The third instalment in the Jurassic World trilogy, Jurassic World: Dominion (2022) is finally here after so much waiting! Expectations were high that the trilogy would end with a thrilling and action-packed blast. It did. To fully understand the storyline, you will have to start with the first instalment, Jurassic World (2015) and the second, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018).

This trilogy is an American sci-fi action film that focuses on evolution of the different species of dinosaurs including the cloned ones and whether they can coexist with other living beings on earth without destabilising the natural order of things.

The first and second films in this series were superb with high positive ratings. With the release of the third, I recently downloaded it and it turned out to be a fantastic watch though most viewers do not agree with this.

Synopsis

After Dr Malcolm declared at the end of the second instalment, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018), that human beings and dinosaurs must coexist, this film starts from a time when dinosaurs are seen moving around freely. Two children were shown on a farm feeding chickens when a swarm of weird-looking, giant size locusts bombarded them destroying crops. It was discovered that the locusts were genetically modified with dinosaur DNA by Biosyn, a genetics company.

Biosyn also gave instructions to black market dealers/poachers to capture Maisie Lockwood from Owen (played by Chris Pratt) and Claire's (played by Bryce Howard) care and the Velociraptor's (Blue) baby named Beta so they could be tested and used for more genetic modification.

With the help of a CIA agent and black market dealers, Owen and Claire embarked on a rescue mission into Biosyn headquarters filled with dangerous species of dinosaurs. Will they survive it?

Review

In this finale, we see a merging of the cast from Jurassic Park (1993, 1997 and 2001) with the characters from the second instalment in the trilogy and it was a perfect fit. The chemistry between them was smooth except for Dr Alan Grant (played by Sam Neill) who had a confused look on his face in most of his scenes. I wondered why.

The settings, graphics and cinematography are impressive as always. The dinosaurs looked larger than life and very scary. Is it any wonder that the Jurassic World franchise was successful when released? The adrenaline-pumping action scenes are second to none!

The scene I enjoyed most in this finale was when Owen and Claire raced to the airfield in motorcycles and pickup trucks while battling mean-looking dinosaurs who wanted to have them for dinner, all to save Maisie Lockwood and the Velociraptor's baby. Added to the nerve racking tension was the chase by poachers and black market dealers. But when I compare the actions with that of the first and second instalments, it seemed a bit less. Maybe because I expected more.

Another adrenaline high scene was when the combined main characters attempt to escape the Biosyn headquarters, they are faced with the ferocious, carnivorous dinosaurs. As I watch, I imagine if I was in the actors' shoes, would I have made the same decisions or tried different ones? I hope I never get to find out because those dinosaurs are beyond scary!

Overall, I'll say the franchise was well-wrapped up. The cast performed excellently and the creators did a great job uniting the franchise as one. If you have not seen the instalments, you can still watch this film and understand it. I'll rate this movie 4 stars out of 5.

I haven't seen the trilogy, with this review, I bet it's what I'll like.

Yes, yes! You will like this franchise. I recommend you start from the first one Jurassic Park (1993). 😊

Haven't been a big fan of sci-fi movies, so I was put away off the first and second installments. But I've seen this one and a friend of mine who's a movie bee doesn't think it's the best conclusion for the franchise.

Personally I don't really know what a befitting conclusion would've been since I never saw the first two but the cinematography is cool and the graphics are even better. The interpretation of roles though I can't judge as I dunno their background and their stories.

All round, I'd say it's a good movie, but not really spectacular.

Hey Diikaan! Indeed this is a great movie and like your friend, some viewers have negative review of this finale (as they should!). In my opinion, the finale is an impressive conclusion.
