Themes, Characters & Direction

What makes The Death of Snow White special is the way it talks about real-life problems, like dealing with grief, finding your true self, and breaking free from what others expect you to be. Snow White is not a sweet, innocent girl anymore she is strong, but also broken inside. Anya Taylor-Joy does a great job showing both her strength and sadness.

Florence Pugh adds energy and fun to the movie as Lys the witch, while Paul Mescal plays the quiet hunter with a lot of emotion. The most interesting character might be the magic mirror, which is not just a mirror but a living voice (spoken by Cate Blanchett) that speaks like a spooky guide.

The director, Sofia Alvarez, gives the film a sad and beautiful look. The snowy forests, old castles, and dark caves make the movie feel like a dream or sometimes, a nightmare. The music is slow and haunting, and it matches the movie’s emotional tone perfectly.

Final Thoughts

I watched The Death of Snow White on Netflix, and it really touched me. This is not the fairy tale we all grew up with it’s a powerful story about truth, pain, and finding who you really are.
