[Movie review] [Eng | Esp] Mirrors | The reflex can be dangerous
Welcome dear travelers from the internet afraid of mirrors and thank you very much for having made a temporary stop in another of my post, a while ago I wrote a horror story based on a nightmare that I had, to my surprise the nice traveler @soltecno mentions in that post that there is a suspense movie very similar to what I experienced so I had it on my list of earrings until today, as you will know I love suspense films and terror for what is a suggestion. With nothing more to add, worry that high eioptrophobia adventure is about to begin.
Bienvenidos queridos viajeros del internet temerosos de los espejos y muchas gracias por haber hecho una parada temporal en otro de mis post, hace un tiempo escribí una historia de terror basada en una pesadilla que tuve, para mi sorpresa el agradable viajero @soltecno menciona en ese post que hay una película de suspenso muy parecida a lo que experimenté por lo que la tuve en mi lista de pendientes hasta el día de hoy, como sabrán me encantan los filmes de suspenso y terror por lo que está sugerencia era imperdible. Sin más que agregar prepárense que esa aventura con alta eisoptrofobia está por comenzar.
Mirrors was released in 2008, is based on the Korean film "Geoul Sokeuro" released in 2003, the film was directed by Alexandre Aja and produced by 20th Century Fox, has a duration of 1 hour and 50 minutes. It is a horror and suspense movie, the story revolves around a former policeman named Ben who is struggling with alcoholism and dealing with separation from his wife, trying to redirect his life decides to look for a new job, gets one as a watchman in a building which caught fire and is now abandoned, The thing is that this building with such bad vibes has a murky history behind which is told through its chilling mirrors.
Mirrors fue estrenada en 2008, está basada en la cinta coreana "Geoul Sokeuro" estrenada en 2003, el filme fue dirigido por Alexandre Aja y producida por 20th Century Fox, cuenta con una duración de 1 hora y 50 minutos. Es una película de terror y suspenso, la historia gira en torno a un ex policía llamado Ben quién se encuentra luchando contra el alcoholismo y lidiando con la separación de su esposa, tratando de redireccionar su vida decide buscar un nuevo empleo, consigue uno como vigilante en un edificio el cual se incendió y ahora se encuentra abandonado, el asunto es que este edificio con tan malas vibras tiene una turbia historia detrás la cual se cuenta a través de sus escalofriantes espejos.

The soundtrack is nice, it complies with its task of creating a good environment conducive to the suspense which is present in most of the film being a good accompaniment more than I agreed with that atmosphere of tension.
La banda sonora es agradable, cumple con su cometido de generar un buen ambiente propicio para el suspenso el cual se encuentra presente en la mayor parte del filme siendo un buen acompañamiento más que acordé con ese ambiente de tensión.
The construction of the world is quite simple, it presents a good amount of dark scenarios being these in which there is a greater level of tension and suspense, however the greatest achievement of the context is the fact that it makes a common object potentially dangerous making it acquire importance and be a crucial element for the plot. Outside of that the context is quite normal with small nuances of interest that do not make it terrible but also not something wonderful, a decent middle ground.
La construcción de mundo es bastante simple, presenta una buena cantidad de escenarios oscuros siendo estos en los que hay mayor nivel de tensión y suspenso, sin embargo el mayor logro del contexto es el hecho de que hace que un objeto común sea potencialmente peligroso haciendo que este adquiera importancia y sea un elemento crucial para la trama. Fuera de ello el contexto es bastante normal con pequeños matices de interés que no lo hacen terrible pero tampoco algo maravilloso, un punto medio decente.
The plot is not especially complex, although the moments of suspense are quite pleasant and well achieved mostly, in fact I could even argue that it has one more point in its favor due to the fact that it manages to transmit the pannonia through the mirrors to the viewer making this simple object generate tension, added to the fact that it maintains a good level of grotesque scenes that give it greater interest. The point is that this narrative style of suspense and terror is maintained for much of the film, giving few explanations and simply keeping many things unexplored, however this changes to try to add data and a resolution that feels forced, out of place and strange since it adds moments of action that feel very dissonant with what was previously established; This includes its ending that is honestly absurd, out of place and inorganic, being that this tendency to introduce more moments of action and inconsistent are undermining the good narrative that was being worked on.
