Movie Review - Desire (Deseo) (2026). Drama, Thriller or something else?
The past few months, I do not check ratings before watching a movie, I prefer to discover myself if the movie is worth it or not. I also like to leave the element of surprise and this is what I just did.
Saturday afternoon, I was working and needed a break - so as I was checking out what's new on Netflix, I saw this movie that was the 5th most watched film in Greece.
and sometimes that's actually the best way to discover something new. I simply noticed that Deseo (2026) was among the Top 5 most-watched movies in Greece, so I thought, why not give it a chance?
I wouldn't choose a drama, but the description used the world thriller, so I decided to watch it. I was hoping for suspense, unexpected twists, and a story that would keep me guessing.

The movie actually started on a promising note. The cinematography was ok, the cast made a good first impression, and from the opening scenes, you would see that there was an intriguing mystery waiting to unfold. The rythm seemed to be ok, the actors looked fine so I thought it was a good choice.
Story: A married mother falls for her daughter's swimming coach and has an affair but her daughter also becomes attracted to him.
Unfortunately, as the film progressed, i noticed it would become slower and slower.
Scenes became longer, conversations felt repetitive. I would not see the drama or the tension or the thrill anywhere. I was anxiously waiting for a plot twist, for something to show me it was worth the 40 minutes that I had already seen.
While the movie explores emotions, relationships, and personal desires in a maybe, perhaps interesting way, but it could definitely show it in a different way.
It seemed to me that the scenario had some logical gaps and when the movie ended, all I wanted was to unsee it. However, if you do not have something better to do, maybe its ok to 'kill your boredom'
If you're expecting a thriller full of suspense and surprises, you might walk away feeling a little disappointed.
My rating: 5/10 (and I m being too nice maybe)
The imdb rating? 4.4/10
If I had seen this, I would definitely not watch it!
