From Delay Discovery To Movie Magic: My Journey With Kingsman: The Golden Circle

I know this might sound weird, but I'm still going to say it anyway. Have you ever been in a public place- a bus or any other public place and you happen to catch a glimpse of a movie that someone is watching and when you get home, somehow, you find yourself scrolling through the internet and finding that same movie? Weird, isn't it? It's just as if the universe has a way of making things happen.

A few years ago, my close friend who lives next door told me about a particular movie. He did not narrate the movie in full detail, he only talked about a particular scene. He stressed on a particular song- apparently, the song made him fall in love with the movie and the part where he sang the song is his favorite scene. The song goes thus; west Virginia country mama, take me home to the place where I belong. He taught me the song well, and I fell in love with the movie even before seeing it. He couldn't remember the title of the movie, so I couldn't download it. The last time we (my friend and I) spoke about this particular movie was about 3 years ago.

Just yesterday, my sister was watching a movie on her phone. I was busy doing something else on my phone until that same song from 3 years ago started playing. It was as if I was experiencing DeJa Vu. Finally, THE KINGSMAN! The movie that I’ve been desperately searching for. It was as if the universe wanted me to watch you. I didn’t waste any time. I went online and downloaded it- Kingsman- The Golden Circle.

The first thing that gets my attention in a movie are the characters. When a movie stars my favorite characters, I tend to stay glued to it. One of my favorite characters in Kingsman- The Golden Circle is Channing Tatum. However, he was introduced after about 30 minutes into the movie. He starred as “Agent Tequila” for an undercover agency- statesman.

The Kingsman- The Golden Circle is a spy action movie that explores interesting themes such as global cooperation and the dangers of drug abuse. I find it amusing when movie writers pinch a bit of comedy to their works. Even in tragic movies, adding a comic scene is vital as it helps create comic relief. This movie is a spy action movie, however, there are elements of comedy in it.

The movie follows Poppy Adams, the villain/main antagonist (Julianne Moore), a big time drug producer and psychopath who would go to any extent to make sure her business gets legalized. Poppy Adams has been running her business- producing different kinds of drugs; Marijuana, Cannabis, Cocaine, to mention a few. At one point, she got tired of running her business undercover. To take over the world and make herself known, she pulls off the biggest crime. She creates a drug that gives people initial happy moments. The drug is highly addictive and can lead to death in a specified period of time. Poppy bids with the president of the United States to either legalize her business and get an antidote or to watch his citizens die.

To prevent the death of citizens , two secret organizations- Kingsman and Statesmen must work together. Taron Egerton, Colin Firth, and Mark Strong are agents of the Kingsman organization while Channing Tatum, Jeff Bridges, and Pedro Pascal worked for the Statesman. With their joint forces, they took over Poppy Adams and her organization.

MY COMMENTS

One amazing thing about this movie is the use of plot twists. I'm sure you love it when a movie takes an interesting turn and you keep guessing what the next thing would be or what a character would do. I really do not like it when a movie takes a direct plot. I love that it keeps me on my toe and makes me curious about the next line of action. In this movie, I wasn't expecting one of the Statesman agents to betray the organization/ that was the last thing I was expecting.

Another notable thing about this movie is that the characters are well-developed. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only person that takes notes of these things. I've seen movies where the characters are not well-developed, the producer or writer tried to cover that up with unnecessary actions. In this movie, Poppy and Eggsy are two contrasting characters. The former is the antagonist while the latter is the protagonist. I enjoy seeing their development in the course of the movie.

The plot of the movie is well constructed. The plot follows a chronological order. There are no loose ends. The use of costumes and top-notch places. I could not point out a lapse in characters’ actions.

Thanks for reading.

I really enjoyed the kingsman movies. I also didn't watch them when everyone was singing that song. I was in school then. But a while back I stumbled across it while the weak were asleep (like tonight), and I bing watched the two parts. Classic action comedy. I loved the British accents and slangs as well.

Also I prefered the first one to this one.
