[Movie review] [Eng | Esp] El Hoyo
Welcome my dear internet hungry travelers and thank you very much for having made a temporary stop in my post, for some time now I have wanted to see the film "El Hoyo" because I had seen several reviews of it and even my mother saw it in his moment saying that it was something strong that he couldn't finish watching, this whole set of elements made me put it on my to-watch list and today I finally decided to see it and review it for you. Without further ado, prepare to wait for leftovers because we are about to begin.
Bienvenidos mis queridos viajeros hambrientos del internet y muchas gracias por haber hecho una parada temporal en mi post, desde hace un tiempo he querido ver el filme "El Hoyo" debido a que había visto varias reseñas de la misma e incluso mi madre la vio en su momento diciendo que era algo fuerte que no pudo terminar de ver, todo este conjunto de elementos hicieron que la pusiera en mi lista de pendientes y hoy por fin me decidí a verla y a reseñarla para ustedes. Sin más que agregar prepárense para esperar las sobras pues estamos por comenzar.
El Hoyo was released in 2019, directed by Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia, produced by Basque Films, Mr Miyagi Films, among others, and has a duration of 1 hour and 34 minutes. It is a suspense and science fiction film, the story focuses on a kind of futuristic prison in which there are an unknown number of floors, for each floor there will be 2 individuals, the point is that the food goes down floor by floor, ergo , the higher up you are, the more guaranteed you will be able to eat, this place will have no qualms about raising the debate with its residents between thinking about those below them and their own well-being, this predicament will be the one that the protagonist has when he experiences the different lifestyles that this horrible place has to offer.
El Hoyo fue estrenada en 2019, dirigida por Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia, producida por Basque Films, Mr Miyagi Films, entre otras, cuenta con una duración de 1 hora y 34 minutos. Es un filme de suspenso y ciencia ficción, la historia se centra en una especie de prisión futurista en la cual hay una cantidad desconocida de pisos, por cada piso habrá 2 individuos, el asunto está en que la comida va bajando piso por piso, ergo, mientras más arriba estés más garantías de comer tendrás, este lugar no tendrá escrúpulos para plantear el debate a sus residentes entre pensar en los que están debajo de ellos y en su propio bienestar, este predicamento será el que tenga el protagonista cuando experimente los diferentes estilos de vida que este hórrido lugar tiene para ofrecer.