La trama no es especialmente compleja, si bien los momentos de suspenso son bastante agradables y bien logrados en su mayoría, de hecho hasta podría argumentar que tiene un punto más a su favor por el hecho de que consigue transmitir la panonia por los espejos al espectador haciendo que este simple objeto genera tensión, sumado el hecho de que mantiene un buen nivel de escenas grotescas que le dan mayor interés. El asunto es que este estilo narrativo de suspenso y terror se mantiene por gran parte del filme, dando pocas explicaciones y sencillamente manteniendo muchas cosas sin explorar, sin embargo esto cambia para tratar de agregarle datos y una resolución que se siente forzada, fuera de lugar y extraña puesto que añade momentos de acción que se sienten muy disonantes con lo previamente establecido; esto incluye su final que sinceramente es absurdo, fuera de lugar e inorgánico, siendo que esta tendencia por introducir más momentos de acción e inconsistentes van socavando la buena narrativa que se venía trabajando.
The protagonist is the only one that turns out to be interesting being that the rest are only a complement to this, it is assumed that these have to give him a psychological background by providing the elements that make it deeper, this is fulfilled to some extent since the protagonist if he manages to move forward for a while the plot; The problem arises when the character stops feeling human, being that those feelings that make him stand out are lost to give way to the typical protagonist of an action film wasting all that psychological load that had been achieved. In conclusion, the protagonist is not bad but if he stays half-hearted by first showing a certain emotional charge with which it was easy to empathize and then slowly becoming someone less expressive and interesting.
El protagonista es el único que resulta ser interesante siendo que el resto solo son un complemento de este, se supone que estos tienen que darle un trasfondo psicológico al proporcionar los elementos que lo hagan más profundo, esto se cumple hasta cierto punto puesto que el protagonista si logra sacar adelante por un tiempo la trama; el problema nace cuando el personaje deja de sentirse humano, siendo que esos sentimientos que lo hacen destacar se van perdiendo para darle paso al típico protagonista de un filme de acción desperdiciando toda esa carga psicológica que se había conseguido. En conclusión el protagonista no es malo pero si se queda a medias tintas al mostrar primero cierta carga emocional con la que era fácil empatizar para después irse volviendo lentamente en alguien menos expresivo e interesante.
Mirrors results in a curious tape since it manages to maintain interest until you get to see the resolution of the initial problem, the issue is that as the plot goes on the film feels the need to give boring explanations that are not relevant and end up detracting from the value of the tape. It is for all the above that it only gets 3 stars out of 7, an interesting concept that unfortunately is degrading and losing the direction that made the story remarkable at first.
Mirrors resulta en una cinta curiosa puesto que logra mantener el interés hasta llegar a ver la resolución de la problemática inicial, el asunto es que conforme transcurre la trama el filme siente la necesidad de dar explicaciones aburridas que no vienen al caso y terminan restándole valor a la cinta. Es por todo lo anterior que solo obtiene 3 estrellas de 7, un concepto interesante que desgraciadamente se va degradando y perdiendo el rumbo que hizo a la historia destacable en un primer momento.

I didn't remember this movie, it was when I saw the picture of Kiefer Shuterland that I remembered I saw it a long time ago. I had completely forgotten it, I think I didn't like it very much and that's why I didn't remember it. It's an American remake of an Asian movie, that's the problem, I'm sure the original is better.
I found out that it was a remake when I am looking for the information to see the synopsis, it is possible that the original film has much more to offer than this so I do not rule out seeing it in the near future. Saludos, muchas gracias por la mención. Las pesadillas que pase por esta película. Cuando tuve un tiempo libre, busque sobre el tema y profundice en el asunto. Específicamente, de cuando las personas que se toman fotos frente o junto a un espejo y el reflejo fotografiado, está en una posición o actitud diferente a la persona.
No sé cómo se llama el fenómeno, pero es escalofriante. Ha sido una reseña interesante.
Lees muchas de mis reseñas por lo que obviamente tomaré tu opinión en cuenta, aun tengo algunas más que recomendaste pendientes pero poco a poco jajaja. Para ser honesto me sorprendió que hubiese personas que hayan tenido una idea similar con la idea de mi historia, la misma sigue un patrón diferente pero en rasgos generales el concepto vendría originandose de forma similar, un filme interesante con todas las de la ley.
