[Movie review] [Eng | Esp] Hidden Figures
Welcome my dear discriminated travelers of the internet and thank you very much for having made a temporary stop in my post, reality always surpasses fiction, that is why I like to watch films that are based on real events, especially if they narrate events important things like space travel, it is for that reason that the film “Hidden Figures” which captures many important transitions of women of color during these events that this film caught my attention. Without further ado, prepare to do a lot of calculations because we are about to begin.
Bienvenidos mis queridos viajeros discriminados del internet y muchas gracias por haber hecho una parada temporal en mi post, la realidad siempre supera a la ficción, es por ello que me gusta ver filmes que se encuentren basados en hechos reales, sobre todo si estos narran acontecimientos importantes como los viajes espaciales, es por esa razón que la cinta “Hidden Figures” la cual plasma muchas transiciones importantes de mujeres de color durante dichos sucesos que la presente película llamó mi atención. Sin más que agregar prepárense para hacer muchos cálculos pues estamos por comenzar.
Hidden Figures was released in 2016, based on the book of the same name written by Margot Lee Shetterly, directed by Theodore Melfi, produced by 20th Century Studios, Chernin Entertainment, among others, and has a duration of 2 hours and 7 minutes. It is a biographical film, the story focuses on 3 women of color named Katherine, Dorothy and Mary during the 60s, who work for NASA doing various mathematical operations, however, they all have enough potential for something beyond just serve as human calculators, the point is that with the space race these women must demonstrate that their gender and skin color does not limit them to stand out in various areas as crucial elements for the correct performance of the space mission.
Hidden Figures fue estrenada en 2016, basada en el libro homónimo escrito por Margot Lee Shetterly, dirigida por Theodore Melfi, producida por 20th Century Studios, Chernin Entertainment, entre otros, cuenta con una duración de 2 horas y 7 minutos. Es un filme biográfico, la historia se centra en 3 mujeres de color llamadas Katherine, Dorothy y Mary durabte los años 60, las cuales trabajan para la nasa haciendo diversas operaciones matemáticas, sin embargo, todas tienen el potencial suficiente para algo más allá que solo fungir como calculadoras humanas, el asunto es que con la carrera espacial estás mujeres deben demostrar que su género y color de piel no les limita para destacar en diversas áreas como elementos cruciales para un correcto desempeño de la misión espacial.

The soundtrack is not a relevant element nor does it fulfill any kind of interesting function, it is present but not something that really matters.
La banda sonora no es un elemento relevante ni cumple ninguna clase de función interesante, está presente más no es algo que verdaderamente importe.
The construction of the world is accurate, the society it proposes is very well exemplified because it shows evidence of a considerable level of discrimination, this is not only seen in various elements of its scenery, but with the collective thinking about various elements, everything This makes the context truly transport the viewer to those times of transition and injustice.
La construcción del mundo es acertada, la sociedad que plantea se encuentra muy bien ejemplificada debido a que muestra evidencias de un nivel considerable de discriminación, esto no solo se aprecia en diversos elementos de su escenografía, sino con el pensamiento colectivo sobre diversos elementos, todo esto hace que realmente el contexto transporte al espectador a esos tiempos de transición e injusticia.
The plot shows different angles of the same event, throughout the film you can see how each of the protagonists is fighting their own battles to show that they are more capable than they think, all of this is pleasant because each one of his stories complements the premise nicely. Narratively it is fine, although it develops various stories in parallel, it knows how to do it in the right way so that none of them feel untidy or disordered, and in the end they all complement each other in one way or another so that as a whole it is well crafted. The duration may seem a bit long, however, it is the time necessary to be able to work correctly on all its content, at the same time, the fact that all the protagonists have to face injustice and discrimination in one way or another. It makes the film more interesting.
La trama muestra diferentes ángulos de un mismo acontecimiento, a lo largo del filme se puede ver como cada una de las protagonistas se encuentra luchando sus propias batallas para demostrar que son más capaces de lo que piensan, todo esto resulta agradable debido a que cada una de sus historias complementa la premisa de forma agradable. Narrativamente está bien, pese a que desarrolle paralelamente diversas historias sabe hacerlo de la forma correcta para que ninguna se sienta desaliñada o desordenada, siendo que al final todas se complementan de una u otra forma para que como un todo se encuentre bien trabajada. La duración puede parecer un poco extensa, sin embargo, es el tiempo necesario para poder trabajar de forma correcta todo su contenido, a su vez, el hecho de que todas las protagonistas tengan que enfrentarse de una u otra forma a la injusticia y a la discriminación hace al filme más interesante.
The characters do a good job both individually and because of the fight they face, the 3 protagonists have a good development because they show different facets related to their fight and the pursuit of their objectives, this whole group being what makes them feel very human qualities and a well-executed representation of the experiences of these people, all of which makes it possible to empathize with them since they have a good job that makes them feel real.
Los personajes tienen un buen trabajo tanto individualmente como por la lucha que afrontan, las 3 protagonistas tienen un buen desarrollo debido a que muestran diferentes facetas relacionadas con su lucha y con la persecución de sus objetivos, siendo todo ese conjunto lo que las hace sentir muy humanas y una representación bien ejecutada de las vivencias de esas personas, todo ello hace que se pueda empatizar con ellas puesto que tienen un buen trabajo que las hace sentir reales.
Hidden Figures tells a piece of American space history added to the various struggles that the women of color who were involved had to fight and who were crucial pieces for everything to go as expected, all these elements make it pleasant to see and even that gives satisfaction to the achievements that the protagonists are achieving. It is for all the above that it deserves 4 stars out of 7, a highly recommended film if you want to see a part of the space race, and, more importantly, the amount of extra effort that some people had to make to earn a well-deserved place in the project .
Hidden Figures cuenta un pedazo de la historia espacial estadounidense sumado a las diversas luchas que debieron librar las mujeres de color que se vieron involucradas y que fueron piezas cruciales para que todo saliera según lo esperado, todos estos elementos hacen que sea agradable de ver e incluso que dé satisfacción los logros que van cosechando las protagonistas. Es por todo lo anterior que merece 4 estrellas de 7, un filme muy recomendado si quieres ver una parte de la carrera espacial, y, más importante, la cantidad de esfuerzo extra que algunas personas tuvieron que hacer para ganarse un merecido lugar en el proyecto.

Es alentador ver que se van descubriendo más las historias de personas, que han colaborado para hacer realidad hazañas de nuestra civilización.
Ir más allá de las absurdas discriminaciones y lograr salir adelante, si es un tema digno de aplaudir, celebro que se hagan más libros y filmes sobre el tema.
Siempre apoyaré todo tipo de historias originales que tengan personas de etnias diversas, esto si es una representación justa de la diversidad y es digno de ver porque no repintaron un personaje ya conocido, es por ello que la recomiendo.
