Favourite Sci-Fi Show —Knight Rider (1982)

Who doesn't like films about aliens and science-related stuff? I love to watch these sorts of films as long as I understand the storyline and the science terminologies. One of my favourite Sci-Fi show that I will discuss in this post (which was actually meant as my entry to the CineTV contest but sadly I am out of time) is none other than Knight Rider (1982).

This sci-fi/action/crime TV series is an old one created by Glen A. Larson and it ran for four seasons from 1982 to 1986. I watched it when I was just a preteen mainly because I had a major crush on the main actor, David Hasselhoff, and his artificial intelligence amazing car, KITT. I think most ladies had a crush on David Hasselhoff.

At such a young, impressionable age, I was awed that a car could talk, reason like a human, execute some stunts that normal cars can't do and relate intelligently with its handler, Michael Knight.

How It Began….

The main actor, a detective, was ambushed in a police stakeout and left to die. He survived after he was rescued and his identity changed to Michael Knight courtesy of a wealthy, dying man named Wilton Knight. The purpose was so Michael could use his resources including the car to fight crime and save society.

Every episode presented relatable cases of crimes and things happening in our society and Micheal Knight with KITT swoop in, get the villains and save the day.

About KITT

This show is mostly about the talking, intelligent car, KITT. The creators of this show did an excellent job. I looked forward to every episode whenever it aired on TV and did not miss a single one.

A funny part of this show is when people come in contact with KITT and hear it talk and they are shocked. A better part is when KITT is used to track down and catch the bad guys.

KITT has a funny sense of humour and remained indestructible throughout the series despite all it encountered in fighting crime alongside Michael. Its rapport with Michael is so life-like that I wished I had such a 'friendly' car but then it's just science fiction. They both understand each other which made their relationship easy and interesting.

Overall, this show is great. I loved how each episode is loaded with intrigues that left me guessing who the villain is and by the end, it often turns out to be an unexpected character. If film producers decide to make a reboot, I'm not sure how I will take it because I would always wish Michael Knight was played by David Hasselhoff!
