[Movie review] [Eng | Esp] From Black | Rituals never go well
Welcome my dear dark travelers of the internet and thank you very much for having made a temporary stop in my post, before Halloween I put several horror movies on my watch list, the thing is that I thought I had seen all the ones I wrote down but today I realized Realizing that I had the film "From Black" pending, because of this I decided to get to work and finish what I had started. Without further ado, prepare to perform evil rites because we are about to begin.
Bienvenidos mis queridos oscuros viajeros del internet y muchas gracias por haber hecho una parada temporal en mi post, antes de halloween puse varias películas de terror en mi lista de pendientes, el asunto es que pensé que había visto todas las que anote pero hoy me di cuenta de que me quedó pendiente el filme "From Black" debido a esto decidí ponerme manos a la obra y finalizar lo que había empezado. Sin más que agregar prepárense para hacer ritos malignos pues estamos por comenzar.
From Black was released this year, directed by Thomas Marchese, produced by Darkroom Films & K7 Entertainment, and has a duration of 1 hour and 50 minutes. It is a horror film, the story focuses on a former drug addict named Cora who feels deep regret because when she was addicted her only son disappeared without a trace, this guilt was what made her give up her vices but this was not enough to stop feeling regret, which is why she sought support from people experiencing the same thing, this being where she was presented with the opportunity to pay a high and dark price to get her child back.
From Black fue estrenada este año, dirigida por Thomas Marchese, producida por Darkroom Films & K7 Entertainment, cuenta con una duración de 1 hora y 50 minutos. Es un filme de terror, la historia se centra en una ex drogadicta llamada Cora la cual siente un profundo arrepentimiento debido a que cuando era adicta su único hijo desapareció sin dejar rastro, está culpa fue la que hizo que dejase sus vicios pero esto no fue suficiente como para dejar de sentir arrepentimiento, es por ello que buscó apoyo con personas que experimentando lo mismo, siendo en este sitio donde se le presenta la oportunidad de pagar un alto y oscuro precio para recuperar a su niño.

The soundtrack is completely generic and is used to try to incorporate that feeling of intrigue into the film, the problem with the latter is that there is not really any intriguing moment to accompany, leaving this section as nonsense.
La banda sonora es completamente genérica y es utilizada para tratar de incorporar ese sentimiento de intriga al filme, el problema con esto último es que no existe realmente ningún momento intrigante al cual acompañar, dejando este apartado como un despropósito.
The world-building is quite inconsequential because there is not really an attempt to generate a moderately frightening atmosphere, although the scenery maintains a gloomy tone and with a great absence of light this does not have even a decent use so it ends up being wasted .
La construcción de mundo es bastante intrascendente debido a que no existe realmente un intento por generar una ambientación medianamente atemorizante, si bien la escenografía mantiene un tono lúgubre y con gran ausencia de luz esto no tiene un uso tan siquiera decente por lo que termina siendo desaprovechado.
The plot focuses on a fairly common theme but which, despite this, can give a lot of play, such as the loss of a loved one. The problem with this is that it works on it in a horrible way to the point that it becomes very tedious since it does not It incorporates good scary moments as well as extremely depressive moments to make the protagonist's pain palpable. Narratively it is a disaster, it is not made clear what the objective of the film is until very late in the film, and its final outcome is also explained in a terrible way, making both the film and its ending even more unsatisfactory. The length is an exaggeration for the little content it has, this is reflected in the repetition of scenes with almost no changes and that do not really end up providing anything other than boredom.
La trama se centra en un tema bastante común pero que pese a ello puede dar mucho juego como lo es la pérdida de un ser querido, el problema con esto es que lo trabaja de forma horrible al punto de que se torna muy tediosa puesto que no incorpora buenos momentos de miedo ni tampoco momentos sumamente depresivos para hacer palpable el dolor de la protagonista. Narrativamente es un desastre, no se deja claro cuál es el objetivo del filme hasta muy avanzada la película, siendo además que su desenlace final es explicado de forma terrible haciendo aún más insatisfactorio tanto el filme como su final. La duración es una exageración para el poco contenido que tiene, esto se ve reflejado en la repetición de escenas con casi ningún cambio y que no terminan aportando realmente nada más que aburrimiento.
This is the most wasted section, the protagonist had many elements that could have given her a certain degree of interest and even depth, however this is not used in any way at any time so it is more wasted potential, the rest of the characters follow that disastrous example.
Este es el apartado más desaprovechado, la protagonista tenía muchos elementos que podían haberle dado cierto grado de interés e incluso profundidad, no obstante esto no es utilizado de ninguna forma en ningún momento por lo que es más potencial desaprovechado, el resto de personajes siguen ese nefasto ejemplo.
From Black makes use of one of the most recurring themes within the horror genre: rituals to invoke evil entities, however it does so in such a horrible way that it serves more as a sleeping pill than as a source of fear, the most notable thing that What it manages to do is show scenes that produce more disgust than terror, which is completely disastrous. It is for all of the above that it deserves 1 star out of 7, a film that is not worth it and that without a doubt nothing would have happened if I had not seen it.
From Black hace uso de uno de los temas más recurrentes dentro del género del terror coo son los rituales para invocar entidades malignas, no obstante lo hace de una forma tan horrible que sirve más como somnífero que como una fuente de miedo, lo más destacable que logra hacer es mostrar escenas que producen más asco que terror lo que es completamente nefasto. Es por todo lo anterior que merece 1 estrella de 7, una película que no vale la pena y que sin lugar a dudas no habría pasado nada si no la veía.

A veces uno se suele chasquear con las películas de terror, lo mínimo que se espera es que genere suspenso o algo similar, pero parece que no fue el caso de esta.
No la conocía, pero me divertí leyendo tu reseña, sobre todo cuando llegue a la parte del puntaje. Para darle número debió de haber sido terrible de ver jajaja. Saludos!
Desgraciadamente me encuentro curtido de toparme con todo tipo de bodrios pseudo terroríficos, en más de una ocasión he mencionado que considero que es uno de los géneros más difíciles de desarrollar sobre todo si no se quiere recurrir a los sustos fáciles; si le echas un vistazo a mis últimos post notarás que hay varios sobre películas de terror y en su mayoría sacan un puntaje bajo.