The soundtrack is generally good, it is constantly present and contributes decently to the different scenes, it is not spectacular but it does its job.
La banda sonora está bien a rasgos generales, se encuentra presente de forma constante y aporta de forma decente a las diferencias escenas, no es espectacular pero cumple con su labor.
The construction of the world is somewhat curious, absolutely all the rooms are almost entirely the same, the only difference being the altitude at which it is located, this small detail makes the meaning of it and even the behavior of the people change considerably. , this gives great importance to said element and the film lets us know it directly. The way in which individuals behave is very interesting and seems to have some parallels with the Stanford prison experiment (I recommend looking for it when you finish reading my publication, it is very interesting) because the status, in this case determined by How high they are determines their behavior, in turn, at a lower level, the more savage and dangerous people become because they will do anything to ensure their survival, including resorting to cannibalism.
La construcción del mundo es algo curiosa, absolutamente todas las habitaciones son casi en su totalidad iguales, siendo la única diferencia la altitud en la que se ubica, este pequeño detalle hace que el significado de la misma e incluso el comportamiento de las personas cambien considerablemente, esto le da una gran importancia a dicho elemento y el filme lo deja saber de forma directa. La forma en que se comportan los individuos es muy interesante y parece tener cierto paralelismo con el experimento de la cárcel de Stanford (Les recomiendo buscarlo cuando terminen de leer mi publicación, es muy interesante) debido a que el estatus, en este caso determinado por qué tan alto se encuentran, condiciona su comportamiento, a su vez, a menor nivel más salvajes y peligrosas se vuelven las personas debido a que harán cualquier cosa para asegurar su supervivencia, incluso recurrir al canibalismo.
The plot is indigestible on more than one occasion, the interest of the premise lies in seeing how people do the most unspeakable things due to hunger and the desire for survival, coupled with that, there is always a certain level of mystery and intrigue that are not the most spectacular but they are pleasant. Narratively it is curious, the film seeks to be a social criticism based on its premise, it focuses on the fact that if we all consume what is fair and necessary it will be enough for everyone (It sounds somewhat communist, but oh well) the issue is that said message falls apart to pieces for 2 reasons: 1) The film itself makes it clear that despite this, not everyone will be able to eat. 2) At a point of lowness, people murder each other or commit suicide, they are never given any kind of hope, so the concept as such ends up being absurd, its open ending does not fully consolidate its ideas either. It helps in no way, ergo, more than a social criticism it is only a carnage due to the little information that is given as such. The length is not exaggerated and the film does not feel tedious, although there are few, some information is given that allows one to become interested in the background of the site, and, added to the grotesque moments, it is not boring at any time.
La trama es indigesta en más de una ocasión, el interés de la premisa radica en ver cómo las personas hacen las cosas más inenarrables debido al hambre y al deseo de supervivencia, aunado a eso, siempre existe cierto nivel de misterio e intriga que no son los más espectaculares pero son agradables. Narrativamente es curiosa, el filme busca ser una crítica social con base en su premisa, la misma se enfoca en que si todos consumimos lo justo y necesario alcanzará para todos (Suena algo medio comunista, pero bueno) el asunto es que dicho mensaje se cae a pedazos por 2 motivos: 1) El propio filme deja claro que pese a ello no todos podrán comer. 2) Llegado un punto de bajeza las personas se asesinan entre si o se suicidan, nunca se les da de ninguna forma alguna clase de esperanza por lo que el concepto como tal termina siendo absurdo, su final abierto que no termina de consolidar sus ideas tampoco ayuda de ninguna forma, ergo, más que una crítica social solo es una carnicería debido a la poca información que se da como tal. La duración no es exagerada y la cinta no se siente tediosa, pese a que sean pocos se van dando algunos datos que permiten interesarse por el trasfondo del sitio, y, sumado a los momentos grotescos, no es aburrida en ningún momento.
There really isn't much to highlight, many of the characters are charismatic but nothing more apart from that, the protagonist has a greater focus in this sense as the film tries to show his psychological decline, although this has no major importance so it remains as something added without further ado.
Realmente no hay mucho que destacar, muchos de los personajes son carismáticos pero nada más fuera de ello, el protagonista tiene un mayor foco en este sentido, el filme intenta ir mostrando su declive psicológico, aunque esto no tiene mayor importancia por lo que queda como algo añadido sin más.
El Hoyo is a film with an abundant amount of unpleasant moments that seek to represent how low human beings are willing to go in order to survive, its supposed social criticism is a joke that contradicts itself on several occasions, so it really is not truly something important or notable, what could stand out is the way in which it raises the ease of conditioning human behavior, which is interesting. It is for all of the above that it deserves 3.5 stars out of 7. If this film makes anything clear to me, it is that the Spanish know how to do things that cause repulsion, recommended only for those with a strong stomach.
El Hoyo es un filme con una cantidad abundante de momentos desagradables que buscan representar que tan bajo está dispuesto a llegar el ser humano con tal de sobrevivir, su supuesta crítica social es un chiste que se contradice en varias ocasiones, por lo que realmente no es verdaderamente algo importante o destacable, lo que sí podría destacar es la forma en que plantea la facilidad de condicionar el comportamiento humano lo que sí resulta interesante. Es por todo lo anterior que merece 3.5 estrellas de 7, si algo me deja claro este filme es que los españoles saben hacer cosas que causen repulsión, recomendada solo para aquellos de estómago fuerte.

A mi me encanto es ta pelicula, esta entre mis favoritas, por supuesto es un poco vamos a decirle repulsiva, pero es el tipo de pelicula que retrata a la sociedad en un segundo sentido y con finales para la libre interpretacion.

Una película bastante cruda pero me confundió bastante al final no sé si va a haber una segunda parte.
Diría que su final es una alegoría a la religión cristiana debido a adquirir consciencia y demás, finalizan con la expulsión definitiva del paraíso, aunque es algo bizarro a lo que no hay que buscarle mucha lógica.
