๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿซ Only In Southeast Asia ๐Ÿ˜† Videos Just For Laughs ๐Ÿ“บ

Southeast Asians have a very good sense of humor generally speaking, and I hope this selection of videos I've shared below is a good example of that. By all means share any good videos in the comments I may have overlooked.

๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™€๏ธ No Cell Phones In Class! ๐Ÿ“ต

ย  ย  ย Give this teacher an A+ for her surprise attack skills. I love how she somehow kept her cool while displaying a brief moment of rage. As a former ESL teacher in Cambodia, I had exactly the same cell phone problem as this teacher, although I never did anything remotely this gangster.

๐ŸŽฅ Somebody Teach This Guy The Silent Button ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

ย  ย  ย I used to get this channel in Cambodia, so I immediately recognized it as a Vietnamese news channel. I'm no phone expert, but I think you can touch pretty much any button while your phone is ringing to silence it. This call catches him so off-guard that he falls apart inside while trying to maintain a cool exterior. You can tell the younger and likely tech-savvy co-host is completely perplexed.

๐Ÿ‘ฎ Cambodian Police Training Shenanigans ๐Ÿฅ‹

ย  ย  ย I've never watched this video all the way through because I got the point after the first minute. However, I recommend you fast forward to 4:10 if you want the highlight. What I love most is how all the cadets are laughing, but the instructor is seemingly taking this hazing seriously. I somehow feel Steven Seagal would approve of these training methods.

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Khmerican Hospital Translation Problem ๐Ÿฅ

ย  ย  ย I'm a Khmer translator and teacher, so this clip is particularly amusing to me. What doesn't get translated is the best, because she repeatedly says she wants to die and the food is terrible. The American lady tried to repeat the Khmer she hears on the phone reminds me of how my former students' pronunciation on the first day of class. From my experience, American and Japanese students are the least likely to speak Khmer with a good accent.

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿซ Vietnamese Names Are Hard ๐Ÿซ

ย  ย  ย Okay, so I've never lived in Vietnam, but there are many Vietnamese living in Cambodia, and I must say I struggle with pronunciation and tones. Khmer comes naturally to me, and I love that it's one of the few non-tonal Southeast Asian languages. The acting in this one leaves a bit to be desired, but it's still funny regardless.

๐Ÿ˜‚ Legendary Cockroach Killer Commercial ๐Ÿ“บ

ย  ย  ย These Thai Chaindrite commercials have kind of gone viral, but I still wanted to share one of them with you all in case you've never seen one yet. The acting is top notch and the humor is perfect in each of the Chaindrite roach spray commercials. I personally prefer the "smash with a shoe" method over filling a tiny room full of chemicals, but that doesn't stop the hilariousness of this commercial.

๐Ÿ‘“ Khmer Surin's Coolest Flutist ๐ŸŽต

ย  ย  ย Staying in Thailand for another out of this world video is the world's smoothest flutest, and he is oozing confidence and style. He is from Surin, an ethnically Cambodian province within Thailand that speaks Khmer but uses the Thai alphabet. The best part is this guy never once thinks to take his shoulder bag off during the whole performance.

๐Ÿ”ซ When There's No Bum Gun ๐Ÿšฝ

ย  ย  ย Anybody familiar with Southeast Asia surely knows about the bum gun, truly state-of-the-art technology not yet adopted by primitive western countries. Well, I have lived without a bum gun in more simple dwellings, and that is the where "tabo" (as the Filipinos call it) comes into play. If there's no toilet paper and no running water, but you see bucket of water and an oversized ladle, you know what to do.

Oh and before I forget...

Bun guns do actually exist in Europe.
Back in 1999, when I was 17 years young, I went on a school trip to Rome ( or Bracciano, not too far from the Italian capital ).

On our camping, I remember going to the restroom for the first time. After doing my thing, I flushed the toilet or at least that's what I thought I did.
As if it was a booby trap, a shower head, hanging from the toilet's water bassin, sprayed all over me until I managed to close off the water.

That was my first experience with the bun gun :<)

Cool some places have the bum gum in Europe, I thought there were only bidets in certain countries. I definitely think someone sabotaged you, sounds like some typical camping shenaningans.

Hilarious ๐Ÿคฃ the perplexed reaction of the host๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

Seems she can't believe he doesn't know how to silence his phone.
