Last Comedy Seen: Pivoting (2022)

There are certain genres of films you watch purposely to relax, laugh and have a good time. They are comedies and there are very few decent, enjoyable ones around! I don't watch comedies often but I watched this one because I saw Maggie Q and Ginnifer Goodwin on the poster and was so glad I did!

Pivoting (2022) is an American comedy TV show about three middle-aged best friends who after the death of one of their friends, bond over their loss and make life-changing choices because "life's too short". Basically, the show's creator, Liz Astrof, focused on dealing with the loss of a loved one.

This show comprises ten episodes, each episode running for about 20-25 minutes. It's the kind of show that you binge-watch relaxed on your couch with a glass of wine and chips on a cool evening. I guarantee no dull moments but hilarious ones. Imagine an attending surgeon giving up her career to become a cashier at a grocery store! The embarrassing scenes were the funnier ones for me.

The cast is great and they delivered a hilarious performance. Aside dealing with the loss of a loved one, each episode covered stimulating, thought-provoking and relatable issues such as mother-children bond, fidelity in marriage, career decisions etc. Each episode is addictive leaving you with a desire to want more but sadly, it's just ten episodes.

I like the transition in Maggie Q's roles because I've seen her in action/adventure movies like Nikita, The Protégé, Priest, The Divergent series and was surprised to see her in a comedy series. She synced perfectly and her acting was great.

I admired the rapport between the three ladies. Their friendship began in high school and they understand each other. Though we don't get to see the dead friend, only allusions to her, the show reveals she was like the glue between the friends.

These ladies are loyal, open with each other and committed to their friendship. A kind of friendship viewers would wish for in reality.

It's yet to be confirmed whether there will be a season two but I am hoping so. I wonder why the delay. Probably the screenwriters are working on the way forward for the ladies. This show and the cast have a lot more potential yet to be explored.

This is an entertaining and enjoyable comedy and I recommend it for all film lovers.
