquellos que rompan las reglas serán ejecutados sin vacilación, siendo a esto último a lo que se dedica Clerick John Preston quien está dedicado enteramente a castigar a los infractores, no obstante, un día comienza a cuestionarse si una vida sin emociones realmente vale la pena y si el régimen en el que viven es realmente bueno, todo esto dará inicio a un nuevo camino que recorrer.

The soundtrack is quite pleasant, on more than one occasion it serves as an ideal accompaniment for different situations of both tension and action, making this section quite good.
La banda sonora es bastante agradable, en más de una ocasión funge como un acompañamiento ideal para las diferentes situaciones tanto de tensión como de acción, haciendo de este apartado algo bastante bueno.
The construction of the world is quite amazing, from the beginning it knows how to generate its setting full of restrictions, authoritarianism and constant indoctrination that is in the form of repetitive propaganda, in this sense it reminds me a little of "1984" although there is no so many restrictions and surveillance if it manages to make that feeling of lack of freedom palpable. Looking at the social sphere it is quite interesting, proposing a society in which feelings do not exist is simply curious because these are something deeply rooted in human feelings, however, it is a topic that is only raised and not explored, it is shows a group that follows the regime without question and its opposition counterpart, the problem is that in order not to polarize it was necessary to explore both sides in order to enrich the social context as much as possible, this is not a huge mistake, but it would have been a huge success if it had been executed correctly.
La construcción del mundo es bastante alucinante, desde el vamos sabe generar de buena forma su ambientación plagada de restricciones, autoritarismo y un adoctrinamiento constante que se encuentra en forma de propaganda repetitiva, en este sentido me recuerda un poco a “1984” aunque no hay tantas restricciones y vigilancia si logra hacer palpable ese sentimiento de falta de libertad. De cara al ámbito social es bastante interesante, plantear una sociedad en la que no existen los sentimientos es sencillamente curioso debido a que estos son algo muy arraigado al sentir humano, no obstante, es un tema que solo se plantea y no es explorado, se muestra un colectivo que sigue al régimen sin rechistar y a su contraparte opositora, el problema es que para no polarizar hacía falta explorar ambas partes a fin de enriquecer lo más posible el contexto social, esto no es un error garrafal pero si hubiese sido un acierto enorme de haberlo ejecutado de la forma correcta.

Narratively it is good but it could have been better, the above is because the initial conflict about whether or not emotions are the problem in society is interesting and gives a touch of complexity to the film, the point is that from the beginning we do not leaves room to reflect on the topic because it only seeks to simplify the debate to good and bad when it could have been something much more complicated and grayscale, having been a more than interesting topic to drive the narrative, the fact that making use of some plot conveniences also takes away a bit in the end. I will rarely say this but I would have liked it to last longer, the film feels like it has the potential to develop better if it had the opportunity and delve into the aforementioned points, it would be excellent to see a series based on this film.
La trama resulta en una amalgama un poco extraña, lo anterior se debe a que intenta incorporar ciertos matices profundos en su premisa tales como la importancia del sentir, la privación de las aspiraciones y todo lo positivo y negativo que conllevan los sentimientos, el problema con esto último es que en más de una ocasión dicha construcción es interrumpida por escenas de acción, estas están muy bien y poseen coreografías de violencias altamente dinámicas, sin embargo, destruyen parcialmente todo ese tono serio que se intenta plasmar en un primer momento. Narrativamente está bien pero pudo ser mejor, lo anterior se debe a que el conflicto inicial sobre si las emociones son o no el problema en la sociedad se encuentra interesante y le da un toco de complejidad al filme, el asunto es que desde el vamos no deja espacio para reflexionar sobre el tema debido a que solo busca simplificar el debate a bueno y malo cuando podría haber sido algo mucho más complicado y de escala de grises, habiendo podido ser un tema más que interesante para impulsar la narrativa, el hecho de que haga uso de algunas conveniencias argumentales también le resta un poco al final de cuentas. Pocas veces diré esto pero me hubiese gustado que durase más, el filme se siente con potencial para desarrollarse de mejor forma si tuviese la oportunidad y ahondar en los puntos antes mencionados, sería excelente ver una serie basada en esta cinta.
The protagonist is somewhat curious, the film tries to make you empathize with and with his past, the problem is that the very premise of the film makes this difficult because the character himself feels a clear apathy towards these tragic events. On the other hand, there is the supposed catharsis. What this goes through is that it feels empty because the character does not have enough time for said redemption to really be palpable, the intention with the character is clear but the execution is quite poor. The rest of the characters are at best irrelevant, and at worst, they are quite big inconsistencies since some have ambitions (which is illogical since they are not supposed to have feelings) and others are directly plot drivers with legs.
El protagonista es algo curioso, la cinta intenta que empatices con y con su pasado, el problema es que la misma premisa del filme dificulta esto debido a que el propio personaje siente una clara apatía por dichos sucesos trágicos, por otro lado, existe la supuesta catarsis que este atraviesa que se siente vacía debido a que el personaje no tiene suficiente tiempo como para que realmente sea palpable dicha redención, la intención con el personaje es clara pero la ejecución es bastante pobre. El resto de personajes son en el mejor de los casos irrelevantes, y, en los peores, son unas incongruencias bastante grandes puesto que algunos tienen ambiciones (Cosa ilógica ya que se supone que no tienen sentimientos) y otros directamente son impulsadores de trama con patas.
Equilibrium has a quite interesting concept in its hands and with it creates a dystopia that is attractive, the problem is that the various themes it touches on need more time to be explored and that these can truly lead the viewer to reflect because as such As they are only curious at best, the action is fine although for the purposes of developing the premise it would have been a good idea to reduce their appearance and focus more on what was previously mentioned. It is for all of the above that it deserves 4 stars out of 7, although it has some shortcomings in terms of writing and development, it is very interesting for everything it contains, especially the way in which it builds its world, which is why I recommend that you give it a chance.
Equilibrium tiene en sus manos un concepto bastante interesante y con ello crea una distopía que resulta atractiva, el problema es que los diversos temas que toca necesitan más tiempo para ser explorados y que estos verdaderamente puedan llevar a la reflexión al espectador debido a que tal y como están solo resultan curiosos en el mejor de los casos, la acción está bien aunque para efectos de desarrollo de la premisa hubiese sido un acierto reducir la aparición de estos y centrarse más en lo previamente mencionado. Es por todo lo anterior que merece 4 estrellas de 7, si bien tiene algunas carencias en cuanto a escritura y desarrollo es muy interesante por todo lo que alberga, sobre todo la forma en que construye su mundo, es por ello que les recomiendo que le den una oportunidad.

Gracias por tomar en cuenta la sugerencia. La trama de la película, si alcanzaba para una mejor y más profunda historia.
La idea de que en ese universo pudo tener algo de sentido para "El Padre" de eliminar las emociones, termino por corromperse y convertirse en un método de alinear a la sociedad y usurpar el poder.
Estoy bastante seguro de que tenga usted razón y con algo más de duración y orientando de forma correcta la trama, la película podía llegar a ser mucho mejor.
Siempre reseñare con gusto algo que vos me recomiendes, sueles tener buen ojo para las series y películas, el único problema que tengo a veces es el encontrar donde verlas jajaja.
